takes me back, the best fighting game ever to me.

It's Balrog, not Vega. Curse you wrong translation, confusion and pending lawsuits. You have confused a whole generation.

because M.Bison's name is Balrog in the Japanese versions and Balrogs name is M.Bison.

The story goes that this original setup of character names was going to stick in the U.S. version's of Street Fighter, but that since M.Bison (or as we know him as Balrog) was a black boxer and showed some resemblence to Mike Tyson (especially back in the early 90's) Capcom felt that the name M.Bison was too similiar to Mike Tyson, so they swapped out the boxer's name to Balrog and the main badguy's name to M.Bison.

Get it? Got it? GOOD!!!

It is not wrong translation. Vega was orignally Balrog, and Bison is Vega. The US Balrog is Mike Tyson, but to evade a lawsuit, they changed him to Balrog, and made Vega, M. Bison. Then Balrog became Vega. or something like that :P

and that would be that the Japanese LOVE to over-complicate things!

Balrog was the boxer type guy - i think!

The boxer is Mr. Bison (In Japan) I think

Yes, (Japan)M. Bison = Mike Tyson = (U.S.) Balrog.

Edit: but now that I saw the video, I think I see what harry meant. Why on earth would it say Balrog wins at the end of the match?

Harry1903678d ago (Edited 3678d ago )

Mr Bison should be the boxer = Myke Tyson. They could not do it because of fear of getting sued by Myke Tyson.

Balrog is the narcissistic tall blonde guy with a mask.

Vega is the baddie who gets hit by Akuma's ultimate move in previous FF. The guy with a general hat. Also my favourite character. The translation i all messed up in NA and Europe.

I go by their original names.

I'll stick with the western translation and be content with at least knowing the truth. Why on earth would a Spanish character be named Balrog? What was the nationality of the original Vega?

EDIT: nevermind, thanks wiki
