Please DO get more exciting. So far over the last 27 years of my life the gaming industry has gone downhill time and time and time and time again for each generation.

Now we have a generation that can't even support itself, and 1, "must have", title a year. yay. <------ *I can't make the font smaller*

God I miss the days when I had to pick between 5 legendary games that were out at any given time of the year on 1 single platform. I can only beat Bloodborne SO many times before I can never look at it again...

I'm not overly stimulated like i used to be in gaming, but I still find good things to enjoy about it, because there are good things there.

If all you are here for is finding the negatives, then it's just time for you to leave. No amount of complaining like a 5 year old is going to change anything, as you aren't doing anything to promote the good aspects of gaming that do exist.

If gaming is bringing you so much torment to be so angry and bitter, then it's just time to take a step back, and find something positive to bring into your life.

I have my criticisms of the industry and games themselves. Quite a few of them actually. I even express them on here quite regularly.

This guy though, never has anything positive to say. He's always bitter and hateful about any and everything involving games and the industry, and goes about his arguments in the most unproductive of ways. I suggested to him he should step back and leave, because that kind of resentment isn't healthy, and shows an addictive personality that isn't being satiated by video games.

And no, not everyone else is complaining like a 5 year old. Just the guy I responded too, who's entire comment history reads like the original post.

You, for instance, have your criticisms, and things you don't like, but can still find positive aspects to enjoy, even if they don't line up exactly like you'd want. I'm the same way. Even though we disagree on some things, at least you have an interest in seeing games improve, and are able to express your approval or disapproval in the proper way by saying why you don't like something, and what you do like. I challenge you to find anything in jession's comment history that states what it is he does like. Apparently only Bloodborne has satisfied him for over a year now....that's not normal for a gamer.

You call other people out for being immature, but then think jession is OK despite saying that the industry is imploding, despite all evidence showing it's actually growing, and him stating there is only one must play game a year...if we're lucky. He's a joke, and I can't believe you, someone who actually is a gamer and can make valid criticisms, would defend him and his silly hyperbole. Then you go on to say the AAA industry is only catering to one demographic...which is a complete moronic statement. There is plenty of variety in the AAA market. It's fairly homogenized within different genres, but it caters to those who buy AAA games, not the random people who feel they're special and might buy a game, but more often than not don't.

As opposed to what? The indie market?

Is it a platformer or a puzzle game? Is it a story driven game with a weak story and barely any game play or a full fledged AAA game?

There is plenty of variety in the AAA gaming market. You just choose to narrow your view on what a game is to block out the variety that exists. Yes, we have our yearly releases which gets lots of press coverage every year, but to say that that is all there is, or every game tries to be that is just narrow minded, and ignoring all the rest that is out there. We have racers, adventure games, interactive stories, RPG's, JRPG's, shooters, etc. The two things you mention are not the only defining metrics for variety, they are simply one of a few ways to actually present the games that are out there in the way people expect.

There is a lot of homogenization, but what exactly should there be that could be different to bring more variety in your eyes? There are only so many ways a game can be presented by today's gaming standards, and I find plenty of variety in AAA and less than AAA titles. So do many others, which is why the industry isn't imploding in on itself.

You seem to take a very narrow view on what a game is, not unlike jession does. If you only look at a couple aspects to determine there is no variety, then you are just as silly as he is.

I do feel there is a lack of innovation, but innovation isn't directly tied to variety. So maybe we're talking about two different things? If so, then there's really no point continuing this conversation...which there probably isn't anyways, because I can already see that you just want to complain and be right, without actually going deeper into the subject.

Leave the hobby? Who the fuck do you think you are? He's right, we don't have legendary games anymore. Where is our Chrono Trigger level RPG at? How about our Super Mario 64 level 3D Platformer? Where the hell are our legendary games at? Maybe you're satisfied with mediocrity or imperfection but we want our 10/10s back, and regularly.

No way. Not for me. I used to feel like I could actually keep up with all the games I wanted to play. Now I have a backlog a mile long and can't even begin to keep up with all the great games. Hell, even the current indie scene alone blows away the "good ol' days", imo.
