Valve gives its response to the gambling situation, but is it all a bit too late?
An independent UK developer says it’s been forced to announce and postpone its game on the same day, and lay off more than half of its staff, due to the sharp downturn in investment in the games industry.

I personally do remember Infogrames in the years prior to merger. They really did have a portfolio that stuck out and I enjoyed. I wonder what value they see in reviving it now though?

This sounds worse than the rationalization that pachinko isn't gambling because you can't exchange the balls for money within the establishment; you must make the perilous trek to... the building next door. With virtual items you don't even have to leave the comfort of your home. Valve isn't kicking any gambling sites of the backend and this article says as much, they are just simply sending them a harshly-worded letter asking them not to use it.
It only took a week of public outcry and two lawsuits for Valve to get off their ass and do something about this.
