Google's new web browser, Google Chrome, is now available for download.
damn, that was quick. Edit: Got it, I like! :D
is great. I downloaded it about half an hour ago and have been messing around with it since. It has definitely claimed the "preferred internet provider" spot on my computer!
I MISS ADBLOCK PLUS Other than that, I have to say it's a nice finished browser indeed.
definitely needs this browser....... EDIT:Its kind of slow 4 me, don't know why but its faster than the PS3 browser. I'll use it a little more. Whoa, never mind now its really working fast. Loading videos on this browser kind of sucks but it's a beta. It'll get there.
I agree this really needs addons especially adblock plus, but other than that it is fantastic. Really does compete with Firefox IMO, plus the installer is tiny (under 500kb), and webpages load amazingly fast.
It could actually get it, Life with PlayStation is a collaboration with Google if I'm not mistaken, so that could just happen
this is technically not game related news....
I like the concept. I hope google will have addon support websites and repositories like mozilla has.
Thats why its in the Tech category
acid test scores?
going incognito is a cool feature and a funny. 'Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys' rofl! good start but it needs the features of a more thorough bred browser before it becomes my default.
79/100 on Google Chrome 71/100 on Firefox3
It's really quite good. It definitely replaces IE and Firefox for me. Well done Google, I can see this catching on FAST.
I really like the finished product, very simplistic and smooth. Edit: Just found the Page Finder, nice feature. Edit 2: Does anybody else notice who fast pages loads?
no mac version
versions coming soon.
yeah, i'm *gasp* going to install windows on my Mac to test it out until the Mac version arrives
the fist thing i tried was the zoom feature... mmmmm... back to Firefox
Wow it's great.
Meh Firefox has more features and plugins and is slightly faster so why bother changing to something which is almost as good as Firefox
in beta form. i already like this one more (edit: visually), the plug-ins will just make it heavenly. give it time.
I really need the download helper add-on so i can download songs & etc that can't even be downloaded.
I don't care about IE so is it better than Firefox?? I can't download it yet since i'm at work but i'm curious to hear what you guys think.
it has a much nicer style to it than Firefox. but it is a bit slower and doesn't have as many feature. it is a hell of a lot simpler. if u care a lot about style than get it. if not than forget it. dose have a nice spell check too.
Err it's not better then Firefox IMO + it's just beta it will get plugins later.
damn its fast ill give it that..I like some of the features like windows of you're previous history when you open a new tab...i wonder what kind of add-ons it will get
thanks but no thx. i m w/firefox 4 life.
google chrome is brilliant for NON power users
Chrome looks good but is to early for me to switch. Back to Opera.
So I don't plan on using this. Firefox has always been free and has always provided the best addons, specially with ubiquity.
add this to the PS3 ASAP this should be part of the Google/Sony deal.
damn it hates RSS Feeds now that sucks
BE WARNED: the comic wasn't kidding about the "1 tab == 1 process" bit. Open a lot of tabs and then take a look at the Task Manager. this thing is more of a resource hog than FireFox now that's saying something
your memory usage will remain stable...whereas FF will leak over time and exceed this. Google already said it...more upfront call on your memory but stable over time.
Kspray is right. Chrome is more stable.
Chrome is pretty great. It's not much of a looker right now, but it's build on WebKit so it renders pages perfectly and very quickly. Firefox is great in many respects, but when it comes to a lot of things - the things that Chrome, and the WebKit project, are addressing it falls flat on its face. Google and Apple are now doing more to move the web forward than Mozilla can claim to. Isn't that the reason we loved Firefox in the first place? Bringing the web out of its coma? Don't be so quick to hate on Chrome - read about what they are doing. The future of the web is a big deal and they, along with the WebKit project - and Mozilla to a lesser degree, are actually doing something about it. I for one hope that Mozilla gets on board with WebKit and starts developing technology that aims to actually improve the web.
Is still the best browser out there; but i'll give this one a shot once i get home... God damn PC here at work has Windows 2000 (which is a good OS! but out-dated)!!!! xD
if its a easy process then firefox will be left in the dust but to a power user like me my add-ons are THE most important part of firefox
im sticking with firefox
It would be awhile until I can see it replacing FF. It IS better than IE. Not memory intensive and really fast. I actually like the "previously viewed pages" tab! That thing is pretty cool. Perhaps with some good iGoogle integration (if you haven't checked out iGoogle...do it!) This browser could be the champ for me. For now it is still FF all the way!
I just downloaded it and so far I love it. Could possibly replace Firefox for me. EDIT Just discovered a cool feature, you can drag the Tabs out of the window and create a new window. You can also put it back :O
Chrome is much MUCH slower then Firefox 3. I have 14 x Firefox open ATM with I guess something like 7 to 8 tabs at least and it seems to take up less memory then one time Chrome with two blades or something like that. Or something else is slowing it down. Heck, even IE6 is faster in building up a page then Chrome...
14 pages of porn? :)
Crome is crap, boring and for newbies.
It's anything but ****. I use Firefox for 2 years now and I'll use Chrome now because it's faster. Sure might be more boring and no add on, but to some people speed is more important.
dont like it at all
I've noticed a fatal flaw, for me anyways, when you go to close it out with multiple tabs open it just closes it, doesn't even ask me. With Firefox I can save that session and close it out and come back later. Even though it is faster I won't be using it as my main browser.
At the risk of sounding like a jerk, let me say that I'm being bluntly honest here. If you call that a fatal flaw then let me ask how long you have been using FF and know better... I mean FF users (new IE) automatically know that if you close the browser then everything will close... I mean when you shut off an application... the application CLOSES! I know what you are saying, but I am just pointing out one thing... what N00B constantly closes their browser and says... "Oh no...all my tabs are gone" I learned after the 3rd time or so after I turned off my FF prompt back when I was transitioning from IE before they copied FF and added tabs. As far as saving last visited tabs... this is a beta so yeah I can't wait for then to add that option later as well. Anyways to your main point, Fatal Flaw?... Fatal?
This cracked me up in Incognito mode. Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of: *Surveillance by secret agents* *People standing behind you*
Been using for about a half an hour and its pretty good for beta, it loads up pages rather quickly, haven't had any problems yet, the resources are pretty good hasn't hit the CPU hard.
but but but internet explorer? lol
I just downloaded it and I can't believe how much faster it is LOL. It's like I have a new internet connection. It's actually faster then Firefox which some people here claim was not the case.
