I, Hope is a game about a girl who takes on a dangerous creature, Cancer, to save her village. Developed by Arconyx, 100% of proceeds will go to charity.
ThisGenGaming says: "I, Hope is a rather short experience and could use a bit more graphical polish, but the message it sends is nothing short of amazing. It’s a condensed, Zelda-like adventure with a moral that lasts way longer than its actual gameplay. The final score only reflects the technical achievements of the game, but in spirit it’s a 10 out of 10!"
Where to start, I, Hope gave me images of That Dragon, Cancer and Eternal Sonata in the way that it was dealing with it’s subject matter of cancer and the things that you need to fight this shitty disease.
James writes: "It’s not often you find a game that’s been created without the objective of making a profit, with the development focus instead looking at building money for a charity. But that’s exactly how I, Hope was made to be, with developer Kenny Roy teaming up alongside the GameChanger Charity to ensure all proceeds are donated to said charity, which supports children and children fighting cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. If you want to support such an amazing cause, then you should absolutely do so, regardless of how good or bad I, Hope is. Still, given that I, Hope is also meant to be an uplifting experience for those children who are suffering and battling illness, it’s worth finding out whether it succeeds in its overall mission."
Seems cool. Would be better if they showed more of the game though.
I just bought a copy. Apparently the guy's an animator, so hopefully it works out? I mean, I dunno how these Kickstarters usually go. I'd like to see that chick defeat cancer though.
