I see this as just as important to gamings future as the 'transition' to polygonal gaming was in the mid 90's. Actually I would bet this is a bigger jump in advancement.

Cindy-rella2744d ago

I agree. Psvr isnt a silly gimmick that barely works or will go away because its no good. Psvr is amazing and vr is here to stay .

C-H-E-F2744d ago

Yeah definitely, this is that next level of gaming everyone has been asking about. This is the SNES super mario to Super Mario N64 leap... I'm glad I was alive during all of these gaming advancements, because i can appreciate each and every one of them even more. It's not just something cool that's going on, that is out, new tech... this is pure beauty unfolding in front of our eyes. VR will eventually in years to come become a gaming genre or a more essential portion of gaming than many realize today. Think about it like this, when the world was given GTA3 what happened? Where did games go from there? This is what VR will do and I couldn't be any more excited to see it all unfold. Like can yall imagine Battlefield VR. or for the COD fans COD VR? First person shooters have been given new legs, racers, boxing games, golf games, pool games, this is simply an amazing time to be a gamer. I just hope it's executed as well as my imagination depicts it will.

Amiga-guy2744d ago

VR is certainly no gimmick, it's already an amazing experience, its frightening to think where this tech will be in ten years time.

I was sure before and using the PSVR has only cemented that conviction.

Gamist2dot02744d ago

Polygonal is the best way to describe it because when people say "3D" some people will think gaming with 3D glasses on which isn't the case. But yeah, I agree with that feeling from sprite based to polygonal gaming.

bouzebbal2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

Only future will tell if it's a gimmick or not.. I want to believe it but let's see the attach rate and support it will get.
Right now the hype is rolling and I hope it lasts a long time.

DigitalRaptor2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

I can't remember where exactly I found it, but some industry dude tweeted that before playing Rez Infinite's Area X, he's not been blown away like it since Super Mario 64.

I'm inclined to agree with his given the impressions of that game.

VR has tons of potential, and PSVR will pave the way due to its accessibility.

The platformer game that comes with PlayRoom VR is awesome!

Babadook72744d ago

Indeed. I also like collecting prizes and watching the toy room come to life. Maybe they will add levels to playroom later?

GrimDragon2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

This review is complete garbage and not accurate at all. I suggest you visit a more legitimate review site for a more Indepth xplanation on the games that are more like short demos and terrible and why there is motion lag on these glasses. A 9 out of 10 it surely is not.

Find out why the years old motion wands suck, and why the limitations of the camera make some games unplayable. I hate bs reviews that don't honestly point out the flaws. Iam sure the vr is pretty cool overall but dont sugar coat the facts. It makes you look like one you don't have a clue about the technology or two your a kiss ass.

dreadz742744d ago

Do you have one? I do and ur talking out ur ass. Is it perfect no but it is very well made and game play great..

GrimDragon2744d ago

I do have one and you point out my point it's not perfect but the review makes it seem like it is.
Pointing out the obvious flaws in something doesn't mean your bagging on the product. Like I said the vr is pretty cool but I can't help but feel this product was rushed out without much faith in it that's why Iam holding these old ass wands that suck anyone who says different is full of it. Right now after burning through this suck ass demo disc my glasses will sit there collecting dust. And the amount of wires I have to wrestle with and hide is absurd not to mention the stupid wire from my glasses to the processor getting in the way and how I need to play in complete darkness for the stupid old camera to pick up my moves. You people are so quick to suck on the Sony dong afraid to point out certain things consumers would appreciate before buying I give this trash a 7 at most we'll see what happens in a yr. I bet anything if it does well Sony will release a better version of this half ass vr.

sweendog2744d ago

@grim dragon. No you didn't say vr is pretty cool. You actually said I'm sure vr is pretty cool. Which to me says you don't own one. You have just read all of the negatives and listed them.
Im a rift owner and I hope psvr is a massive success as it will persuade more Devs to create vr content

yeahright22744d ago

@sweendog. Bravo man.
As gamers we should hope VR as a whole succeeds. Not just our preferred company that has a headset. VR is in it's infancy, hoping one company fails in their attempt due to bias has the potential to rob us all of VR's future.

At this stage, we should be hoping rift takes off, or psvr takes off, but rather we should hope VR as a whole takes off.

RavageX2744d ago

Ive got one also and have had no problems. Only thing i could almost agree on would be the games so far, and not fully.

S2Killinit2744d ago

Why look at a review site we are playing it and IT IS AWESOME (:

C-H-E-F2744d ago

lOl, it's just something about looking at reviews to see if others feel how you feel too? It is awesome. RIGS, RIGS, RIGGSSSZSZSZSZSZ

Babadook72744d ago

It's averaging over 80 Metacritic so 90, although being one of the higher ratings, is not standing out too much from consensus. User impressions (like my own) are glowing also. You should really give it a try before attacking it btw.

Aloy-Boyfriend2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

Maybe you should get one before talking, isntead of taking the word from some low reviews ot haters. Get over yourself!

Cdubya7192744d ago

Love seeing people defend the reviewer here. I haven't played VR myself but completely understand the significance of the technology. You can be down on a product, that's fine, but don't be an ass about it. What's gained by attacking a website or reviewer who genuinely puts in hard work to offer up an opinion. Get over yourself.

TKCMuzzer2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

I am sorry but you did not say VR was pretty cool, you said 'I am sure VR is pretty cool overall' . That one word makes a massive difference to the meaning and throws the legitimacy of your comment into question.

I have not had of the issues you supposedly are having, in fact i was pleasantly surprised how effective my move controller were, my camera never struggles to pick up the headset, my wires are nice and tidy, the wire from the headset has not got in the way once.

May I ask why you keep talking in the 1st person and then the 3rd person? it sounds like a mix & match opinion.

Just sell it to someone who will appreciate it, you have an opinion the reviewer has an opinion, live with it, I have to say, the reviewers opinion is far better communicated.

C-H-E-F2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

LMAO @GRIMDRAGON
dude, go suck on a bottle. You say the review makes it seem perfect, then why the headset got a 9/10? perfect isn't a 9... perfect is a 10/10. I've never had issues with my wands, camera, tracking, visibility, etc. perhaps because our game room is blacked out. So we have the most idea tracking for PSVR. I used to get motion sick on the LUGE game, but after playing it more n more, i've been able to play it for 3 hour straight on sunday without an issue. You are just whining because whatever platform you own doesn't have the PSVR. (I'm suggesting you aren't a PC gamer because from all the reviews i've seen, the vive and oculus has their pros and cons too so you would've threw those under the bus as well. You are a salt mine and need to balance your diet, quit consuming game news from 1 negative source. It's best to consume game news from plenty sources good, bad and in-between then make a concise decision to purchase or not to. And afterwards don't let those reviews guide you to like/dislike a game, but you review it on your own about what you like or dislike. Its clear that you don't own it, because all of this non-sense would've have been said.

GrimDragon2744d ago

Dam you all! VR sucks and you know it. It's a conspiracy! How can everyone's psvr work fine and mine is all finicky. Someone is a liar! And it ain't me!

When I said the vr is pretty cool I was thinking future tense like possibilities I don't see now with this stupid Morpheus. I didn't mention oculus or vive because I don't have either of them to give sound judgement. Iam upset with this purchase to be honest so if Iam salty it's because this dam thing was not worth 534 dollars. At least not right now. To make matters worse Iam being told to get a ps4 pro to lessen the lag so Iam furious at these reviews making it seem like this is the best thing since sliced bread when in fact it's a soggy slice of bread.

Furthermore what's up with all this Sherlock Holmes crap trying to decrypt what I say this is the Internet everything can be anything at anytime so just take my word for it this psvr is nice but crappy at the same time. It's like a poor mans vr. I think google cardboard was more impressive.

Maybe when resident evil comes out I'll feel better......maybe...until than stop raping me with down votes because I speak the awesome bewildering truth....p.s. America rocks!

Aenea2744d ago

Meh, I've played DriveClub VR for 4 hours and after a food break another 6 hours... No issues whatsoever!

GrimDragon2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

Maybe....maybe not....Internet is scary like that.

Nine comments in and there is a pooped in the group.

GrimDragon2744d ago

So wipe your @ss bro have some decency geez.

Aenea2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

PSVR is certainly not perfect but what you're spouting is nonsense as well. Yes there are some issues but you talk like it's all negative "games that are more like short demos and terrible", "motion lag on these glasses", "games unplayable".

I haven't experienced any "motion lag" and love most of the games and I can actually simply PLAY them!

So yes, what you're saying is BS. Just send it back or sell it. Heck maybe even get another hobby, if you didn't find anything to like in the 18 demos on the disc you must not enjoy gaming all that much....

PS. Playing in complete darkness is a no-no, the camera needs light to track properly, yes, it shouldn't be too bright, but too bright for the camera is probably too bright for regular TV use as well. You mustn't have bright lamps on in the camera's play area. Also check if there are any reflective surfaces behind or near you that the camera can pick up. I didn't think I had any such things, no mirrors or other shiny stuff behind me, so I grabbed a small flashlight, made the light beam as tight as possible and waved it around. Turns out I had a boardgame still in shrink behind me and another cardboard box with lots of transparent tape. Also had some storage boxes of shiny plastic there. I removed them. This stuff helps and I feel many people complaining about tracking issues are overlooking something really simple. Yes it could be way better, of course it could, but it works flawlessly if you set it up right (and yes, I had move controller tracking issues and display drift the first day, is now completely gone).

PPS. You're just a negative person aren't you? You give "this trash" a 7? I'm sorry, 7 is actually a rather good score in my book, but I won't rate trash a 7, trash to me is 5 or lower....

GrimDragon2744d ago

I removed the plastic from my couch you were right it's awesome now.

Sparta072744d ago

Rookie!!!! How you been, man?

DarXyde2744d ago

"Iam sure the vr is pretty cool overall but dont sugar coat the facts"

"Iam sure the vr is pretty cool"

"Iam sure"

This part of your comment does NOT read like someone who owns PlayStation VR. It reeks of uncertainty and unabashed agnosticism.

I, and I'm sure others, have a hard time taking this comment seriously. So...You didn't exactly say much, in principle.

Does that mean I agree with this review? I can't agree or disagree--I don't have PSVR and never tried it. But the general reception appears very much positive, so I don't exactly have much reason to say you have much of a point, whatever one you were trying to make.

Allsystemgamer2744d ago

And yet the general consensus is it's the best VR on the market.

You telling people to look for better reviews because this one is negative means you only use confirmation bias. Which is a logical fallacy.

It's the best VR on the market. Get over it.

Bruneblomst2744d ago

Why so mad?it's not good you don't like don't buy:)

GrubsterBeater2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

"Iam sure the vr is pretty cool overall but dont sugar coat the facts."

That comment you made makes it seem like you don't have one. You said it might be cool overall, but don't sugar coat facts. Then it seems you said you had one after you were called out, just to make it seem like your opinion is actually valid.

I don't think you have PS VR, and if you did, you would realize that a lot of these "bad" reviews were due to people not understanding the fact that you need to be in a low-light level room with no mirrors and anything blocking the lights and camera, etc.

I don't think you have one. If you did have one, you would realize just how amazing VR is, and how wrong you are about how you think the wands are crap along with the camera limitations.

You are wrong, and I don't believe you. It seems like your mind was made up about PS VR before it released, and with the way you talk about it, it leads me to believe that you never had the intention of purchasing in the first place either.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but that's how your comments come off to me.

Edit: I just read comments from others below, and it looks like other people would agree with my consensus that you are a LIAR, trying to cover up the fact that your comment and opinion are completely useless against those who have ACTUALLY tried it.

GrimDragon2743d ago

So says the sheep. I have an awesome invisible dig for sale if anyone is interested. You people defend trash like you got stock in it lol.

GrubsterBeater2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

@GrimDragon:
"So says the sheep."

*sigh*.....

There's a difference between defending a product of quality with one's own experience, against attacking a product with misguided hate and jumping on the bandwagon of the rest of the PS VR haters who, just like you, have NEVER even tried it.

That actually ends up making YOU the sheep ironically...

Markusb332744d ago

Have you used psvr for a good length of time ? Overall, price comfort, ease of use and fun factor are right uo there. I dont this the other headsets can cover such a wide range of benefits. My friend has vive and while he likes it he wishes he had waited as he tried psvr and found it more comfortable. He says vive makes you extremely hot very quickly and you have to stop playing.psvr is not like this. It's the same with 4k you have to see it to objectively comment.

Artemidorus2744d ago

It's a gimmick, people will calm down and forget by 2018.

It will be in the background while the new consoles arrive and then slowly die away.

UCForce2744d ago

That's a huge difference from Kinect and Wii. Before PSVR, they got hand on and saying it's comfortable.

DigitalRaptor2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

Cute.

This is the kind of thing you would be expecting to hear from the fanboys pre-release and before the final product was in the hands of gamers and getting such overwhelmingly positive impressions. Some people have to be bitter about progress I suppose.

Artemidorus2744d ago

It's not bitterness, it's how millennials work, drop and move on.

Trust me well into 2017 you will not see many talking about VR.

Allsystemgamer2744d ago

People like you have been saying that since oculus was revealed. Still hasn't died yet.

Keep hoping. You're making yourself look silly.

Artemidorus2744d ago

Give it time you will be wrong

Aenea2744d ago

Sjeesh, millennials? I'm a Gen X baby! Many of my age have been wanting VR since forever, now it's possible.

I will only forget about VR when there are no more new games available and with the current succes of the thing I don't think that's gonna happen soon.

peppeaccardo2744d ago

Gents this is as groundbreaking as the introduction of 3D graphics. The immersive experience and the excellent design makes you forget that you are actually wearing an headset. Of course as every consumer product there are people who might have a different experience. But if you take your sweet time to fine tune the system and set your VR sitting area as suggested in the instruction manual you are in for a crazy ride.
I have purchased, EVE, BattleZone, Rigs and played all the demo out there (Even Kitchen in the middle of the night and I almost died).
I do hope that this medium finds a huge success and company start investing more in it.

DigitalRaptor2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

This isn't a boast, but I was aware of all of these things long before it came out and i'm glad to see people agreeing.

- Fantastic immersion.
- Amazing headset design which puts comfort first.
- Great lineup of games: best any Sony peripheral has had on launch day going forward.

I knew this would all come together and fare well for Sony's first true forray into consumer-grade VR. Only the bitter ones who knew they were wrong are being drawn towards detriment. Of course, some people are unfortunate to experience motion sickness and I feel terrible that they can't join in the fun as we enter this new age.

peppeaccardo2743d ago

I have ditched the headset that comes with the unit for a new pair with Noise cancellation and I must admit now I am into my own world when I play VR games ... no joke !!
If this is the tip of the iceberg on what VR is going to be I cannot even imagine what the future will unfold for us ... local VR multiplayer wiht multiple headset tracking, olfactory and extra sensory inputs (motion, shaking, wind) for extra immersion .. and some more.
Interestingly enough I did not experience motion sickness the very first time I played it but the last couple of time I can feel slightly dizzy (I prob should shorten the playing sessions ... got too excited).
You guys have fun and play safe !!

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts32d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos32d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts32d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa32d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
