3DGameDevBlog: "No Man’s Sky is a space exploration game which uses procedural generation technology in order to create game environment and assets (textures, models, terrains etc). I was very excited since this game was announced back in 2013, not only for the game itself, but mostly for a chance to start researching the game files and find out how the game works. The game turned out as one of the most controversial games ever released, but still its inner workings are very interesting.
Anyone who installs the game can easily find out that the game is really small for its scale and this is true. But the main reason behind that is that the game works on a very small set of assets in order to create literally hundreds of variants, using procedural generation. I’m going to concentrate on the content that is related with the game’s 3D models because this is were I am (always) interested in. I’m also going to separate the article into 3 main categories. Geometry, Textures and Animation."
If you're looking for 'must have' PSVR 2 games then look no further. These are the 10 titles every PSVR 2 owner should have in their library.
If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.
Speak with your wallet!
I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.
GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.
I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.
I have most of them 😅
Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.
HelloGames:
Omega: Introducing Update 4.5
The OMEGA update invites everybody to embark upon a new shared interstellar expedition entirely for free, whether they already own No Man’s Sky or not. Featuring a complete overhaul of expeditions, new on-planet missions, claimable pirate freighters, and much more!
From 14:00 GMT, Thursday 15th Feb to 18:00 GMT, Monday 19th Feb, the entire Omega expedition will be open to everyone, entirely for free, even if you don’t own No Man’s Sky!
This is the best time for players old and new to come together and explore the universe.
No Man's Sky's Omega update has finally given Expeditions a complete overhaul. The Omega update also introduces the ability to defeat Pirate Freighters in combat and then board them to take control. A pirate's life for us indeed.
I'd love to be able to build military bases, start wars with dozens of active players at once... go on an interplanetary bombing run, sneak into other bases and plant bombs in them or steal equipment (with some cool stealth kill options)... The game is still way too much flying over mostly identical barren land... My grandmother was watching me play the other day, and made the comment "It just looks like you're walking through the same area over and over again.", and she's right. Too much of this game just looks and plays the same. Exploring isn't fun because there's rarely anything new to find, anything new to see. We don't get different biomes on the planets, each is all just the same thing the whole planet over. No deserts, no snowy mountains, no ice caps, no lush green landscapes and forests, just the same old thing over and over.

This is still the biggest problem with the game. Wish they would fix this main issue before doing other things. This was also the biggest problem with Starfield with its generic, barren planets

Yeah, but is it an AAAA Ubisawft Experience, though? Don't think so.

Good read.
This explains the intrigue that I still have with this game. On a purely technical level, I remain amazed with NMS. Just thinking about how a chaotic mix of random parts ultimately drives what we see. Sure, some of what we see is meh at best. However, I've seen planets that rival some of the best still images that I've seen in sci-fi posters, book covers, and comics. That moment is special. It's not a game that I play for hours on end. But, I'll NMS and chill for a couple hours with no problem. That being said, I had an idea of what I was getting in to.
