"Less Than One Percent" of No Man's Sky Players Reported Issues; PC Patch Live, PS4 Pending Approval

According to Murray's statement, not everyone experienced optimization problems or reported them.

Guess I am one of those "1%" then. Everywhere I go I see negative reviews for the PC version, how many copies did the game sell in the first place to make ALL these complaining people ONLY 1%?

Mostafeto2805d ago

I just updated the post, and according to Murray, that 1% isn't small at all, so I don't think it's a small portion of players when this percentage translates to actual numbers.

This is his quote: "It's pretty crazy for us how many people are playing. And how large a number even 1% of that user base is."

Nitrowolf22805d ago

I doubt it's 1 percent. Least they are trying to fix it.

https://mobile.twitter.com/...

I have a lot more pages, the last two days or error with nearly the same exact times are literally just me standing in one area

freshslicepizza2805d ago

sean murray is really trying hard to marginalize the issues. well known reviewers have also brought up the problems on the pc version.

Mostafeto2805d ago

The two comments below me act as some proof to what Murray just said, which is that even that 1% is a huge number compared to the game's sale numbers, which I am sure is a LOT.

2805d ago
Unspoken2805d ago

He has already been caught lying about features which were supposed to be in the game why would he tell the truth about how many people are experiencing problems now...

LordMaim2805d ago

@IAmMegatron / Unspoken: Oh jesus christ, give it a rest. Some people are so intent on trying to get traction on this point that it's becoming embarrassing. That reddit thread that gathered tenuous threads from three years ago had to recant half of its points on the first day as people shot down their claims with proof.

I'm enjoying the game, but the game's not for everyone. Simple as that. There isn't a vast conspiracy of deception out there to dupe people with pernicious skyboxes, etc.

Vegamyster2804d ago

According to Steamspy it sold on 722,501 on Steam, dunno how the GoG version did. 20k put negative reviews on Steam but not all of them are related to performance issues so it's hard to say if 1% is accurate.

Did you report the issues? If not, then you're not in the 1%. Complaining on the internet won't get you counted

Player1242805d ago

What made you think I didn't? I am complaining on the internet but in the end of the day, I report the issues I face so the game could get better instead of just complaining and whining in the Steam reviews or some forum.

Mostafeto2805d ago

This needs to be acknowledged by a lot of people. Complaining on the internet won't make the game better for you nor will it help the developer know what's wrong with the game. They're people with jobs after all, it's not like they are sitting on the forums and Steam reading what a 12-year old said.

However, @Player124 HAS reported issues, as far as his comment say at least, so he has done the right thing there.

@ Uth11
I guess that you don't know how pc support work on Steam

1) If you have a issue visit the the technical support sub forum for the game.
http://steamcommunity.com/a...

2) SEE if your issues is there and look for a fix or answer, if not, POST your problems.

The same apply to COG
Meaning that there's a good chance that ppl didn't report their problems because the issues were already reported.
And by looking at the quickness of the dev to issues a experimental build, I can assure you that theses issues touch a little bit more then only 1 % (and remember Batman also had problems for a small fraction of the userbase until Steam decided to adopt a refund policy).

@Mostafeto
Actually Yes Dev watch the Steam forum and are mostly in control of the forum itself
here:
http://steamcommunity.com/a...

assdan2805d ago

Exactly, if the game doesn't work for you, complain, ask for a refund. Steam will give it to you. But you can't complain about your game not working unless you tried to fix it.

lol Metacritic.

You see real user reviews by people who bought and played the game actually. ..at steam.

The ps4 version has terrible user scores as well, but on pc there are similar games for much less money.

LordMaim2805d ago

Those terrible user scores are also plagued with console zealots who are more interested in making sure that "the other guy's system" looks bad.

User scores - verified purchase = troll bait

Like Everybody bought it have some issues, 1% is a lie my 970 should run this game easy but i get stutter like crazy even with fixes.

Mostafeto2805d ago

I have a 980 and tbh I experienced a couple of frame drops and stutters. So I am currently waiting for a couple more patches before playing it again.

_-EDMIX-_2805d ago

You were not everybody, the reality is some people have more crashes some people have less it's something that differs from system to system I'm actually pretty surprised that you even being a PC owner don't know this.

O_o

Grap2805d ago

Dude i am not referring to my self go chech steam reviews everybody got some error like a lot, not 1%

kevnb2805d ago

Game worked perfectly on my 970, but I didn't keep it because it's just boring.

PSN_ZeroOnyx2804d ago

I bought it for PS4 day 1. It has crashed one time on me. Other than that one crash it has ran perfect for me. I am playing other games as well but is in my current rotation of games.

I'm not sure why people always seem to believe that they've read millions of reviews consider that something like Fallout 4 that many fans consider the lesser of the Fallout games and also stated had issues sold 12 million units in a week, did you guys seriously think you read even 1 million reviews?

Sooooo maybe as it stands the few that are actually writing up a steam review are doing so simply because they did run into an issue more likely. The existence of their steam review could merely be the state they ran into an issue it may not actually be the majority simply the majority that are choosing to review in the first place consider when you go on Google reviews for any restaurant most times you might read something negative.

I understand that it's getting a negative review for a good reason based on the consumer's experience but we have to question are they writing the review because they had a bad experience or if they had a good review when they even put it up? People often times write up things up on a bad experience more so than on a normal or good experience.

They're being transparent about the issues and it's clear they're trying to get them resolved.

Mostafeto2805d ago

"People often times write up things up on a bad experience more so than on a normal or good experience. " This is kind of correct but there is still a TON of positive games out there on Steam and there is even some positive reviews on No Man's Sky as well.

Petebloodyonion2805d ago

That's what I like about Steam, you must own the game if you want to post a review.
The review also show how much time you have spent in the game and review are also ranked.
Also review are also based on recent timeline so even if the game could start bad, the recent reviews could be overwhelmingly positive showing the care of the devs for support.

Now I doubt that ppl buy game with hoping to dislike the game so they could go and publish a negative review.
And if you're a regular Steam user you will see that PPL are more then happy to also share their positives experiences on Steam.

_-EDMIX-_2805d ago

@Most- agreed!

@pete- could not agree more this is, its why I really love Steam Reviews and even Amazon verified purchase reviews simply because any person could claim they've used or played something without having any real credibility, but verified real users clearly we'll have more real criticisms.

The funny thing is I question reviews of people that have only played it for a few minutes, but I question negative reviews by people who played it for over 1,000 hours or something lol

But I give more notice to steam reviews and Amazon verified reviews than I do most other sites.

Most times I only read reviews to determine a purchase if I'm extremely unaware about the product and it's simply an Impulse Buy.

thorstein2805d ago

1% reported issues...of millions of people.

1% of 1 million is 10,000 people.

And for every "bad review" there are millions of people enjoying and playing this right now.

Nivekki2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

What about the people who didn't report the issues, what percentage do they make up? Oh sorry, you're just a shill, you won't care about that.

nix2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

Nivekki,

the article is about "reported issues"... and even then the sheer number of buyers outweighs the reporters. you are talking as if the percentage is going to be 50%.

2805d ago Replies(1)
kevnb2805d ago

Most of the negative reviews were for the same reasons the ps4 version got negative reviews.

C-H-E-F2805d ago

I think alot of these people complaining don't own the game. Everyone I know that has the game enjoys it alot. The game crashed on me about 3 times, but I was playing 2k16 over the weekend and guess what... it crashed on me as well... Things happen. people with no sense of how development works and or how things work lash out and just want to create a stir for something that's nothing. I've logged maybe 35 hours into the game, and for what the game is it's really good. I can see some updates making it even better.

pcz2805d ago

no mans sky is shovelware.

the sort of people who buy shovelware arent the type to complain.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2804d ago

When I do play, I play four to five hours at a time I experience anything that could be considered an issue is when a discovery is made or an event occurs. It causes the game to stutter a bit while it loads the details of whatever is happening. I don't know what other issues people maybe experiencing, but the issues don't seem to be widespread.

lelo2play2804d ago (Edited 2804d ago )

I highly doubt that only 1% are complaining or reporting issues. I call it BS from Hello Games.

Just on Steam the game has 45% negative reviews and a lot of them reporting issues.

MrBobSugar2804d ago

You'd be surprised. How many copies have been sold? 1 out over every hundred would still mean hundreds or several thousand(?) players. Being pissed off is a hellava motivator to vent in posts. It could be noisy. Ultimately though, if this is the case, 1% is still a high amount.

2804d ago
mogwaii2804d ago

Mostafeto2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

Tbh, I am just happy they are even trying to fix it quickly, instead of waiting for weeks and months for the game's performance to get smoother and playable.

2805d ago
Thatguy-3102805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

That master race! Just give them time. They seem to be on top of everything when it comes to this game. The next patch should fix things

Mostafeto2805d ago

Exactly man. I am not mad at Hello Games or Sean Murray AT ALL. The game's hype kind of made things a lot harder on them than it already is. Just give them some time people.

mogwaii2804d ago

Couple of weeks we wont be hearing shit about this bull crap game, redundant.

USMC_POLICE2805d ago

I've had no crashes on ps4 since launch, everyone else apparently is.

Mostafeto2805d ago

I think optimizing things on PS4 or even Xbox One is a bit easier than doing it on PC, so that's why relatively fewer people experienced issues on the PS4 version.

_-EDMIX-_2805d ago

Lucky!

I've had about 4 or 5 but over the span of playing for about 50 hours.

USMC_POLICE2805d ago

I shut down the ps4 when I'm done playing and don't go to xmb when playing it. That may be part of the issue.

joeorc2805d ago

EDMIX-_3h ago
Lucky!

[I've had about 4 or 5 but over the span of playing for about 50 hours.]

Average about 1 crash every 10 Hours than, not a bad or terrible crash data matrix, could be better of course, with updates that should be limited even further the number of crashes.

Did those happen over lengths of time soon all in a recent row or here or there a few hours between each crash?

mogwaii2804d ago

50 hrs of DOING THE SAME DAMN THING!

NotoriousWhiz2804d ago

@mogwaii, You know what else I can spend 50 hours on? Playing tennis, basketball, Frisbee, street fighter, socom (pre hackers), and starcraft. And all of those consist of doing the same thing.

Exoil2804d ago

I'd say you're lucky Edmix. I had 10 crashes just yesterday, and I didn't play that much.

The game crashes when warping, but it gets better if I access the star map, goes back to game, and the access the star map again and warps.
The game also crashes when sending in my discoveries, but it gets better if I go to the journal before going back into the game.
Getting into the ship also crashes the game, but not as frequently as the other two.

All in all, it's the most crashing game I've ever played on the PS4.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 2804d ago
thorstein2805d ago

There was a menu bug at launch that caused a crash. That, and I played for like 5 hours straight.

The game is awesome. So awesome that when it did crash on me, I left a note as to what happened, sent the report and restarted without feeling any consternation.

The menu bug (PS4) was me hitting options, then quickly going to inventory because I mistakenly pressed the wrong button. It happened often enough that I know that was what caused the crash. So, I started being more patient with the menus.

_-EDMIX-_2805d ago

Thats the one that has happened to me the most!

LordMaim2805d ago

Oh I've had a ton of crashes on PS4. Mind you, none of the other weirdness that people who attack No Man's Sky are fond of showcasing. I've been having fun, but it literally is four or five crashes a night. Luckily error reporting is built right into the console now, making it easier to track down issues.

Nothing that another round of patching can't fix.

pyroxxx2805d ago (Edited 2805d ago )

You guys are incredibly lucky I think,.. I started saving way more,.. Especially since I am clearing trophies and progress actually matters,..Crashed on a 1 warp 3 times consecutively (and it wasnt far,.. only 1 space rebooted PS4),.. There was also a upgrade node for a gun which made it crash every time,.. then there is a pause menu thing that likes to screw it(might have to do with checking with servers).

But what I think of it,.. I think it is absolutely fucking brilliant,.. Hope they add more mechanics but what is there is amazing,.. Especially once you build up the jet packs and basically mele-boost like a boss,.. hell even traversal is fun as all hell.

GrimmyReaper2804d ago

I must be very lucky on my pc
For me personally, I have had no crash, no freezes and I could put the framerate on 90

But do hope it gets fixed soon for those that have problems

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos36d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts36d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook735d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka35d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka36d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

NotoriousWhiz36d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos36d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1736d ago
