Nice gameplay video from MotorStorm Pacific Rift demo. Enjoy!
I nearly fainted.
Graphics are great, I give that. There are a few clipping issues and tons of shadow pop-in tho. It still doesn't take away it's initial shine. Gameplay, I fainted. The track included is totally just a retooling of RainGod Mesa from the first game. Same left turn, a bigger jump, same slanted hill-turn and the same left turn to the home stretch. Meh, that and the vehicles are heavier, boost still does nothing, and the rubber-band AI is in full effect. Pass.
looks better than the first one and the first one was amazing. bout to play it now, cant wait till i get my HDTV.....
MINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEE THE KING OF RACING GAMES IS BACK!!!
"There are a few clipping issues and tons of shadow pop-in tho" I noticed that as well. But MS1 didn't have any of those issues. I'm sure it will be Ironed out for the retail version. Pass for you, but it's still a must-buy for me.
MOTORSTORM 2 IS THE BEST LOOKING AND THE BEST PLAYING OFFROAD RACING GAME EVAAAA ACCEPT IT OR GTFO
i was invited woot! woot! thank you sony!
"THE KING OF RACING GAMES IS BACK!!!" sorry, but no game with rubber band AI can be king of racing games. Forza 2 and gran turismo 5 prologue are kings in my opinion, although I have not played that Ferrari ps3 game, whats that like?.
The demo played live doesn't show that.
usually when u watch someone play a game online he sucks, but this guy actually had some skills. nice vid btw
HARDCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RE! Can't wait for this game. It looks crazy!
But the Graphics are mind blowingly amazing. Anyone notice that the particles from the smoke receive shadows? and change with the lighting? After playing Pure, its just sad.
i noticed that this demo, the tires dont get dirty? ima a bout to see for my self... they might not of added that in the demo though. thats what it looks like from this video but i cant really tell that good. BTW, the mini game that came with core, is DOPE!
i posted a hands on in my blog
By the way, have they fixed the issues that I had with the first game? I know that they've added splitscreen (which is great!), and they've now got more tracks, but have they changed -Rubber-banding AI (Your first 2 laps didn't matter, since you can always catch up if you are behind because the opponents slow down for you. Also, it's impossible to build up a lead because your opponents speed up to catch you) -Lack of an arcade mode/time trial (to begin with) -Nothing to unlock. Yes that's right, the only thing you could unlock were skins for your vehicles. Great. You could also _pay_ for more skins for your vehicles. Double yay. -No differentiation within the classes - you never unlocked a faster bike or a rally car with better turning, they were all the same. Also, there was no indication of which vehicles did the best on which surfaces, what their stats were etc. Which would have been helpful to begin with. -Imbalance of vehicles. I know they tried awfully hard to balance the vehicles in this game but the fact of the matter is that if you were in an online race in a big rig you couldn't win (unless you were only up against other ones). A rally car seemed to be the only way to go because it's the fastest. -So many tickets and events, but nothing changes. You just do the same races over and over, with slightly different vehicle combinations. And the only races in which you could choose your vehicle were in the same track! You were given a vehicle for every other event.
"it's impossible to build up a lead because your opponents speed up to catch you)" not its not.... i guess you have to be really good or something cause i can get a good lead on em'. "-Nothing to unlock. Yes that's right, the only thing you could unlock were skins for your vehicles. Great. You could also _pay_ for more skins for your vehicles. Double yay." couldnt you unlock more vehicles? im pretty sure you could of.... "there was no indication of which vehicles did the best on which surfaces" thats kinda common sense.... mud pluggers good for the mud, cars not good for the mud etc. "but the fact of the matter is that if you were in an online race in a big rig you couldn't win" thats not true, i see people winning all the time in a big rig wile other people are using different vehicles..... "-So many tickets and events, but nothing changes. You just do the same races over and over, with slightly different vehicle combinations." the difficulty gets harder, and the vehicle combinations indicates which route you take so technically is shouldnt be the same track but you can alter what route you take no matter what vehicle you use. you seem rather pickey for an arcade racer dude.....
Yeah they were mostly minor complaints, but the rubber-banding AI WAS a big problem for me; it didn't matter how well I did in the first 2 laps because if I did well in the 3rd lap I won, if I did badly I didn't. So they were basically just a waste of time. You could unlock more 'vehicles' but in reality these were the exact same vehicles (same handling, same speed, same acceleration, same brakes, same boost), but just looked different (different skins). Of course you can sort of tell which surfaces were best for some vehicles, but for something like a buggy, it's not THAT clear until you've tried the game out. I remember on some of the load screens there were stats about some of the vehicles, but this information wasn't available anywhere else. Apparently there were 4 types of surface as well. Well my experience of the online was that you chose a rally car, and if you didn't crash and no one else did the same thing you would win. Of course, if no one's good enough to not crash in 3 laps then a big rig might win, but beyond the beginner level most people are capable of not crashing if they are careful. There weren't enough tracks, and the main game was too long for the amount of content. After playing the same tracks over and over with different vehicles it then gives you the same tracks with the same vehicles against opponents who are slightly harder. The rubber-banding effect made it somewhat tedious in the higher difficulties since you were basically just going through the first 2 laps to get to the 3rd and have your chance at winning.
I have to say Thor is actually right about a lot of those things. But some things I'm glad of that they did for MS2 was address the bigger issues that held back MS1 like Splitscreen and more tracks.
but each track has alot of different routes so it makes it like their are more track ya know cause say you were a big rig then you would stick to the muddy routes and the rally cars would stay on the high ground, out of the muddy paths. it makes it so their is a wide variety each time you play it and adds alot of replay value to it for different vehicles. "You could unlock more 'vehicles' but in reality these were the exact same vehicles (same handling, same speed, same acceleration, same brakes, same boost), but just looked different (different skins)." i guess that's why its an arcade racer and not a sim. and if im not doing good on the first two laps you dont always win on the third lap no matter how good you do. that's not the way it works.
holy freakin crap this looks amazing. confirmed day 1 purchase.
You can't tell me that doesn't look good.
was awesome - enough said. for the haters or the people that say meh pass...you people should have a xbox not a PS3 enough said.. im out
This demo could be of an ealier build with the clipping issues etc.
It looks great, haven't played the demo yet but can't wait to. The speed of the gameplay seems much more faster than the first one, I like it :)
"The speed of the gameplay seems much more faster than the first one" Also noticed that too
nd the weight of the vehicles seem to be heavier this time, which is a huge plus for me.
Really intense sense of speed just watching the vid. Can't wait to play this game!
...did not feel like a complete game. Lack of time trials, qualification modes, etc. This one is looking great but I hope they beef up the actual game play to make it feel more substantial. I would also love to see licensed vehicles you can customise in terms of mechanics and body. Imagine having your own custom paint job is this game! One thing I liked about the original was the wear and tear on the course as the race progressed. It would be great to see this sort of transition over the course of a racing season as well - especially given the tracks are completely at the mercy of weather conditions, fires, etc. Beginning of the season tracks are well kept by the end of the season after different weather conditions and lots of events the tracks are cut up and a much rougher ride than the first time round. On the subject of fire, be great to see some fires as a result of petrol/oil spills. Oh well, maybe in Motorstorm 3.
What's awesome about motorstorm 2 is that you can actually break a tree or something and it creates a hazard for other drivers and then on the next lap you can use the broken tree as a ramp to get some air. It's crazy.
None of the trees break in the demo. Not even a monster truck breaks through them. I'm talking about the small trees too. The towers don't break either. I was expecting them to break after seeing it happen in the target trailer. Pretty much the only destructible stuff I've found are the barrels and stacks of tyres that they have deliberately scattered around the track for that purpose. I hope there is more stuff to smash in the full game. As well as finding the supposedly improved destructible environment fairly lacking, I was also dissapointed that they didn't decide to include the full four player split-screen option in the demo because I was looking forward to testing it out. Only two player split-screen is included. It would have been nice if the track they chose to demo was longer or perhaps three laps instead of two. The race is over far too quickly I and I found myself restarting the race over and over rather than having to wait for it to load the main menu again (about fourteen seconds). Aside from all of that I am having a lot of fun with the demo and I will probably buy the full game anyway.
You have to remember it's just a demo and it was only 1 map. It should be in the final game. All will be revealed next month when the game comes out.
Everything about it looks intense!!
