Symbian growth takes a hit as platform faces transition

Ars Technica: "Smartphone OS maker Symbian appears to be suffering a growth slowdown a bit more than some of its competitors. The company reported in its quarterly results today that it had sold 19.6 million units during the second quarter of 2008, reflecting a mere 5 percent growth over the same quarter in 2007. Comparatively, Symbian's first quarter growth rate was 16.5 percent year-over-year, although the latest drop may only be temporary as Symbian's business strategy changes and handset makers launch new devices."
