"SEGA's CEO Simon Jerffery feels your pain, Wii owners. In an interview today, Jeffery flatly stated that "there is a lot of crap coming out for the Wii in general."
Sega mocking others for releasing crap games.... never! Before Sega looks into other's backyards maybe they should think about looking at their own.
But he is being honest;the Wii is seriously lacking in the games department, something which I'm surprised gaming sites aren't discussing. Hell,I can't think of any other upcoming title aside from Tales of Symphonia and Mad World that interest me.
Upcoming games that I am anticipating are very few. Madworld, Deadly Creatures (it's a big if), Oboro Muramasa Youtoden, and maybe Tenchu IV and Tales of Symphonia 2. de Blob, Fatal Frame IV, and the Conduit have me very unimpressed. I am not at all interested in Animal Crossing, Dead Rising (have it on 360) or Wii Music. Hopefully Animales and Little King's Story can deliver. And if we ever see Crystal Chronicles... I've got No More Heroes, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros, RE4, Okami, and Warioware. I don't dig Mario Kart and I've played Trauma Center on DS. What other Wii titles are worth owning that I can't play the better versions of on PS3 or 360? Also: It's perfectly valid for SEGA or anyone else to say that a lot of crappy games are coming out for the Wii. I'm pretty sure the same guy would admit that SEGA has released some of those crappy games. Take it for what its worth. At least the media is getting a fire lit under NoA's ass to get some quality on the shelves for the gamers who actually give a rat's ass.
Nintendo Ruined the market... I am going to get a lot of disagrees here, but its a fact :/
I didn't know that SSBB, Metroid Prime 3, Legend of Zelda: TP, and Mario Galaxy actually ruined the market.. Thank you, now I can see the light. I have a 360 and a Wii.. and I'm not going to be a fanboy by saying I play the wii more, cause I don't. They both get a similiar ammount of game time. The wii is good if you want something different and hey.. news flash some people DO want something different. I know you can't believe it right?
wii fit, wii play, wii sports and the other casual toys ?
wii got loads of peopel into GAMING
okay so that something different is games that get 1's and games that are made in 3 months for the wii, no matter what u say hes right there's a Lot of Crap Coming Out For the Wii but sega cant really talk cuz they come out with alot of crap too
I'm not saying they don't have a lot of crap, I'm just disagreeing with ruining the market. And Wii Sports and Wii Fit may be casual games but they are still fun, and last time I remembered games were supposed to be fun.
Take out all the games made by Nintendo, and what do we have... I don't mind them old IP's, but they should gives us new ones also, like Sony and MS.
I can't WAIT to see how you explain this idiotic statement...
I hate it when companies call out each other. Just let your stuff do the talking. Leave the fighting to us.
PS2 was king last gen, and there was lots of crap on THAT system.
every system has crap. wii has the most but percentage wise ps2 had the best games f a g o t
just like how u have alot of crap overloading ur mouth
@ferdus It has the most? How you know? Only because bashers focus on the bad games when it comes to wii they ignore the sh/tty games on the PS2. Ps2 along side the PS1 have sh/t loads too, you guys just ignore it.
Your games aren't exactly cream of the crop darling.
It's not so much the crap games coming out that are the problem with the Wii. Its the lack of just about anything solid coming out to make up for it. Crap is no fun when it's the only option.
Agreed. Every successful system is going to have a ton of bad games - look at the PS2, there are probably a few thousand awful games that most people have never even heard of - but the PS2 also had tons of great games. The number of of Wii games that I'm even interested in playing is like, maybe 5. And there isn't a single announced game for it that I would want to get.
If you payed attention you can clearly see that developers are getting more interested in making better games. And a good game takes longer than 1 year to develope so ofcourse it takes time. ( i dont disagree with the wii having loads of crap, but saying Wii has only crap games is far from the truth)
I didn't say it only has crap games. I said it only has crap games coming out for it. (With the possibility of a few wildcards which we know little about the quality of) And the good games take awhile thing doesn't sell on the Wii. Why? Because there were great games for PS3 and 360 at the same point in their life cycles, and there are many great ones on the horizon. Not so with the Wii. Plus it shouldn't be NEARLY as hard developing for hardware that is so underwhelming in power compared to the competition.
Well if you want to play the " It's not out, we dont know if its good" card how can you compare it to any games coming out for 360 or PS3? We do not know if they are any good yet either since they are not out yet. If you asked me what games I would be getting it is SWFU,De Blob, COD:[email protected], Deadly Creatures, TNA Impact, Smack down vs Raw(get it every 2 years. I know I'm in the minority on that one but for me that are good games.),Wario Land,Sim City Creator, Tiger Woods(like wrestling every 2 years and its time to pick one up.though with Motion plus I guess next year will probably be the best one), GH4, Face breaker, ToS: dawn of the new world, Shaun White Snow boarding,Mushroom Men, NFS,Little Kings Story.
Oh COME ON man I don't think its too far of a stretch to say that LittlebigPlanet, Prince of Persia, Fallout 3, and Resistance 2 will be good/great games. You can see most good games when they are coming. The point is since the Wii is so "revolutionary" *cough cough* it is much harder to know if the games will be good or not until they are here. I mean what has a better chance of being an AMAZING game, Fallout 3, or de Blob? Resistance 2, or The Conduit? Its common sense buddy.
Your "common sense" is more bias than anything else from the sound of it. Any game has a chance of being amazing, which is a matter of opinion also so not everyone is going to feel the same way about every game. Classics like Lair,Have and Dark Kingdom really show how revolutionary the PS3 is too, and the 360 has its fair share of bad games as well.Oh and that was just the Wii list of games. It isnt like I wont get to play Fallout3, but that there are actual games on Wii I am also interested in.
If you go back and read a few previews of Haze and Lair, there are all kinds of concerns mentioned, and I don't see that happening in Resistance 2 and LBP previews. I am a little biased, as everyone is (whether the admit it or not), but I have nothing against the Wii, I am just disappointed with what Nintendo is doing with it.
If you're a droid on my ignore list feel free to PM me, I'll gladly delete the unread message!
u think ur going to feel special now cuz u can do that
Crap games for a crap system.
My Wii system isn't crap. I enjoy games like Trauma Center, & Mario Kart Wii. Gotta give credit where credit is due man; The Wii is pretty good for picking up girls.
There's alot of crap games because there was a knee jerk reaction by alot of publishers to get something out there since the Wii was such a big hit. They scrambled to throw together party/mini games and to port over games that did well on other platforms but not so good portwise, plus they wanted to get something in front of the casual gamers that they might bite on. I think this trend will slow down as the Wii is more established and publishers are finding that not all crap sticks to the wall, so hopefully the better games in longer development will start to come out: Conduit, Madworld, Dangerous Creatures, Barbi's Horse Fantasy (my personal favorite)
Conduit doesn't excite me in the least. I don't know why everyone is so hyped for an FPS. I guess because there's finally something other than Metroid Prime coming out on Wii? No one has really put in the money/time to make it work on the Wii and I'm still not convinced this random developer is going to do so.
tell me something i dont know =/
Think about it. Nintendo practically drove Sega out of the console business. Maybe this snide remark is a little payback.
That was Sony, Not Nintendo.
Riki is a bit faster =P. It was actually the Attention that the Ps2 got back then that destroyed Sega as a console making company. To bad i actually liked the dreamcast.
oh yeah, my bad. I was thinking "genesis" days. I totally forgot about the Dreamcast. =P
Deffinetly alot of crap coming out for the wii. I look on ign.com and check out the release dates for the ps3. I see 15 games that are coming out that i want before the end of the year. I look at wiis release dates and there isnt one remotely interesting game. That has NEVER happened before. Wii is crap, can't wait for madworld.
Really? I'm really looking forward to Little King's Story, Tales of Symphonia and de Blob. And I bet a lot of the stuff on the PS3 is multiplat.
I'm looking forward to Madworld, Deadly Creatures, and Oboro Muramasa Youtoden, and maybe Tenchu IV. de Blob, Fatal Frame IV, and the Conduit have me very unimpressed. I am not at all interested in Animal Crossing, Dead Rising (have it on 360) or Wii Music. That's a pretty terrible outlook. Hopefully Animales and Little King's Story can deliver. And if we ever see Crystal Chronicles... Currently I've got No More Heroes, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros, RE4, Okami, and Warioware. I don't really dig Mario Kart and I've played Trauma Center on DS. Can anyone suggest something I can go out and enjoy?
Look for The Godfather or Scarface, the controls are slick in those games imo. It's going to be hard for you as a gamer on the wii if you refuse to play some casual games, I'm not talking your carnival games or wii sports, but like order up, blast works, or geometry wars. If you can't keep your mind open about trying certain types of titles or just don't like them, you're probably better off with a 360 or ps3.
Boom Blox might not look that great but it is a really fun game. Blast works just got a price cut and might be worth checking out.Umbrella Chronicles might also be fun for you. Zack and Wiki is also a very good game but like Bloom Blox the art direction is not something that most older gamers are going to want in a game.
Honestly, although I'm looking forward to all of the titles you listed, I can understand where you're coming from. The Conduit looks like it may fill a noticeable hole in the Wii's library, but if you have multiple systems or a high end PC I can see why it would seem like just one of many polished FPSes available. Also, High Voltage is still unproven as a developer, so we can't yet be totally secure about the game's quality, even though the trailers and previews have been promising. Fatal Frame IV is another entry in an established franchise, and, as such, isn't breaking any amazing new ground. There's also those bugs that were apparently present in the Japanese version at launch. I still plan to buy it if the reviews are solid and the bugs are fixed, but, once again, I can see why it wouldn't be hugely exciting. But why disregard de Blob? The concept is innovative. It looks like it's going to make smart use of the Wii's control scheme. Gameplay should be open enough to allow for lots of replay. The graphics aren't technically amazing, but they're stylish and artistic. And, what's more, I've yet to read a preview that did anything but heap love on it. Honestly, it may very well be my most anticipated game of what remains of 2008. As far as the comments in the main article are concerned, there are plenty of crappy games on the Wii. I don't think anyone would deny it. However, in the same interview Jeffery also says the system is more than a fad and he's happy that Sega is producing games for it. (Of course, he also says he's happy about dreck like the Iron Man game, so...) Personally, I think the deluge of awful games on the Wii is mostly the fault of third party developers--the ones who really do view the system as a fad--trying to cash in fast. However, it's also Nintendo's fault for not exercising quality control when it comes to what games they allow on the system. This is the same company that essentially invented video game quality control when they launched the NES to avoid repeating Atari's fate. They should know better.
And a high-end PC. Like Little Big Planet, I just don't know enough or haven't seen enough gameplay and the depth in any variety of modes or anything to see much more than random frill. I was hoping someone who was anticipating de Blob would respond. It's supposed to be quite impressive, but for some reason, even though I know almost less about Deadly Creatures, I'm more excited for that title than de Blob.
Yes, that's true. There's the chance gameplay might become repetitive, especially if it doesn't have a good difficulty curve or some mission/move variety. Those are things that can kill a puzzle-platformer and we won't know about them until the first reviews start to come out. As far as Deadly Creatures is concerned, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. The concept sounds like great fun, and the brutal vermin-on-vermin combat looks impressive, but there seem to be some complaints about iffy controls and awkward camera angles. I'd love to see the game turn out to be solid, and, if it is, I'll definitely buy it, but I have heard too many mixed opinions to be sure.
developer, until now.
So you agree that it will die out as those games are not selling and there will be more quality titles on Wii. Oh and that it has been proven now that Wii is not a fad?
games are getting boring.
