2009: The Wii finally comes of age

While Nintendo's software for the console has been outstanding, the support from other developers has not been as forthcoming. But just like the DS, it looks like it will be the third year of the Wii's life when it will really find its feet. The combination of improved software and peripherals means that Wii gamers have a lot to look forward to in the coming year."

2009 looks to be a year of the wii pretty strongly. 3rd party games are being announced everyday and not one of them a minigame collection with the conduit and madworld leading the charge.

with wiispeak and motionplus the gameplay will be even more immersive

rest of nintendo lineup is not known but we can hope for f zero, starfox and kirby.

its time to rejoice once again wii fans, for the wii is growing up.

Link's Crossbow Training-if you must have a zapper yet the game was actually fun. It also had a zelda FPS weird huh?
Now games that surprised me was mortal kombat with motion controls they actualy work well for this fighter( it uses lots of half circles too), elebets(sp), dragon ball Z the combat works even if it is very hardcore LOL. Oh of course res evil Wii make even if you didn't like res evil you need to try this it make the game way more fun seriously.

Wario Land: Shake It! is going to be good also, Guitar Hero World Tour if your into that it's on here also.Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon was actualy pretty fun also. You also have Baroque, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors. Are some other games you may want to try out?

Third party support is definitely getting stronger, and this is the time when it's supposed to have been.

People, remember way back in mid-2006 when most of the 3rd party developers dismissed the Wii and thought it wouldn't sell, so they focused on making good games for just the 360 and PS3? Yeah well they got kicked in the pants when they saw that Wii was selling like hotcakes, and they had nothing good to give to this massively-selling system.

This is why up until now we've gotten plenty of great 3rd party games for the PS3 and 360 and relatively nothing on the Wii (except for the few exceptions that we all know about: Zack & Wiki, Okami, No More Heroes, etc.). The 3rd party developers recognized that they wanted to make good games for the Wii and that they would sell, but they were already obliged to work on those PS3 and 360 games. Their hands were tied.

So what did they do? They put out anything they could get out quickly and easily, because it would most likely sell. And during this time, they still had thoughts for great games on the Wii. It's just that it's only NOW that they can actually work on the games, which is what people like myself had predicted. I knew that once the Wii started selling great, we wouldn't get a lot of great 3rd party games until year 3, or even year 4, so I just sat back and waited. And look where we are today. These great 3rd party games are being made and will be here in year 3.

Good games take time. Great games take patience.

Now I dont feel bad for selling my Wii. At first I thought it was a mistake, but I won't feel bad for missing out on games like the conduit and count dracula. Man I miss the N64 days when every game was an evolutionary step forward in its franchise. I might as well forget about any good Wii games and just buy an old 64. I'm looking forward to all the Wii has to offer this holiday. I still have Galaxy, Okami and Metroid Prime 3 to finish. Random thought: If Resident Evil 5 releases on the Wii I might choose that version. Anyone with a PS3 or 360 & Wii feel that way?

I personally would add Mario Kart Wii and Metroid Prime Corruption to your list of must haves. Some other good Wii exclusives are; No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, Medal Of Honor Heroes 2, Paper Mario, Mario Strikers, Rayman Raving Rabbid series, Trauma Center series, and Tiger Woods 09 (All Play.)

Look, for the Wii to really grow up there are two important things coming up for me. the conduit, though even some wii owners(daftly in my view) seem to want this to fail, is one of the best hopes we have for the Wii to finally get the shooter we all know the controls deserve-hopefully COD:WaW can also do what COD4 did for PS3 nd get us clanned up in a far better online game than(bless it) MoHH2.

Then there's Madworld, Disaster and , suddenly, a slew of other more serious titles.

Still think it's gonna take quite a game to knock MP23 off it's perch as the best realised, best looking and just best game on the console. Yeah, SSBB and Mariocart are great(SMG is purdy too)but seeing as the second best experience is Resi4, a gamecube port, there's alot to be adressed here. Same for the exquisite Okami, though they failed to make the controls as good as they should ahve bee after doing a great job improving the ported PS2 visuals.

Finally, there's much to drool over. Seeing as there's better looking games on PS3 than The Force.. I'll also be getting that for the Wii as well as the next Pro Evo as I feel the real innovations in footy games came with their first attempt at a wii version and the improvements in both Fifa and PES are very small and dull on the more graphically obsessed consoles. i found the PES2008 gameplay on wii the best and most interesting change in footy sims inten years and feel they improve the experience no end and the polish added this time should give the Wii something great.

Lets hope Chop til you Drop is cool, The Conduit lives up to it's hype(and with WaW gives us great online srvices(no reason it can't be great and lag free imo)so with the likes of Deadly Creature and other new ideas I feel the Wii is finding it's software fetet at long last.

Personally I thank no More Heroes for opening the irreverent floodgates and MP3 for showing the console can make good looking games(whcih, IMO, knocked the single player of Halo3 into the cack hole it deserves for the lamest narrative/story ever).

@ blind from the sun. Sadly there's no hope whatsoever that Resi5 will come to Wii. It would just look poor compared to the graphics on the other consoles. i think it far more likely that Capcom find another way of giving Wii owners some RE ents in good time-maybe a remake of RE2 with Wii controls and spruced up graphics and gameplay. It's a geat story and wouldn't risk Capcom embarrassing wii or their huge RE fanbase on the console after the Wii version of RE4 was THE definitive and easily so, version of that classic.
