Here are a few images of the Xbox 360 IPTV interface.
Another bullet point the PS3 doesn't have.
MS will probably do a sign up for a year of service recieve a free 120gig HD. I know this will happen. Hell they might even give away 360's if you sign up for the service 2 year contract.
I need as much high definition content as I can get my hands on. I can't get enough of it! It's awesome. Thank you Microsoft!!!
If a gold subscription is all you need, i hope so. If they charge extra I am willing to pay because I hate my current satellit service. I have been looking into IP TV and now I don't have to have an extra set-top box, just one of my 360's.
I think I really like this.. Now to convince the Wife :\
Depends if you need to convince her. What if they just add this as an extra under the gold XBL membership to add value and even make a bigger gap then already the size of the ocean between a premium service like XBL and the PNP Sony sh!tty network? I am curious for the day when it arrives! This would be great, IPTV and if it's in HD quality I am sold and kick out my subscription on PAL quality the day it's there. Even if I need to pay for it. I pay 16 Euro a month to watch sh!tty quality cable TV so as long as it's cheaper then that no pain!
I will go get 2 more 360's and laugh that the PS'3 I sold after launch just paid for them. If not I will pay extra if it offers me a better alternative to my crap Cable TV with DVR
I can't wait for this service to roll out on 360! I really hope that by the time this is released that downloads will be much faster through live!
Nice find Kingboy! And well I be damned you are transforming from a die hard Sony fanboy to show some luv for the 360. Will you be buying a 360 soon? They're out in France also ;) Thanks for the video I like what I see. And yes I will also buy a 2nd 360 for this for the other TV. I bet even my parents will want one after seeing it. And they're over 60 years old but own a HDTV. This will sell 360's again it looks freakin' good
This service would make me drop Tivo in a heartbeat. Not to mention it would add a second 360 to my household. I can't wait to see how this will work in full detail. Although, the only thing that I worry about is that the video marketplace is still not working as it should. My experience with Superman HD was a complete joke. I just hope its ready to go when they release it and not totally half @ssed!
I thought that the 360 could somehow connect to up to 5 tv's in the house hold from 1 console! Back when 360 was launched they were talking about that, and if true there wouldn't be a reason to buy a second 360! Does anyone else here happen to remember hearing about this feature?
that video is cool! will us europeans be shown some iptv love? if so im getting a hdtv, media remote and dropping the laggy, dropping wireless and go straight for wired. dont care if i have to drill a million holes in a million walls, this is sweeeeeet
unfreaking believable. it's like falling in love all over again...
I would have to save this is very impressive. Now to see what they're gonna do about a bigger HD.
wow.. finally a microsoft story awesome enough that the sony fanboys havent even opened their mouth yet. speachless! haha. i guess playing an extra $200 for that betaray player dont seem like such an "awesome value" now that 360 owners have 3 (2 built in) ways to get hd tv/movies. i actually own a ps3 just waiting for the good games but i think it's just about official, as soon as they announce mgs4 on 360 (which WILL happen, maybe not on day one but ill wait 6 months to recoup ~$400 i can get for the ps3), it's gone.
first time i heard of this, whats the story with it? release dates region ect?
1. HDD size can be an issue if you record HD content. Hell 60 gigs will not be big enough. 2. What type of speen will I need. I'm at 6mbs. Will I be able to can on live in one room while some one else watches TV in another. 3. Cost (maybe we will know more by the end of the year). I will tell directv to kiss my but if it's competative and reliable. I'll put a 360 in every room for this. 4. What channels will they offer.
i have some limited experience with iptv and i can answer some of those questions. 1. it's 120gb by then. plenty for wmvhd video (thats like 60 hours encoded). guys who want iptv with 20 gig hard drives will just upgrade. see... modularity is a good thing. 2. considering it doesnt use the internet (it's a direct connection like usenet) 6mbps is more than adequate for 2 tv's. the reason is that you're not at "6mbps" actually getting less than 1mbps like on the internet. you're using the full bandwidth of whatever connection you have. iptv is actually a misnomer as the technology doesnt use ip at all. 3. iptv is cheap. thats why it exists. if it werent cheaper there would be no need for it. same as ip phone service. 4. depends who you get your service through, just like cable. hope that helps.
Helped alot. I will look into this. I love HDTV service that I get but if I can get it cheaper I will. A 80 gb HD recorder from direct tv is $300(off the self for old customers). A HDD upgrade is a no brainer.
I dunno if you guy recall that MS signed a contract a loooooong time ago with directv and there was rumors about a directv blade coming to 360....I thik this a better way to do this and I am very happy Xbox 360 owner...got it the day it came out. never had a problem with it. my directv contract just ended and I was thinking of going with dishnetwork (cheaper)for now.... ....I have a HD receiver that I paid for a tivo 2 dishes and 2 standard receivers....what am i going to do with all this crap???
You have any HD Tivo/receivers to sell? :)
site but the video would not play. I really wanted to get an idea on how it worked.
If Gold subscription is all that is required then I am very happy!
