Does digital distribution future doom game shops?

Digital distribution of all types of media is on the rise, with video games being one of those industries embracing the new method of getting content from developer to customer. But if the future is digital distribution, and the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii certainly suggest it is, how will game shops survive the revolution?

Perhaps in 15 years or so when everyone has super fast broadband then DD will start making it mainstream

Shops wont need to worry for a long time though because consumers do like hardcopy's of games.

Look at Gamestop earnings for 2007 if you don't believe me...

And if the retailers had problems in the future they would offer better deals and free crap to even things up.
