Are they? You are fixed on Japanese games that are anime based/fashioned. Perhaps if you were not playing games that are similar to the animes that inspired them you would have more/different experiences.
When Cliche and Troupes are the building blocks, you can’t expect much. Just like you cannot expect good case study when the tester/observer has practically no variance in test subjects.
Sooooo many horror games out there... you really gotta explore some more.
I am aware! But games like Outlast or Remothered aren't really doing anything different, either--the most you could say is that Outlast hammers in that not all mental patients are dangerous. Just some of them. It really isn't just anime-inspired games that are doing this, even if you're counting Deadly Premonition among them. Bendy and the Ink Machine did it with Alice Angel, Krieg from the Borderlands games is this but played for laughs, and Dog/God from Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC is another example of both murder and weird, unrealistically rapid closure. This article was inspired after seeing one too many indie games on Steam with the premise 'discover the inner world of this tormented killer with DID.' Trust me when I say I'm exploring all kinds of horror games, and even outside those boundaries, because this is a really wide-reaching pattern.
That said, if you have any recs for more interesting/less stereotypical usage of characters with DID, hit me up.
Mojoverse Games Feature: During a stressful time, I like to keep my mind busy, which I can only do if I have something that takes my full concentration. After watching a lot of cop dramas on TV, I noticed how much of a thrill it is to correctly guess the “whodunit” in a crime investigation. So I began an investigation myself to uncover the best games that require you to actually discover clues on your own, no hand-holding. It was a difficult task but I wound up finding and playing some pretty unique gems that have made a significant lasting impression on me.
The best detective game ever is Ghost Trick. Too bad no one's ever heard of it.

Author Writes: Capcom seems like it's on fire lately, releasing hit after a hit, but one of its biggest series, Ace Attorney, is conspicuously absent from that list.
Been quite a wait since 6. About that time we start hearing about a new entry. Especially that it would most likely be on the switch.
I keep hearing about Phoenix Wright yet have never actually played one, any recommendations as to a good place to start?
Unless they have an amazing writer for this, it'll be hard to top the og trilogy, created by Shu Takumi, the father of the franchise, who said he pretty much done everything he wanted with the franchise and went on to 18th century spinoffs. all the other games are entertaining, but nowhere near the quality of the first 3
How about Onimusha 5, Dragon's Dogma 2, Rival Schools 3, and Breath of Fire 7 too? I mean, while they're on a role may as well make the most of it. XXXD
