Why ScreenGurus Shaun believes that the hype around the Nintendo Switch is in danger from Nintendo's lack of hard facts.
As an iconic handheld device, the Game Boy Color was packed with fantastic platformer games that covered numerous sub-genres while providing a genuine experience.
From the Supervision to the Steam Deck, the vast history of handheld console gaming is always worth celebrating.
A modded PSP is awesome, I used to play games like the original Marvel vs Capcom and even the original Doom on it.
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
Its weird they only want to work with 3 months to hype up a 399.99 plus device to the public
It has been 48 bloody hours. Cool your damn jets.
What they should do is start talking about the games. Every 2 weeks they should release new information and clips about each of the 7 games in the trailer. New gameplay trailers, new screenshots etc. This would help keep the hype going. They certainly do not have to mention specs or add any further console information. But they do need to start talking about the games.
No. I actually think they gave a good amount of information I actually don't believe the specs will matter to the majority of Nintendo fans because it's just not something that install base cares about that much let's be honest how many cores or how many teraflops do you think it's going to matter if it's running a game like Zelda breath of the wild? A game that's already running on the Wii U?
I personally don't care I'm not purchasing it with this understanding that it's going to be running all the latest and greatest it very much likely is not but I don't really think most consumers care about that especially Nintendo's core audience. Nintendo's intellectual properties have never lean more towards needing some sort of technical Machine to run their games or do any of the concepts that they've ever produced so I don't necessarily think it matters if they're not telling us the specs.
I think enough information is known about the device itself about its screen size about it being a handheld about it using cartridges about it outing to the television through the docking station in the docking station being a charger in about the detachable controllers as well as being able to use other controllers I don't necessarily think the rest is that much of a mystery to Consumers to be honest.
I think they did a good job marketing this handheld my only criticism is that they should have never confirmed its existence a year ago and it would have been better if they said absolutely nothing right up until the reveal to leave consumers in suspense what they did was they gave out way too much information and they were giving more Credence to these rumors that I think many people understand all you have to do is read my own comments to realize how obvious it was that this was going to be a handheld that out to a TV.
That prediction became much easier and easier to believe with every single time Nintendo kept talking about it. I'm still going to purchase it day one but I assure you there was someone that might have already made their decision to purchase a PlayStation 4 slim or an Xbox One S or something like that just based on what Nintendo was saying and that's not a good thing, it's best if they said nothing so that way consumers are left guessing and they have to wait till an official reveal to help them make a decision Nintendo's comments only helped the rumors become more obvious.
Information could kill them as well though. If the specs are unimpressive (possible, but I think they might be alright), the price is high, they have limited storage space, etc it could start a wave of negativity.
That being said, storage concerns did destroy the Vita's hype because Sony didn't get the bad news/information out of the way early enough. So, the article is probably right.
