Hello Games talks whether or not No Man's Sky will release at once on PS4 and PC

Hello Games is the studio working on the upcoming game, and they are inching closer and closer to their June 21 launch date, which as of now is scheduled to be for both PS4 and PC.

Both Occulus and HTC Vive would be in consumer hands by the time No Man's Sky releases on PC. So the question someone should ask Sean Murray is - "Will No Man's Sky release for either Occulus or HTC Vive?"

My prediction is that Sony has bought the exclusive rights for No Man's Sky on VR, but Hello Games have reserved the rights for No Man's Sky on PC. The real news that we are all waiting to hear is 'WHEN does No Man's Sky release for VR?

Everytime Sean Murray has been asked about VR, he never denied the possibility. Instead he makes statements like, "I don't know what I can say about that." That leads me to believe that Sony have purchased the rights to No Man's Sky on VR and the scheduling of the release is down to Sony, and not Hello Games.

SteamPowered2955d ago

The fact that they keep downplaying the VR aspect really bothers me. Either they should double-down and tout the VR experience, or just let it drop once and for all. VR HMDs are launching in weeks and No Man's Sky could be at the forefront of VR games.

Muadiib2954d ago

First of all Hello Gasmes have struggled to get the game working on PS4 so don't expect it to run well on the PSVR without a massive downgrade. Secondly moving in first person in VR is really uncomfortable, I doubt this game would be enjoyable at all in VR outside of a cockpit.

I expect downvotes, but deep down you know I'm right.

SteamPowered2954d ago

@Muadiib

Im actually a PC gamer so the PSVR isnt applicable to myself.
Ive played everything from Half Life to Skyrim in VR first person and Ive never had a problem. Ive been disoriented when my character gets knocked back or down. But locomotion has been very smooth.

I think more people need to actually try VR before imagining how it would feel to "move" around without moving. Im not sure if youve tried VR but Ive put enough hours in to be a believer.

VR is ready. And it is Awesome.

freshslicepizza2954d ago

i hope i am wrong but i too think we will see psvr exclusive deal, which i think is not good for the consumer. why have exclusive deals on a technology you want to flourish?

WeAreLegion2955d ago

Doesn't matter. It will be Oculus and Vive playable within a week of release. Just like GTA V, World of Warcraft, and hundreds of other games are playable in VR right now without official support.

wakeNbake2954d ago

You can just use the VorpX mod like most other games. GTA5 is awesome on the DK2.

Aenea2954d ago

Wow, I just checked VorpX out and this right here is the first real positive for VR on PCs! So far it was the displays and the resolution which I wasn't sure that it was really better than PSVR, but this is the good stuff.

I wish I had the money to get a new PC AND a PC VR headset this year, sigh...

PSVR will have to do for now tho...

Aenea2954d ago

I think both Hello Games and Sony would love to release this with PSVR support but I think they aren't quite sure yet if they can actually make it happen.

When you look at the most recent videos you can see lots of screen tearing and it probably was the PC version that was shown, so I imagine it to be slightly worse on PS4. So they want to, but can't commit to anything yet since they aren't sure it's possible.

I wouldn't be surprised that it's releasing much later than we all expected partly due to this, Sony might even be helping them a lot to optimise the game further before release.

But seriously, I really, really hope they can hit 60fps on the PS4 so it will run great on PSVR as well, I need this game in VR! :)

Exited for this. Very unique. Debating ps4 or pc version.

I hope it releases for Playstation VR as well

The game that keeps on giving 🦾🥳✌️

Christopher28d ago

The support they've given this game only makes me more interested in their next game.

Agree, curious what they are cooking up for that one?!

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos38d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts38d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook737d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka37d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka38d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz38d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos37d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1738d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca38d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.
