EEDAR makes August hardware estimates, puts PS3 ahead of 360

EEDAR's made its August hardware estimates pitching Wii and DS clear of a cumulative 1 million units and PS3 ahead of 360.

DS - 551,000
Wii - 505,000
PSP - 211,000
PS3 - 201,000
360 - 187,000

A beating is what the Wii is doing to the PS3 and 360 combined. Not the PS3's weak 200k if that sales a month and he has a valid point. If the PS3 was really kicking the crap out of the 360 how come 360 has way more software sales every month than PS3 does? It has 3/4 of the install base but the PS3 is only doing 40-50 % of the software sales of 360. Thats all the proof I need that many buy one and never plan on using it for gaming. Like many fanboys I am sure your response will have nothing to do with facts. Something very few Sony fans can seem to be able to bring up anymore.

I saw a rockband 2 commercial recently ending with "first on 360, starting at 199". So they've been getting the word out somewhat.

sales will not surge until late September early October. We will not see this reflected in NPD till they release numbers for October in November.

Im still surprised that as long as 360 has been out, the PS3 is outselling it by such a small margin. PS3 is certainly not inheriting PS2s success.

The PS3 debuted at $600 and $500 bucks, what did you expect? It's not like everyone that had a PS2 could buy a PS3 intially because it was cost prohibitive for most. As the PS3's price comes down more and more PS2 owners will be migrating to the PS3... I expect a lot of PS2 owners to upgrade to PS3's once SOCOM Confrontation comes out because SOCOM was literally the biggest Online game on the PS2 and there are millions of people that played SOCOM on the PS2 and I bet they've been waiting to pick up a PS3 when SOCOM dropped or just one of their favorite Sony exclusives drops.

Many just don't understand that there's a lot of people that are holding off a PS3 purchase until their favorite exclusive is released.... some are holding off until SOCOM drops, some are holding off until Final Fantasy XIII is released, some are holding off until God of War 3, some might be holding off until Killzone 2, and I could go on and on. There's a TON of games people are potentially waiting for before buying a PS3.

Halo 3 was pretty much the big game that all the Xbox fans were holding off for before buying a 360 and now that it's already come and gone, I just don't see that many more "system seller" type of games for the 360.

The PS3 will inherit the PS2's success because it will be around for 10 years. The PS3 might not sell as much as the PS2 in it's total lifecycle, but I'm pretty confident that the PS3 will hit the 100 million mark.

Considering the price difference PS3 has been selling pretty close to what the ps2 did (PS2 had a big spike about this time in it's life)People only THINK it's not successful because the wii has sold an abnormally large amount so early in its life, and the 360 had a head start.

Consider this the wii has sold 31 million consoles in 2 years.
Ps2 has sold 140 million in 8 years.
If the two were going head to head PS2 would be getting crushed, but if the wii sold at about the same rate AND lasted 8 years (which it wont) It would still end up 20 million behind the PS2.

I just bought my kids a wii. I wouldn't trade my PS3 for it, but it's a different kind of game system. When I went to buy games for it, I notice alot of older people picking up games for it, where as ps3 and 360 you see your 20's and 30's. the wii is not stealing away gamers from sony, i think it's bringing in new gamers, That's why the gaming industry is doing so well and PS3 is on track as the PS2
