Metal Gear Survive is a Total Disappointment

I think my money is gonna stay in my wallet this time around.

Hoffmann2807d ago

See it positive. More money for something else.

Summons752806d ago

More money to make a new Pachinko machine

TheCommentator2806d ago

Time to go back to Metal Gear Pachinko machines.

rezzah2805d ago

lol

They were better off not trying to make any AAA games after Kojima left.

SeanScythe2806d ago

wah wah wah, geez heaven forbid they do something different in the universe that isn't the same thing. I see nothing wrong with this, it's not affecting the other games in anyway. It's like if Naughty Dog made a coop survival game from the uncharted or last of us series. As long as they don't make it cannon and it's just using the engine, assets and mechanics from the MGS game there is nothing to worry about. Unlike COD this is going to be separate from the main games. It's like if COD made COD:Zombies instead of putting it in the next installment game.

Becuzisaid2806d ago

You clearly don't understand MGS

SeanScythe2806d ago

You clearly don't understand this isn't Metal Gear Solid, This is Metal Gear Survive.

SkolarVisari2806d ago

Yea. No. These zombie modes (And games in general.) are already played out. Konami could have made a co-op shooter with Rat Patrol 1. All this shows us is that they didn't even want to think about doing something creative, instead they want to come out with yet another zombie game. This is Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z all over again.

SeanScythe2806d ago

Says you. I enjoy games like this with friends.

Goldby2806d ago

I k ow they could have easily made it somewhat cannon by having it actually take place between the beginning of ground zeroes and the end if ground zeroes. Aka, that assault on MotherBase is a perfect setup for wave based horde modes.

It was litterly staring at them and they didnt even look at it. Instead ohhh lets make an alternate dimension, cuz none of us have a clue what kojima had in his head and are wrestling for ideas...

Xb1ps42806d ago

What a bs excuse to hate on a game you don't know much about... "Zombies are played out" lmfao...

Why does everyone think that the wheel has to be reinvented for every single game?!

And I'm not defending this game... It didn't get my interest.. They could have just gave it a new name with no metal or gear in it and had metal gear character cameos or something and gave it a metal gear feel but let the players tell you that instead of putting it out there for everyone..

I'm looking forward to days gone?! Can't think of the name if that's not it.. The one that was compared to tlou, played out or not that game looks good.

DarXyde2806d ago (Edited 2806d ago )

Metal Gear Solid pretty much always does something new. The most similar titles are 1 and Sons of Liberty where mechanics were expanded, but 3, 4, V, Peace Walker, and even Portable Ops featured what essentially amount to complete overhauls. AC!D even more so.

Doing something different is one thing. Doing something noticeably bad is...bad. Conceptually, it's probably not most fans' cup of tea.

Are you surprised? It's simply not an appealing idea. Plus, there are people who won't buy it because Kojima isn't making it. Personally, I don't know what exactly went down, but I know better than to trust Konami with franchises that no longer have key people working on them. Castlevania and the old title Snake's Revenge are testament to that. That, and Snake Eater pachinko is incredibly insulting to someone like me.

With that, it's a resounding "pass" from me.

SkolarVisari2806d ago

What I want to know is why bother doing the remaster for Pachinko machines? Who exactly is their market for this within Japan? Why go after a tired meme in the form of Zombies (The co-op thing is not a bad idea by itself.) after saying you want fans back? Don't these people see how many big name games there are that already have zombies in them as one of their defining features?

DarXyde2806d ago

SkolarVisari,

Who really knows? At this point, expect Metal Gear to stagnate. I'm pretty sure Konami, more than anything, will stick to a trusted formula and not try to give these games anything in the way of innovation. Zombies are not a positive addition. Granted, we've seen pseudo zombies in the form of SOP soldiers and VCP enemies in V, but this just seems like a try hard break into the genre. My guess is we'll see future games not really try to expand upon The Phantom Pain mechanics. It could become completely multiplayer so they can justify microtransactions out the wazoo while also not interfering with the universe itself. Alternatively, they could just do remakes.

I don't expect much in the way of quality regardless. Take note. This could very well be the first poorly rated MG title since Snake's Revenge.

Goldby2806d ago

I heard "pass" like tank from madtv

GrubsterBeater2806d ago

I was laughing so hard in the trailer, as soon as the ship is sinking, they then go " You think the ship just sank in MGS V? NOPE! MOTHER F#%@#& GETTIN' SUCKED INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION!!"

Hahaha, oh man! That was so funny.

The Metal Gear Series Has Sold Over 60 Million Copies Worldwide

In a new corporate update, Konami has revealed that since its launch in 1987, the Metal Gear series has sold over 60 million copies worldwide.

GaboonViper262d ago (Edited 262d ago )

Well done Metal Gear, my second favourite gaming franchise behind Resident Evil, i still hope Bluepoint are working on a Metal Gear Solid remake for PS5, that would be my gaming dream.

When Bluepoint teased their next game at Christmas the unrevealed game was in a plain cardboard box with a upside down exclamation point........it surely could only mean one thing.......SNAAKKKKEEEEE.

I've stared at the picture for a while and I don't see an upside down exclamation mark anywhere on that box. I'm more puzzled by the Leviathan axe than anything else to be honest.

Notellin261d ago

He's reaching. It's just the bow on the box upside down.

Z501261d ago

"that would be my dream"

Not Twin Snakes? The first "remake"

TheColbertinator261d ago

Konami needs to redeem themselves

sadraiden261d ago

1 of those copies was a metal gear survive.

I wonder if they will remove the load screens? I kind of hope they do.

Tankbusta40312d ago

"In addition, the game will likely lack the bizarre charm, humor, and depth that can only be found in games that Kojima himself worked on."

If its a remake that stays loyal to the source material how is this an issue?

Kojima cultists are wacky

jznrpg312d ago

If they change the script that’s where they would f up big time. They would be stupid to do that

MIDGETonSTILTS17311d ago

Try not to pivot from the smartest enemies ever to zombies.

Those aren't "Solid" games tho.

chicken_in_the_corn938d ago

They're still part of the main series

Z501938d ago

"They're still part of the main series"
No one said otherwise.

MG 1 and 2 aren't Solid games tho. Title literally says "Solid"

Just stating facts.

RaidenBlack938d ago

Pachinko ... loads of 'em.

porkChop938d ago

Likely nothing. After Survive failed Konami knows they can't capitalize on that franchise without Kojima. And Kojima doesn't want to make MGS games anymore, for a decade he kept saying he wanted to make other games.

Gridknac938d ago

Bingo! We got a winner here, show them what they have won!

Nyxus938d ago

It's so frustrating that we hear absolutely nothing. Remember, this is what Konami said six years ago: https://www.metalgearinform...

RaidenBlack938d ago

Lets guess that Konami wants the MGS franchise to continue to be multi-platform. Hence don't want to partner with either MS or Sony.
They can easily collab with other Japanese studios (if Konami is unwilling to do MGS with non-Japanese devs) for future games, like they did with MGR:R.
Hypothetical like: Even though Capcom is a long rival, but given the recent state of Konami, they can partner up with Capcom for an awesome MGS revival. Konami directs and publishes, while a Capcom sub-team just develops the game using the RE engine.

MIDGETonSTILTS17938d ago

They could easily remake old MGS games with the TPP game mechanics and engine, but they won’t.

It’s a shame one of the most innovative game directors also spent most of his career establishing his ideas with a company that doesn’t take pride in innovation.

Pachinko machines work for Konami, so they will continue that until it doesn’t.

Z501938d ago (Edited 938d ago )

"easily"
MGS1 was isometric. Not tps or fps.The first person view is what broke Twin Snakes (Gray Fox & Ocelot fights)

How would the laser sight tracking on handguns from MGS1 work using TPP game mechanics and engine for example?

MIDGETonSTILTS17936d ago

You might have to think over a few hallways for the older games, but that is being done right now for Dead Space.

And for your second point, I guess they could not have lasers?

I’m not saying it would be an “easy” copy paste job, but it could absolutely be done in a profitable manner. Or, they could just make another pachinko machine.
