Mass Effect 3 is Perfection

Managing Editor Morgan Lewis from Gamer Professionals Writes:

"With Mass Effect: Andromeda releasing this holiday season (hopefully), a new era of Mass Effect is being ushered in upon us. The question is, will it live up to Commander Shepard’s epic tale in his battle against the Reapers? Mass Effect 3 was the perfect conclusion to the series, hitting a series of emotional highs and lows, immersing you in a world full of memorable characters with an incredible journey. Mass Effect 3 is the pinnacle of choice-based gaming, and while some may argue the choices you make don’t completely carry over, there are some significant consequences that follow through all three games which cause the third installment to be extremely emotional."

The ending is a joke, the Extended ending doesn't help anything. So many plot holes. What is the point of Sovereign!

AndrewLB801d ago

While I agree that the ending was an absolute disaster, you must have not played the game if you didn't know the point of sovereign. Every cycle when the reapers returned to dark space outside the galaxy, they leave behind one of them in order judge when a society is advanced enough to harvest. When that time comes, that single reaper would send a signal to the keepers on the Citadel who in turn would activate the Citadel which was a giant mass-relay. This didn't happen in ME1 because the Protheons managed to alter the keepers from receiving the signal, which is why Sovereign had to enlist the Geth to take the citadel by force and manually activate the relay to dark space. Shepard stopped that plot by destroying Sovereign at the end of the first game.

@Andrew -
" they leave behind one of them in order judge when a society is advanced enough to harvest. When that time comes, that single reaper would send a signal to the keepers on the Citadel who in turn would activate the Citadel which was a giant mass-relay. "
The Reapers were in control of the Citadel, remember the Starchild? With the startchild around, there is literally no point of Sovereign being around as well. Who could better Judge a society's advancement - StarChild as he was in control of the citadel. Who could open the citadel to the reapers = Starchild.

LMFAO NO, I liked it but not with an ending like that..

MGS 3 is perfection from the moment you enter the disc until you eject it

Up until the last 10-15min, yeah i'd say it was pretty amazing. Probably even better than ME2, then the ending happened...and it was all dissapointment at such a horrible conclusion. They clearly didnt know how to finish the story after the rewrite.

Still, probably one of my favorite franchises and the 3rd game is 95% great haha

FullmetalRoyale801d ago (Edited 801d ago )

My issue was that I didn't really like any of the new characters, at all. Well the gay guy below decxk was a pretty interesting character actually. Anyway, anytime in started thinking about quitting I'd get to see Miranda, or Mordin. Definitely wasn't a bad game overall.

Mr-Dude801d ago (Edited 801d ago )

I still would like a remaster with full DLC of this trilogy... Together with Bioshock trilogy.

Christopher801d ago

I still feel that Mass Effect was the best game out of the trilogy. And that wasn't a perfect game.

Its the perfect example of whats wrong with paid dlc you mean.

I feel like the game is not only the perfect conclusion but the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had, and that is saying something. I wept for days after I beat it. And yeah I'm a grown man.

I bet hes like 15 going through his rebel phase.

Sly-Lupin801d ago

That's less a testament to the quality of Mass Effect 3 than it is a testament to your (severe) lack of experience and/or taste.

nottfadeaway802d ago

Best ending in gaming. Puts others to shame.

Hold_It802d ago

It was the best ending of all time just like MGS V :TPP. Oh wait.

rutgersfan28802d ago

The game is just...epic. When Mordin dies I cried like a baby :( Thane was a total badass. It tied everything up so well and while I was sad about EDI (I chose Destroy), it was such an amazing experience.

AndrewLB801d ago

Thane's death was the one that made me shed a tear. Re-watch the scene and listen to the words carefully.

DirtyPete802d ago

They don't make them like they used to. When Mass Effect 3 came out it feels like the industry in general was in a better place. Quality games like this made me a gamer. I wish from the deepest pit of my soul to experience a game like this again sometime this year but I really don't invasion that happening with what has been announced and revealed for 2016 :P

I worry that Mass Effect: Andromeda just won't be able to match up to Shepard's story. I hope it's good but I don't think we'll see a series as ambitious as ME was (it was why I bought a 360 in the first place).
