Computer games can help kids stay slim

Computer games can help kids stay slim by burning off fat - even when sitting, new research claimed yesterday. Tests showed holding a control and moving arms to navigate characters burned 40 per cent more calories than doing nothing.

Active games like bowling and running on the Wii Fit and PlayStation 3 machines have already been shown to help people burn almost as many calories as playing a sport.

But researchers from the University of Hong King decided to test the impact of all games on the human body by analysing the metabolisms of a group of volunteers.

ur forgeting some gamers smoke weed and when the weed makes them hungry they get the munchies and start to eat while playing games, now u eating and playing games at the same time with no work out just leads to getting fatter...(-_-).... and apart from that games dont make u go slim,i want to see before and after pics of the test they took.

Anyone can make claims left and right, but to try and defend video games as a healthy sport to staying fit is just kidding themselves.

I admit that sometimes I think I can lose weight by playing video games because I play the ones that challenge me mentally (Competitive Games) and physically (Motion-based Games), however the only thing you can count on is that in order to maintain a healthy weight requires some good cardio. Video games do not provide good cardio. The only thing they do is keep your mind fresh. Granted that the brain is the number #1 Organ that burns calories like that, but c'mon! We're grasping at some huge straws. Just look at Gabe Newell. Guy practically plays video games for a living and he doesn't show signs of losing weight anytime soon. Under this premise, we can also say reading and watching TV could potentially be a weight-loss plan as well, which we don't.

Only way to lose weight is to put down the controller and go outside and exercise (do chores). Your heart beating faster means, the bloods flowing faster, your lungs are working harder, more energy is required, and your metabolism kicks in to supplement the muscles.

Playing video games is fine as long as you watch what you eat and get at least one hour of exercise every day. (at the beach or a stroll out side)

I have to, I mean really, it's 2008 and I still have to get up to toss a poo puppet. And these bowls don't pack themselves.
