Xbox One Scorpio vs PS4 NEO Spec Analysis: The Power Difference Is Real But Does It Matter?

Post-E3, there’s no need to step lightly around the positively ginormous elephant in the room anymore: The console gaming space has changed in fundamental, perhaps irreversible ways.

I can't wait until the neo's specs get an official reveal so we can really get this console war started between the two. I don't care what anybody says, I love it.

SpaceRanger2864d ago

I think the more important thing is the Game Difference. You can have the most powerful console, but if all you have is a handful of recycled franchises it's useless. Luckily Sony has both this gen and had the same last gen with the PS3.

Kiwi662864d ago

So heres a question for you , what if the neo is the more powerful one and they use the same recycled franchises for it would you say its useless or would you still praise it seeing as you prefer ps

BossBattle2864d ago

Remasters are definitely considered recycled.

Satou2864d ago

I think it totally matters. In it's current rumored state Neo is about 2x as powerful as PS4-OG, which means most games will only get a fps doubling to 60 fps. I want the graphics to be improved also, which will require more power, so the rumored CPU upgrade is totally relevant to me. I'm hoping it gets added for 4.6-5 TFLOPS. I don't care about the price... $449-499 is fine with me.

2864d ago
DJustinUNCHAIND2864d ago

Are you saying Sony has recycled franchises?

freshslicepizza2864d ago

people talk about it being the games and i agree 100% but lets be honest, people love their graphics and love to compare. at the end of the day we are all very fortunate to even have these toys. just look at how far technology has come. you can play with people all around the word or play alone on the biggest screen you can afford with lovely sound.

darthv722864d ago

@djustin... they all do. Nintendo has mario, zelda, metroid. Sony has GT, GoW, Ratchet. And MS has Halo, Forza and Gears. (just to name a few from each)

conanlifts2864d ago

Recycled franchises? You mean sunset overdrive, ryse, quantum break Scalebound etc? Both consoles have new and recycled franchises.

Pongwater2864d ago

Even the recycled big titles don't matter now that they're multiplats. The bigger question to me is why buy the box at all? It will be cheaper and better from a tech point of view to simply buy or build a PC to play on your TV.

miyamoto2864d ago

Power only matters if it is used to make critically and commercially acclaimed award winning games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus, FFXII, God of War, FFVII, etc.

Kleptic2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

I'll never understand what happened this generation with the comparisons of hardware...I understood it with the 360 and PS3, where both consoles had gpu's that weren't even available to the PC market at the time...but in 2013, something happened...

The rumored specs of the neo put it in line with having an R9 280x...underclocked...that is a Tahiti gpu released in 2011 and still underclocked from desktop versions...please let that sink in, as that is a gpu over twice as powerful as what is currently in the PS4...the clear winner of the two current gen consoles...it'll be 5 years old before it shows up in a freaking UPDATED console...

the Scorpio is more around a 980Ti/TitanX theoretical performance wise...but zero information on what is actually in there, or even who made it...that is fine and great, but the important part:

...NEITHER of these gpu's are what it takes for 4k in modern games at higher visual settings...the contradiction is that console fanatics stomped and yelled about how 900/60fps or 1080/30fps is 'all you need', and arguments of convenience like 'immersive' or 'cinematic' effects being 'better' at lower framerates or even lower resolution came from it...

but now? the scorpio is a 4k machine? It took a pair of the similar performance cards to do that on nearly any modern game released in the past year, and that's with newer PC api's that mimic low level optimization that consoles enjoy...if the neo has a 280x equivalent, forget it without drastic visual settings drops...a 280x can't 4k BF4, a PS4/XBO launch game, even using mantle...an api derived from the apu's in both consoles...and the scorpio won't even be here for 18 months...are games going to magically become easier to run at 4k by then?

Either way...I hope the real lesson is that this generation has been a hardware problem since day 1...People have been fighting over which mid range laptop is more powerful since mid 2013, and it doesn't make sense...These new consoles are a step in the right direction ONLY because both hardware makers are realizing how dated the equipment is...but, neither are going to run anything like uncharted 4, or Doom, or any great looking recent game...at anything close to 4k...that I promise...

UltimateMaster2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Current PC owners that can already play the Microsoft games better than Scorpio are better off buying the PS4 NEO to be able to play PS4 exclusive games better.
Scorpio is for technology enthusiasts who don't want to invest in PC gaming.

Neonridr2864d ago

interesting, considering this gen has been largely played up as the 900p vs 1080p based on the sheer number of articles we saw. So I'm guessing that power means quite a bit actually. Or is it only when Sony has the most powerful hardware that power matters?

Games matter? Now you sound like us Nintendo fans ;)

agame9142864d ago

@space ranger your talking about Xbox right when you say the same recycled franchises?

Nathan_Hale532864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

@Kiwi66
There are always 'recycled' franchises each gen.

@martinatalex
You need a good CPU to actually handle the power. If the CPU is the exact same for the new consoles, then it is there are gonna be issues

@Xmarkthespot
Can you link where you got all this information on the PS4 Neo's power? Plus 'better' network, and controller options is an opinionated statement. I also wanna know how many people own useless 4k TV's cause hardly anything supports that resolution, and 30fps at 4k is ass. Pretty ass. I'd prefer 60+ fps on 1080p, which is why I have a 1080p 120hz tv. Making 4k a goal for the Scorpio is a marketing tactic and a joke since more powerful PC's cannot run 4k at more than 40ish frames. They should aim for 2k as it is a lot more feasible and looks pretty similar, but 2k TV's don't exist.

You love console wars? lol

On topic: at this point in time, I think it will matter most to those that are not invested in these services. If it wasn't for the exclusives, one would almost always choose the better option.

The problem with Scorpio is that some of its potential consumer base will move over to PC gaming. Why wait when you can enjoy Xbox exclusives on a powerful PC that can positively annihilate the current Xbox.

I know some people like the console experience, so do I, but is that enough to hold one back?

@DarkWolf_NZ

This might come as a surprise to some of the ignorant Xbox fanboys, PC gamers often buy consoles for their exclusives. With the play anywhere initiative, there's little to no incentive in purchasing an Xbox if you already have a capable gaming PC.

Furthermore, building and maintaining a gaming PC has never been as easy as it is today. Some people will switch to PC regardless, and some will see the benefits of playing Xbox games on a PC.

Xbox hardware consumer base will shrink further.

DARK_WOLF2864d ago

Console gaming doesnt change if someone else can play the same game on their pc.

If i game on console ima be buying a console.

The excuse u gave only relat

Walter_Official2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

I don't know how you are getting all these dislikes. The reason i bought a Ps4 was for their exclusives, same with the Xbox One. Now that "Play Anywhere" is a thing i've lost interest in it. Yeah its nice for when i need to travel and I want to play one of the exclusives. But thats not the majority of the time, the majority of my gaming is done on PC. I cant say i don't like the idea of being able to play all Xbox exclusives on my PC but i'm not seeing the pros for the Xbox (Not microsoft) in this plan.

Edit: @tinynuggins I dont see where the additional sales are coming from though. Yeah you are combining both so technically a larger player base and PC only players can experience the Xbox Brand "Exclusives" .

Mithan2864d ago

Actually, it doesn't shrink. If the games are playable on BOTH the PC and Xbox, it will grow.

Sharky2312864d ago

I think Microsofts true goal is to expand the windows store. They are now trying to compete with steam and other online stores. With the Xbox they can also compete with Sony. While I think in the end they could end up shrinking the Xbox install base. The Windows install base could grow a great amount. I've always been more of a PlayStation fan. I've owned an Xbox for a few of the exclusive but I will probably now buy a pic to play all those games. I can play games that Xbox won't have in their store as well as the pick of the lot in the Windows store. I'll always buy PlayStation because you can only get their exclusive on console. I can't help but wonder how many people will be in the same
boat?

tinynuggins2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Couldn't disagree more. I'm a console gamer. You could give me a gaming rig and I'd never use it. The idea of gaming on a pc just doesn't appeal to me. The majority of console gamers would agree.

@walter
The pros for Xbox are more people to play with and additional sales leading to higher chance of more games.

sammarshall1022864d ago

I'm well aware of PC gaming

But no, I'm buying the Scorpio

thejigisup2864d ago

@tinynuggins, I totally understand that you may be adverse to using a real nice gaming pc, however. Entry into the PC market has never been easier. Being able to upgrade whenever you see fit has never been easier or cheaper. The benefits to a gaming pc go far beyond what any console has on offer simply due to the OS. I think if you had a Gaming rig and it played all of your xbox games and then some(steam), and all of those sahhwweeettt games that won't be on the windows store, with the option to connect to your television and still utilize your xbox controller, as well as having the option for the oculus, or the vive you'd be hard pressed to not move to the pc world. It just makes sense. I personally will continue to have a Playstation and a PC, i'm getting the best of both worlds without having to buy an xbox. I think it's very wrong of you to say most console gamers would agree. I think most console gamers(xbox owners) are scratching their heads thinking hmm maybe i should build/buy a pc. I recommend ibuypower.com they are pretty awesome and you can find a decent rig there for real cheap and much better than what the current xb one and the scorpio will offer. For those super L33t gamers or anyone with just a little confidence, bc theres no skill involved anymore, just build a daggone pc.

ONESHOTV22864d ago

dude you are spewing the same sh-t over and over get over yourself... i'm a pc gamer and i can tell you that not every has the money to build a rig. did that sink in to your brain ?

vickers5002864d ago

" I think most console gamers(xbox owners) are scratching their heads thinking hmm maybe i should build/buy a pc."

Lol, no, just.. no. I mean no offense, but saying "most console gamers/xbone owners are thinking about building a pc" is absolutely ridiculous when the majority of console owners of any system don't even know what the hell steam is, and don't even know that you can play games on a computer that aren't World of Warcraft.

I myself built a 980 dollar rig a while ago during ps3/360 times and have barely used it for gaming, despite buying a ton of cheap games on steam and a bunch of humble bundles. I even tried playing multiplats I'd already played on ps3 on my pc, but I still preferred the ps3 version even after. No muss, no fuss. Plug and play. And I'm even pretty tech savvy myself, I've built computers before (did it as a job once actually), so it's not like I don't know how to maintain a pc, I just don't want to because it's too much work in comparison to a console.

I have a few other reasons for why I'd rather stay on consoles, but the no maintenance AT ALL aspect is probably the biggest.

Bobafret2864d ago

I honestly don't know where to start.

starchild2864d ago

I'm a PC gamer and I own a PS3 and PS4 too in order to play some of the great Sony exclusives I enjoy. I do see that more people will probably come to PC now that you can play Microsoft exclusives on there (and also just because it gets a ton of games in general and has a lot of other cool benefits). But to be honest I also see certain other people staying on consoles or maybe even giving up PC gaming now that they can get a pretty good experience on these Neo and Scorpio consoles.

I won't pretend to know exactly how it will all pan out, but I would estimate that overall it will probably be close to a wash. Some people will go to PC and leave behind consoles or use them less, while other people may stay on consoles and decide not to game on PC.

I wish gamers could just be happy that gaming is thriving and that there are plenty of different options no matter what your tastes are.

illtownNJONE2864d ago

Console gamers love playing on console

krypt19832864d ago

That's the point genius xbox wants yout to buy the game not the console, they don't make money off consoles never have never will, they know if your going to buy a box then your going to buy it, it's genius what Microsoft is doing period...

Nathan_Hale532864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

@DarkWolf_NZ
It changed for me back in 2012 I went from console to PC cause I really wanted to mod Fallout, World at War, and Elder Scrolls. And once I tried, I loved it. Still have my mid range PC from back then running games fine with only a upgrade to ram, and soon a full upgrade. Honestly, I do miss the PS exclusives quite a bit; Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank just to name a few, but I emulate the old PS2 games and all the multiplats and GOOD indies run better and sell for cheaper typically. Now Xbox exclusives are coming to PC. Absolutely no reason not to buy a PC now, when you can grab any controller of your choice and play on one without trouble, I use a 360 controller when I decide to kick back an relax, but Keyboard and Mouse is the way to go. Still a reason to grab a console, but imo, not an xbox for their decision on Window's 10 and Xbox 'exclusives'.

Nathan_Hale532864d ago

@Sharky
Windows 10 will try to compete with Steam and will fail. It is garbage. They really need to fix their issues and implementation.

Walter_Official2864d ago

Such a gorgeous game. Loved it even though it got a bit repetitive.

Rude-ro2864d ago

How does the Scorpio come into play? That is a next gen console.
Neo vs Xbox one S period

Rude-ro2864d ago

Oh the defense force is out strong today.

starchild2864d ago

That doesn't make much sense. The Neo is well over two times as powerful as the PS4, whereas the Xbox One S is the same power as the Xbox One.

Rude-ro2864d ago

@starchild
A. You have no clue what the specs are
B. Confirmed from House that is an elite version of the ps4
This far, that is the purpose.
They might change that but, every leak to this point takes the ps4 to 1080p 60fps gaming, 4K video, and improved stability for psvr
How is this compared to a next gen console?
It will not have the Xbox one name.
It 4K gaming and it will have exclusive ips and they will gimp the Xbox one versions.
That is a new console.
Microsoft has no hope unless the Scorpio has exclusives.
The ps4k is just like the S but Sony actually is giving more juice rather than a pointless 4K upscale.

Goldby2864d ago

@Starchild.

If the Xbox one s is the same power as xbox one, how are they going to manage 4k media, 1080p 30/60 fps with stability?

We have no idea what the specs are for the Xbox One S, my thinking is because its about the same as the Neo, which wouldn't put MS in the spot light they are in right now.

Spenok2864d ago

My biggest thing here is this.

The Scorpio isn't required for developers to make games on Xbox One, and it. MS has said developers have the choice to make games exclusively for the new platform. Meaning, it is technically a new system, and not just an upgraded Xbox One (which would make the most sense when you consider MS has only ever called it the Xbox Scorpio, and never with Xbox One in the name). So with that said, even IF it is intended to be an Xbox 1.5, MS won't be pushing out an Xbox Two or whatever random name they decided to call any time soon after Scorpio.

While on the other hand, the PS4 Neo IS an upgraded PS4, and EVERY game will be required to work on both the original PS4, and the Neo. Effectively giving Sony the leg up when they decided to release their PS5 in 2-3 years, and it's more powerful than the Scorpio, MS won't have a reply, as their console will be already 1-2 years old, and asking/making people upgrade from there would be disastrous.

So you would have a probably less powerful PS4 Neo competing with the Scorpio, likely out a year or so in advance of the Scorpio, then the PS5 releases within 1-2 years after Scorpio, and MS will running around with their pants down, screwed and out of options.

Which I think is intentional, especially when you consider how their E3 conference went. They start with the Xbox One S, then end with the Scorpio. It not only confuses people as to what their plans are, and many who would buy the Xbox One now may just wait for the Scorpio, if it would even be worth it. The PS4 will have a VASTLY larger install base, and the Neo will have already been out for almost a year, and will, even if slightly weaker, will be comparable. Yes, the Scorpio will be better, but will it be worth it to spend more on a new platform, when you can get everything on one you already own?

MS is basically setting themselves apart the way Nintendo has, and playing their own game. Especially when you consider that every game they are making from now on will be on PC as well. So for many, why buy an Xbox when you already have a capable PC?

I don't know, their strategy seems weird to me. They are trying to cater to everyone at the same time, and in so doing alienating themselves from the crowd. If they would just focus on what the gamers want, I.E. the exclusive games, people would be happier I think.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. See how Sony responds. And more importantly, see how the gaming community responds.

Master of Unlocking2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

"While on the other hand, the PS4 Neo IS an upgraded PS4, and EVERY game will be required to work on both the original PS4, and the Neo. "

Yup, pretty much exactly what I said in a previous comment. Plus, there's the price trap in addition to the time trap. Now that MS has unveiled their hand, Sony only has to ramp up the specs of the Neo a little to, say, 6TFLOPS, to lure MS into playing the pissing contest and also ramping up the specs of the Scorpio to, say, 8TFLOPS, and thus either pricing their Scorpio completely out of the range of what is deemed acceptable/commercially viable for a console, or selling the system at a huge loss.

starchild2864d ago

Neo and Scorpio are just working names or project names, which obviously has nothing to do with how they relate to the previous consoles. But based on what Sony and Microsoft have said, Neo and Scorpio are essentially the same thing: mid-gen upgrades that play the same discs or digital copies as the base consoles, only with higher graphical fidelity and framerates.

I don't see how Microsoft will be in any worse situation. They might get outsold due to other factors, but it won't be for the reason you assume.

I see a more likely scenario as this:

Fall 2016 - PS4 Neo releases
Fall 2017 - Xbox One Scorpio releases
2019 - PS5 releases
2020 - the next gen Xbox releases

I can virtually guarantee that neither Sony nor Microsoft are going to release these Neo and Scorpio consoles and then turn around and release another console in a year or two. They are almost certainly going to want to get a good few years out of them. Consumers, too, are going to want to get some good use out of them. Most people would be very upset if they try to release the next consoles too soon.

ChrisW2864d ago

Regardless of which future console has the lesser specs, it's always the fans of the one with lesser specs that say it doesn't matter. Xbox fans know this well.

starchild2864d ago

They both do. I've seen both camps flip flop on this issue. During the PS2 days Sony fans always said graphics didn't matter, simply because the original Xbox was so much more powerful. During the PS3/360 generation things got a little bit weird because the 360 nearly always had the better looking multiplats, but the PS3 had a few of the best looking exclusives on consoles, period. So they both had talking points and people would just vacillate depending on the context.

Then the PS4 ended up being more powerful than the XB1 so Sony fans started to put a heavy emphasis on graphics and Xbox fans started to downplay it. Now that it looks like Scorpio will likely outperform the Neo things are again swinging back the other way.

The truth is, most of us care about graphics to a fair degree. Not that they are the most important thing, but good graphics always make a good game even more enjoyable as a whole.

miyamoto2864d ago

It's not about the size but about how you use it.- Me

extermin8or2864d ago

This isn't a new generation so the power matters far less. Why? Because all games have to run sufficiently well on the Base models.

Deeke2864d ago

If the PS4 Neo releases in 2016, it'll likely match the specifications revealed in the leak. It could use a Polaris RX 470 derived GPU alongside an upjumped Jaguar CPU on an APU, but it likely won't use the new SoC designed by AMD simply because it'd take a lot of extra effort to redesign the APU into an SoC form factor with the Jaguar CPU.

However, since the Xbox One S releases this year and is powered by the AMD SoC, it's possible the Neo COULD use the SoC, too. The Xbox One S SoC (system on a chip, not an APU) likely uses the shrunken 20nm APU (back in 2014 AMD shrank the Xbox One's APU from 28nm to 20nm), so maybe the PS4 Neo uses a shrunken APU too.

Either way I'm worried that the older Jaguar CPU will bottleneck the Polaris GPU in some way...So really, expect the specs we've seen leaked so far. The PS4 Neo assuredly won't be more powerful than the Scorpio simply because the tech isn't ready yet.

AMD's 7th-generation APUs aren't ready, and Zen isn't ready. They won't be ready until 2017, hence why the Scorpio launches in Holiday 2017.

IamTylerDurden12864d ago

The fact that Neo comes out a yr before Scorpio is pretty significant. Neo will compete with xboneS this holiday, not Scorpio. Hopefully these idiotic comparisons with a console that is nearly 2 yrs off will stop.

Crazyglues2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

First, why are we comparing PS4-Neo or PS4k to Scorpio - Scorpio is the nex gen console, Not the upgrade... Xbox one S is the upgrade.

So you should be comparing PS4k vs X1 s - I know that makes to much sense, let's instead compare it to Microsoft's next console... LMAO... you guys kill me...

PS4-neo is the PS4 upgrade, Xbox one s is the Xbox one upgrade, -Scorpio is Microsoft next console- and it's seriously under powered. (more on that later) the truth is Neo is coming out soon - OCT- NOV - not 1 year from now... Scorpio is coming out NOV-DEC -2017 you might at well call it a 2018 system... that's almost 2 years away (not exactly it's it's more like 1.4 years ) but the point is we will be at a crazy level in a year and a half on PC graphic cards.. Probably Dual GTX 1080's on one card... able to run 8K no problem..

Let's at least wait to see what Sony's next consoles spec are... Because I believe it will launch around the same time as Microsoft's but be a Dual graphics card option, most likely a dual RX 480... and that will run circles around Scorpio and indeed be the next console I will be buying the second amazon let's me pre-order it...

Saithraphim2864d ago

I agree with that, I love it too. What people don't realize is that this competition pushes each company to develop better and better games. Just reading up on the latest news coming out of each camp gets me excited

super_bruno2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

I guess it matters to many, like it mattered too many with the current consoles. I mean, there is no reason to play inferiors multiplatform games (frame rates, resolution and other graphical effects) on PS4/PS4 Neo when you can play superior versions on PC and Scorpio. I guess PS4 Neo/PS4 will be for exclusives only for many, unless there is a bunch of hypocrite people with double standard in here, which I think there aren't ;)

There are no specs to compare! Scorpio has a number and nothing else and we know nothing about neo. How can you analyse that!?

darthv722864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

While not official... it can be deduced from the leaked specs that Neo would be slightly below that of the scorpio. It's pretty safe to make that assessment.

edit: I take it from your response you did not read the piece. Both companies are sticking with AMD because they are wanting to maintain compatibility with existing software. And from that safe bet... we can figure out which parts both companies would likely be using. Rumors or not... it isn't that hard to follow along.

ninsigma2864d ago

Still all rumour though. I do believe NEO will be the weaker of the two but again, scorpio only has a number (6TF) we don't know anything else about it (ok 8 core CPU) but that's it. 6TF means nothing when we don't know what the card is. 8 cores means nothing if we don't know what the cpu is. likewise the rumoured 4.5TF means nothing without know what the card is and literally that's all we know for neo. So for both I see a whole load of nothing and still gamingbolt can "analyse" this??

uth112864d ago

And because AMD can deliver integrated CPU/GPU SoCs while Intel/Nvidia can't. reduces complexity, cost, cooling etc, all important considerations for consumer-grade consoles.

KwietStorm_BLM2864d ago

We had rumors about the original PS4 specs too, and look how that turned out. That's why they're rumors.

Gazondaily2864d ago

You would think that after all the noise you made about these mid gen consoles even existing because of the nature of the rumours that, after them being proven correct, you'd be a little bit open minded.

But no. Instead you're asking silly questions like why can't we analyse these specs. We can analyse them. It doesn't mean they are set in stone. The leaks proved very reliable, MS revealed their specs and we have rumoured Neo specs to go off of. But you want to purge any analysis on the same flimsy basis as you did before?

Just leave it and let the analysis continue. It's a lot more productive than you whinging about it for apparently no reason.

ninsigma2864d ago

Except that I was saying the whole time that it's all rumor...

How is it a silly question?? Tell me how it makes sense to compare specs we don't have. Saying it's 6TF and 8 cores isn't specs. We have no actual hardware to work off and neo has no official information.

Excuse me if I'd like more quality in the articles that get submitted. Though I guess quality articles isn't something you would understand.

5TFLOPS+ on that card and tested at 4k with crisis 3 just on high is still under 30fps. On very high it struggles.

Point is, it will depend on other things, like talented dev's, decent code. Everyone can play the numbers game but until the graphics and performance are there to see, it's just guess work.

BiggerBoss2864d ago

How is analyzing a console not coming out for18 months and a console not even announced yet in any way productive?

Eonjay2864d ago

The Neo specs reveals that it has no more or less than 5.9 TFlops. This would be a sh*tshow like no other.

IamTylerDurden12864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Leave it to Septic to promote a Gamingbolt article.

The 2 consoles competing THIS holiday are the Neo and XboneS, let's compare them, Septic.

So xbox fans are excited over having a power advantage, but only in 18 months, until then power is meaningless...

Funny thing is, u might be playing AAA PS5 exclusives before u are playing AAA Scorpio exclusives. The reason, Scorpio doesn't even have dev kits yet so Scorpio game development hasn't even started. Sony has already stated that they are working on PS5 and even if Scorpio games started development today they still wouldn't be ready on time. Seeing as Scorpio is considered the next gen xbox and Neo is more akin to a mid cycle slim model, Scorpio will be in trouble when it releases with only the promise of VR and up rez'd games.

"Excuse me if I'd like more quality in the articles that get submitted. Though I guess quality articles isn't something you would understand."

Yeah your weak attack on me aside, seeing as you're so much more understanding, would you mind actually reading the article and realising that the author discusses various different aspects of the rumoured specs?

You say Scorpio has a number and nothing else but if you actually bothered reading the article instead of throwing a hissy fit in a sad attempt to damage control, you'll note that the author is discussing many aspects of the leaked specs.

We get it. The rumoured specs cause you discomfort. But you purging any discussion on the point and then, frankly acting like a prat on here doesn't do anyone any favours.

You constantly cried before about the rumoured specs. Constantly whinged about them and then they turned out to be true and your reaction was oops. Then you carry on in the same manner. Its just sad...

@ninsigma

"Also I don't read gaming bolt, so no I won't read the article."

Then GTFO of here? What's the point of you being here? You didn't read the article and then went on a hissy fit? Do you know how stupid you're making yourself look? You have added 0 value to the discussion. Well done.

ninsigma2864d ago

Please point to my damage control?? I haven't damage controlled anything in any of my comments. I have no problem saying scorpio will be more powerful and I believe it will be the more powerful console. Not once have I denied that/ said it's a bad thing or try paint it in a negative light. I actually found it interesting that it actually WAS 6TF after the rumour and I was also quick to admit I was wrong after assuming the rumor was false before they announced it.

Also I don't read gaming bolt, so no I won't read the article. There has been tonnes of articles on comparing ghost specs and it's getting stupid.

What you call a weak attack (maybe it was, I don't care) was merely an opportunity to tell someone I don't like their stuff. Don't get that opportunity very often. Also, name calling?? Really?? All I did was ask a simple, valid question and you went off on one. Looks to me like that so called "attack", got a little bit more on your nerves that you'd care to let on.

BEASELY2864d ago

The way some of you keep tabs on N4G users is downright sad.

"I remember you made this sentiment nearly 6 months ago from today."

You can retain some truly important information in your life, Septic Tank.

BossBattle2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Please stop....the Scorpio specs were leaked and the Neo specs were leaked. The Scorpio is more powerful. Don't be in denial.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

ninsigma2864d ago

No one is in denial. Read my comment. I've said multiple times I'm sure scorpio has more to it than neo. Doesn't change the fact we don't have specs.

Sonyslave32864d ago

Well it sure did matter 2013 -2016 so why stop now.

Gazondaily2864d ago

Exactly. It mattered before and it matters now.

Ultimately, power comes second to gameplay though. That will always be the case.

MasterCornholio2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Your right that games are the most important thing that sells consoles.

A true gamer will agree with me there.

A direct quote from the article

"If Microsoft is serious about the Scorpio just being a “4K Xbox One,” the Scorpio may, ironically offer a worse 1080p experience than the Neo: The Scorpio may output downsampled 4K, which would offer fantastic anti-aliasing, but at 30 FPS, while the Neo will breeze past it, with games running at a native 1080p/60".

Scorpio will most definitely Not have enough power to run anything in native 4k @60fps, maybe you guys should actually read the article. Lots a fantasies going around here.

Edit: disagree all you want , this what article is saying .

Bytor2864d ago

And the PS4 will always be more powerful than the Xbox One.

CaptainObvious8782864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

You're kidding me right, septic?

Weren't you one of the ones constantly downplaying the power difference?

But I agree games always come first.

Because Sony is "Goddess"and us blind sheep must change ever-arguments according to the situations to favor it. ;)

Brandnewfan6102864d ago

The mindset of graphics over gameplay is exactly why this generation of games have been so sh*t.

JackBNimble2864d ago

Well at least you're here Fin and not trolling Neo articles as usual ... or are you ?

Bigpappy2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Power perception wins over exclusivesome because exclusiveshe are a small part of the software on either system. I I were to buy PS4 over Xbox one, it would be because of the power difference as I don't know much about PS4 exclusiveso (never played any of them.
There are several things I like about Xbox over PS as far as the way I play and my comfort. So having the most power snd my comforts in the same package is appreciated and I really don't care who else gets to play the games on the console I choose. I did buy Xbox so I can play games others can't. Scorpio will be a Monster though. No doubt

ILostMyMind2864d ago

This is a fight that is not worth entering. But if you are right, not just deluding yourself, soon we will see fully market in favor of Microsoft. If this does not happen is because you are wrong.

Two examples: If power is what matters, then you have a PS4 and i will buy a Scorpio when it comes out. But i know i will not buy one because its games does not matter to me. And you, have a PS4 now?

But it is only a matter of time. It has the power to end all illusions.

fromchildren2864d ago

Tell that to Smartphones and 3ds, Apple and Nintendo are laughing at you.

They acting like they reveal the 100% spec of the consoles like what the hell.

Pancit_Canton2864d ago

That's gamingbolt for you.

They use this "Imaginary developer" as their source all the time. lol

I'm surprised N4G have never blacklisted them.

krypt19832864d ago

It's simple look at the scropio reveal it shows the mother board , 6tf,8cores,12gigs ram, neo leaked speaks are right the first psvr game is already announced and ships in Oct neo will ship then deal with it ...

KwietStorm_BLM2863d ago

What does the first PSVR game have to do with Neo or Scorpio specs?

Gaming_Cousin2864d ago

The power difference is real but you are better off buying a PC instead of a Scorpio for exclusives. Who's gonna want to drop money on a system that has no exclusives?

Kribwalker2864d ago

There's a tonne of console games that don't release on PC. How would you play those?

DragonDDark2864d ago

Yeah.. but all XB games are coming to consoles so I don't know what you're talking about.
Get a ps4/Wii U or NX/ PC. And you will get the best of gaming.

Kribwalker2864d ago

@dragon

I have a ps4 as well. I will prolly get an NX. I don't limit myself to one console. I buy them all (except the wiiu, just not enough there)

DragonDDark2864d ago

Then if you get a PC, you will get XB games and more. Why pick the inferior option? I'm not hating at all. Just want to ask a genuine question.

Kribwalker2864d ago

@dragon

A lot of my friends as well as my kids friends play Xbox, so I have 3. Plus I like the controller way better on Xbox then the dual shock (I have an elite) I like the online network better, with one Xbox live gold sub my whole house has their own account and gold, I like the Xbox exclusives better, my PS4 is strictly an exclusive machine for me. When the Scorpio comes out I'll be buying that as well. And I'm trading in my kids day 1 for a slim for me for when I buy a 4K tv for bluray ect and will trade in my other day 1 when the Scorpio comes out and give my kids the slim then. My older son has a gaming laptop I bought him for his birthday, and with the New share play my younger son can play on my home Xbox, my older son can play on his PC and I can play on one of the other Xboxs at the same time together for no extra cost. That's fantastic

bennissimo2864d ago

@Dragon

Because a lot of console gamers couldn't give two shits about PC gaming. Does that help?

I'm buying the Scorpio day one and will never use PC cross play. Doesn't affect my buying decision in the slightest.

Kiwi662864d ago

But what if it does have exclusives then what will the next excuse be to not get one

DragonDDark2864d ago

That's a big IF. Spencer said there won't be exclusives to XB1 anymore.

DanzoSAMA2864d ago

I'm console gamer, I hate playing on PC even if you give me a 8K\144fps PC

can't wait to pre-order my Scorpio.

DragonDDark2864d ago

Why do you hate it exactly?

Bruh2864d ago

@Dragon

For me personally none of my friends play on PC. For me gaming is a social experience and thus if I can own a more powerful console while still being able to enjoy games, i'll take it. Not to mention all of my consoles are in social areas in the house (den room, living room etc) and thus its just more convenient and much simpler.

DragonDDark2864d ago

Wow.. Sorry if I'm going to sound rude but that's such a dumb reason to hate PC gaming lol

bennissimo2864d ago

@Dragon

Some of us adults who have wives and kids and adult friends with good jobs and good taste don't want PCs and their clunky interfaces in our living rooms. PCs for the office, consoles for the living room/gaming room.

Fallout 4 is now available on next-gen consoles, but PS Plus users might be left disappointed

Probably won't happen for PS+ since Sony makes a clear distinction between a PS4 game and a PS5 game, unlike PC and Xbox where it is not a specific device game (It's now always an Xbox game).

So to make the PS5 game of fallout 4 available. Bethesda would need to renegotiate the complete deal with Sony.
hence why there's often only the PS4 version of the game available on PS+.

Let's hope Bethesda and Sony can arrive to term quickly.

I think a hard copy should be relatively cheap at this point.
