Early copies were available since Monday.

DLConspiracy2904d ago

Actually reviewers were mad about not getting early copies. Bethesda told them they had to wait until launch day.

As someone who is reviewing the game as well. No one got a copy until today.

Clown_Syndr0me2904d ago

@H2OAcidic I got a copy on Tuesday from someone on Gumtree, so they were definately out there.

DefenderOfDoom22903d ago

I talked to the Gamestop GM today . He told me Bethesda held back on review copies because of the negativism towards the DOOM multiplayer beta . He also told me he had a bunch of people cancel their pre-order after playing DOOM multiplayer beta. They are missing out on a very fun to play campaign and a awesome 2 sided DOOM poster.

amazinglover2903d ago

Early copies were only given to certain people to play but it seems more for lets play style videos rather then actual reviews. Having played a little over half of it myself it seems very mediocre it mainly consist of go to a room kill everyone by running around move to next screen. This game feels like all beauty and no brains it feels good looks good but is very shallow only had 2 weapons i liked the shotgun and BFG. I really wish Machingames gets a crack at the next Doom.

The story is weak but the gameplay is cool. killing Demons is satisfying

game4funz2904d ago

By story being garbage are you actually reading the memos.... Or just generalizing... Need clarification

kaizokuspy2904d ago

Tired of memos and collectibles being a cop out of telling a story. I dislike it in shooters. I know it can be a good addition, but damn it, give me a good narrative. Wolfenstein had a decent one. Haven't played doom yet, but will be renting it for the weekend

FPS_D3TH2904d ago

Implying doom ever really had good story to begin with.

ShadowKnight2903d ago (Edited 2903d ago )

Its not that many memos in the game. It feels more like Quake than doom. In the beginning the first time he wakes up you start killing lol without any real explanation. It's definitely influence by the first Doom game and its a lot of fun. What's funny is that Doom is my favorite FPS of all time I wish they would have put more effort with the story like Wolfenstein. If you like the first Doom you should like the new game.

Seems good so far. Only played half an hour but it's running 1080p, ultra settings at a stable 60fps using gtx 970, i7 6700 etc.

Maxor2904d ago (Edited 2904d ago )

Playing this game on my TV @ 1080p 60 FPS in ultra with a gamepad is joy. It's just soooo buttery smooth. The only problem is that I get my ass kicked in multiplayer because I'm no match for keyboard and mouse players.

conanlifts2904d ago (Edited 2904d ago )

I havnt tried it with my gamepad as my tv was in use. It confuses the hell out of me though when i jump from tv to pc and swap gamepad to mouse for the sabre game. I do prefer gaming on the tv though.

Bobafret2904d ago

I used a gamepad on PC and did quite well for myself, my K/D was typically 3:1.

jmc88882904d ago (Edited 2904d ago )

Nah, you can do it.

What you have to do is put the controller preset to strafe mode (in the options), so your left bumper is your jump/double jump button.

Also you can turn up the horizontal sensitivity. (I haven't yet but I know it's there).

But yeah, I was getting 1st and 2nd place all last night and have a 1.3 K/D ratio right now. Not bad for a controller on PC. So yeah, it can be done. (that's playing all warpath and constantly going for the point or defending it... not laying back sniping)

I was also kicking butt on the betas as well. So nothing changed.

Kyosuke_Sanada2904d ago

It's great that you can shut off the new additions for OG players (which I will do on my playthrough). Sounds like the campaign will deliver as expected.

Yesssss! Time to smash some demons!
