My Xbox 360 Has Become Abusive

Ripten writes:

"These stories are getting a bit stale, aren't they? Not stale enough, apparently, or maybe it's just not important for Microsoft to fix their shit. You see, my latest Xbox 360 is dead. I purchased a new Arcade version in January after my then current 360 was assassinated. I've been using it since then until it started freezing, at which time I moved it to the other television and used it solely for movie-watching. Less than eight months later, it does nothing but blink red and laugh at me.

My relationship with the 360 has become abusive. I try to remember only the good times we had and pretend that the times he hit me are long gone. The 360 keeps telling me that he's changed, and I believe it because I love the 360. Then, for no reason, the 360 gets mad and throws me down a flight of stairs, I call the police, and the 360 goes into rehab for 2 weeks.

Then he shows up at my door, gift-wrapped, and we go back to doing all of the fun things that made me love him in the first place. Every time we get together, though, I'm always fearful that he will slip into his abusive ways. Sometimes the 360 will freeze during a game, and I reset it hoping that I will see green lights and not red ones. Sometimes I turn it on and see no lights for a few seconds, and I get scared. I never know when the 360 is going to hurt me again."

The story is too old to be commented.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

JoySticksFTW3312d ago

Just watching the arguments, articles, conspiracy theories of money-hat pay-outs and back-door deals (how the heck did ps3 Rachet and Clank get a 7.5 rating for too much variety?)...

I think this era's console war, may even top the legendary Nintendo vs Sega war or when Sony joined in and turned it into a 3-way dance with Crash calling out Mario in front of Nintendo's offices.

"Hey, Plumber-boy!"

Classic...

shazam3312d ago

what do you think will happen in November when the first wave of expired 3 year warranties starts? all hell will break lose.

IdleLeeSiuLung3312d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

One guy get's a problem with his recent 360 and he cries about it. Perhaps, I should go around spread news that my 360 is still running since I bought last November and I have been heavily playing it.

It is kind of like that one guy on TV that complained about his 360 was defective and he had to replace it multiple time. Then they show where he stored the darn thing and it was like this tiny enclosure. Heck I don't store my DVD player in such an enclosed space....

Palodios3312d ago

Considering how long its been since we've heard anything about RROD, its nice to hear a fresh approach to the miserable situation.

bpac1234567893312d ago

It's all right i feel for you.

Lol if that story doesnt get microsofts attention than nothing will (and it probably wont).

waltercross3312d ago

Four words explained in 4 Letters: LMAO.

"it does nothing but blink red and laugh at me. "

Mine too but I can handle the red blinking light, makes for a good Christmas tree ornament, but when the system laughs at you...its just too hard to deal with ah boo hoo hoo :'(

That's my new favorite image of all time. Is that a real painting?

cereal_killa3312d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

I'm on week 2 and still waiting for them to send me a replacement I don't have the money to get a PS3 right now so I'm entertaining myself with some old school PS2 games. Personally if they didn't replace my 360 for free I would never buy any thing from them again.

Twizlex3313d ago

I wonder how different the consoles wars would be if Microsoft didn't have this RROD problem.

shadow-sentinel3313d ago

How the console war would be if Microsoft never entered... xD

Twizlex3313d ago

Well, your PS3 controller wouldn't have triggers, a guide button, or a chatpad, and you most likely wouldn't have a built-in hard drive or an online marketplace. Not to mention all of the things you still don't have but eventually will because Microsoft does and Sony has to compete.

tetsuhana3313d ago

It doesn't have triggers...and just because 360 came out first doesn't mean sony is "copying" everything little thing it has. And according to the sales all this year, apparently consumers think that microsoft is the one that has to "compete."

"I wonder how different the consoles wars would be if Microsoft didn't have this RROD problem."

--in my opinion if it weren't for the RRoD problem the PS3 would had been dead by now...

"How the console war would be if Microsoft never entered"

--probably better because Sony would had copy nintendo instead that has better ideas than MS. and MS it's not all originality because the triggers and online were done first by the DREAMCAST and the part about the hard-drive was done first by the PS2.

So sad so flop, flop games on flop console

shadow-sentinel3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

Triggers? Dualshock1 ring a bell?
A guide button? You mean the home button which they stole from the PSP?

Yeah, Microsoft has a lot of competition going on... (sarcasm)

xD xD

AngryTypingGuy3312d ago

Well said Twizlex. As much as people don't want to admit it, Sony does rip things off just like the others. They probably would indeed still not have triggers on their crappy non-ergonomically correct controller to this day. Not to mention, they wouldn't have built PSN at the pace they did if MS didn't usher us into the future of gaming with Live.

InMyOpinion3312d ago

"info about the HDD of the ps2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... -"PlayStation 2 Hard Disk Drive was released on July 19, 2001"

The PS2 hdd was an attachment that was needed to play online games. It didn't take advantage of it like the Xbox built-in hdd did.

shadow-sentinel3312d ago

Whats so good about it?

Don't know about you but I'm finding it pretty darn good that you're wasting your money.

Oh and networks? Networks are nothing new my friend, they've been with us for a long long time. Hell you're using one right now... xD xD ;)

AngryXbot3312d ago

Mistake 1 right there.

Who in his right mind would purchase a fking 360.

Its inferior technology by every comparison, its outdated by every comparison, and its future line up or future fate is looking extremely bleak and dire.

There is a reason why the PS3 cost 399. Its a superior alternative.

Bathyj3312d ago

If we're going to crap on about who copied whom first, then M$ would never of even made a console to start with if Sony hadn't done the unthinkable at the time. Shown that a new player could step in and wipe the floor with Nintendo and Sega who had dominated for decades, not the mention been the main cause of the growth of the industry that help make games bigger than Hollywood, causing M$ to become interested and notice there was a pie they didn't have their finger in yet.

tetsuhana3312d ago

"The PS2 hdd was an attachment that was needed to play online games. It didn't take advantage of it like the Xbox built-in hdd did."

Or like the 360 hdd doesn't.

waltercross3312d ago

every company will copy something from somewhere.
the only thing that Sony copied from MS was the
built in Hard drive, but I did notice sony taking
it one step further, any 2.5 hard drive can be placed
in a PS3.

da7dal3312d ago

I would have definitely purchased a 360 in addition to my ps3 if it wasn't for the RROD

This will not end well....

*grabs popcorn*

Twizlex3313d ago

Yes, the fanboys make me laugh. Oops, am I allowed to use that word in that context, or is it not allowed at all? Either way, I foresee some entertaining arguments in the near future.

Nostradavis3313d ago

To be honest, 4 replacements in that amount of time is ridiculous. I own both consoles and while I enjoyed my 360 I never play it anymore for fear of the disk unreadable message. Nothing is worse than playing Madden or NCAA, completing a draft you are happy with and then having your game freeze.

Elimin83312d ago

Thats why I joined N4G, the articles and most importantly the comments...no other sight can entertain this much......

whatis3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

Microsoft should just suck it up and ask Sony to help them out with their next 360 redesign.

They are clearly having trouble and I'm sure Sony wouldn't mind if Microsoft asked them nicely.

If the console companys started acting friendlier towards each other then maybe their fans would too.

Twizlex3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

The PSOne had problems, the PS2 had problems, and now the PS3 doesn't really have any problems.

The original Xbox didn't have any problems, but now for some reason the 360 does.

I don't think Microsoft needs Sony's help, but it is odd how they've switched places this generation.

I do wish we could all get along though ( . ^ . )

strotee3313d ago

This isn't the local pie-baking competition, this is a multi-billion dollar business. Companies don't act "friendly" to each other to make the world better, they would only talk to other companies for $ or if their image is at stake.

littletad3313d ago

And they were so well protected or obscured by the media, we may never know how bad it really was. So "asking" them "nicely" for guidance on hardware reliability isn't the best idea. Maybe Nintendo, they've been doing quite the job since SNES.

mfwahwah3312d ago

Do you know what you're saying? Is the RRoD on the news? No. This kind of stuff spreads through the internet, and the internet certainly doesn't protect or obscure **** like this. The PS1 and PS2 problems were never up to 33%, and they were all fixed relatively quickly, not just replaced ad infinitum.

littletad3312d ago

Yes, because they were sued. And this was at a time when the Internet was just reaching it's stride. Get a clue. ;)

waltercross3312d ago

The fact they were sued tells me we'll never
know if Sony would have fixed it on there own.

Fact is that sony did fix it, not just extend the warranty.
See It's simple.

Step one: Admit there is a huge issue publicly and explain
in details what it is(Explain that the 360 has a fire hazzard
to, you can DIE).

Step two: Fix the Issue and make many new "FIXED" 360's.

Step three: Inform the public that the new 360 is out and
all other bad 360's were pulled, tell the public to return
there bad 360 in for the new 360(for free).

See, with these three steps I would also have a 360
by now, since I am a gamer not a hater, Last gen I had
all consoles, it was the RROD that kept me away from
the 360, people spin it like MS is doing everyone a
favor by extending the warranty, 1 Billion worth, you know
that's Junk change for MS right?

The three steps I said might be worth more but it shows your
loyal fans that you made a grave mistake and we are thinking of you.

I Cannot figure out why people will defend MS when all they did was
save themselves a lawsuit plus several billion, in return there
fans get muffled, muffled meaning MS is somewhat protected by lawsuits
unless of course somebody burns up.

Why wasn't MS sued is the big question, and why do people defend
there 3 year warranty like It's a God.

Yes Sony did get sued and they should have, but so should MS even
now, since they never fixed the Issued.

I Try so hard not to hate MS, I Never bashed them but god
dangit the truth is the truth and some people refuse to
believe the truth.

The 360 has awesome and plenty of games, but there is no game
that I know of that will prevent the RROD, only MS can do that.
