Two New PS3/Xbox 360 Shooters from Midway

The latest issues of both EGM and Official Xbox Magazine collectively reveal that Midway has two new FPS games in the works for 2007.

Hour of Victory, thus far confirmed only for the Xbox 360, is a World War II FPS with a twist. Running on Unreal Engine 3 and under development at nFusion, the game focuses on three unique characters. The team's goal is to connect players with each hero, including class-specific objectives and Achievements exclusive to each hero. Environments will also be mostly destructible, as one would expect.

The other shooter is Blacksite: Area 51, confirmed for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Less is known about it, although obviously it's expected to be a FPS in the same vein as Area 51.

The story is too old to be commented.

Wow. Two games that I know I won't buy just going on this limited info.

"Hour of Victory [...] a World War II FPS with a twist. [...] the game focuses on three unique characters"
-Remake of 'The Outfit', mb?

"The other shooter is Blacksite: Area 51"
-...and yet another Area 51 game. Like the (arcade) shooter. Or the (first-person) shooter. Or the other probably dozen shooters with some variation of 'Area 51' in their names.

My favorite line is "Blacksite: Area 51 [...] it's expected to be a FPS in the same vein as Area 51."

No ****.

How many more FPS can possibly be released for the 360 or any of our next generation machines. God I hope this generation isn't about retried formulas and the same style FPS game with shinny graphics. Otherwise this is going to be just like the genesis/snes era with one side scrolling and fighting game after another.
