BioShock deserves better than The BioShock Collection.

Twinfinite: “War may never change, but the prices of rare games do!”
"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"
1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.
I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.
Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.
Nope this collection deserves to exist
I feel like they should only exist if they are games which didn't really get a chance to shine, if they are filled with new features/content or if they are good value for money (a trilogy worth)
I'm still waiting for the Witcher one...oh and Puppeteer
"As a result of that fallout, you get a series of games that are remade for current gen, instead of getting to see the benefit of those people still having jobs"
Not really bud. I don't see a direct result of that as why the collection exist. Uncharted, Halo and many other games got collections while actually still having new titles come out or in development.
Its not "instead of" as making a new Bioshock was NEVER going to cost the same as a remaster. Even if they did plan to make a new one....they would likely still make a collection anyway, even MORE so as they would need the funds for on going projects. There is no excuse to make money, that is what the company does.
" but my point is that largely with those older games, there isn’t an original crew of people that have stuck around long enough to be a part of the process"
Well....porting a game is not the same as making one from the ground up. Its not the same "process" ie Bluepoint games isn't part of Naughty Dog, they were not going to make Uncharted 5 or The Last Of Us 2, no different them Gearbox was NEVER going to make Halo 3, no different then Bluepoint was not going to make Gravity Rush 2..
Consider Bluepoint was porting Gravity Rush while porting the entire Uncharted Series......at the same time. When you google and read what transferring a game is...you'll see its not what you think it is.
Ken Levine never owned the Bioshock IP, they worked on that game knowing full well legally they didn't own it. The game doesn't stop a remake from happening in the future and some might play this version for the first time as I'm sure many didn't play those games. Have you not considered when a movie is put in 4K that the original actors didn't just come in and do the film again? lol Sooooo why did you expect a remaster of the game to have ANYTHING to do with the original team? Buddy.....a game could get ported over like 5 or 6 times bud, its likely not being made by any of the same staff as porting is not creating
Where did you hear Levine was fired because of sales? He left to create his own smaller studio and those 75 probably went with him.
I watched a presentation of him saying you can't experiment and fail with a team of 250 people wondering what they are supposed to be doing. He made his leaving sound deliberate and the reasoning he gave was sound. A good business move. Why would they ask him to be a part of the remaster? Did they ask the Respawn guys to help with cod4 remaster? Levine made a choice to go indie so he can push boundaries and his next project sounds superb.
Some people like HD remakes, if you don't want them, don't buy them and stop trying to ruin things for those who do.
