PS3 Owners Can Hear It All With The AX360

Don't let the letters and numbers confuse you, this is not news for the Xbox 360. And fear not, there's no reason to be confounded dear gamers, especially PS3 gamers. You'll soon have the opportunity to own the AX360. No, it's not a game and it's not a controller. It's Tritton's Audio Xtreme 360 Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Headset.

I have a pair of these on my 360 for late night gaming and they work great. You can use them for alot more than console too. The rumble doesn't scramble your brain but if the rumble adds a cool sensation having go off in your head and hand on the 360. The knobs are a little cumbersome at times because if you want to turn up the volume you have to turn 3 knobs and not 1 but it is cool you can adjust the center, front and back to your tastes if needed. The expandable nature of the little controller box comes in nice for players who might still place locally with 2-3 players. The volume is ok, not astoundingly rocking but mearly ok.

My one major problem with the system is getting the PROLOGIC and other options to work correctly as far as the system detecting the right kind of output for the headphones.

It is also important to note this system (I purchased it about 6 months ago) is NOT Live compatable as far as I have tried to do it. Maybe they fixed it but the headset will not work with the 360 Live system due to the way the the headphones interface with the box and not the controller.

Also it should be noted the headset is delicate I had them packed itn the bag and was carrying them out with my 360 and dropped them and the left headphone split open. A little superglue later they are fixed but treat with care.

All in all if you want it for a late night gaming headset they are great. Movies are so so through them depending on the movie not really the headset.

Thanks for posting this Maddens.

The logo on the official site is styled like the Xbox 360 logo and even has an OSM review with a huge logo. The specs also list the product to be compatible with Xbox 360, Playstation 2, PC/MAC, and DVD. No mention of a Playstation 3! Sorry about the rant but the blatant flame line in the article asked for it.

--- you've had these for six months; is there a reason why they've explained they're not XLive compat. when this guy clearly states they are? http://www.teckmagazine.com... What I'm trying to say is what the he77 is up with that? I hope this problem doesn't exist on the PS3 style. That would be a damn travesty. I bet the rumble on the controller and the head rumble is awesome. <wayofftop.> I miss rumble and I miss having the option to turn it off & on. This problem must be resolved by SNE. They need to buy back the old controllers and sell the new motion-sensing dual-axislol controllers for 40 bucks, asap -- at least by 3Q 08. Yeah gamers'll prolly lose about 10 bucks on the whole deal, but that's SNE (and a kick-ass controller):D. -- and you could still use the old one of course.<backontop.>Regar dless, I will be purchasing these headphones, just because they look kick a$$ and they're black and blue. I already have a feeling that the sound will be delicious. hmm..I think I'm going to Bbuy right now.

The site has been really messed up lately with giving error messages. Those didn't even show up for at least 30 minutes.

I just got back from Bbuy and they DO NOT carry these bad-ass ear cannons. Unfortunately, only one guy in the whole store knew what I was talking about and he really didn't know much. He just kept saying, "if we don't have 'em no one does." Well, I dunno how they do it here in Missouri, bit Bbuy's gotta do better than this. At least in TX they'll fake it.:D a/w I f*n ended up buying blackhawk down, lord of war, and total recall (i love that movie) and threw in t.Hawk8 for the hell of it. I figured I've been working all year, helping everyone -- I deserve it. What was cool was seeing more and more people looking in the hi-def section of discs. That means more, better, and cheaper LCD's and lower costs, bigger profits for investors. Better for gamers overall. When I was checking out two guys had just bought a PS3 a register over. I couldn't tell if it was 60 or 20, but it was good to see (1) purchase (at that exact time) in the flesh again after the a$$lashing its been taking. Brings back memories of launch....ahhh.lol

BTW - I asked the "head man" about HDMI 1.3 and when we'd see it routinely in LCD's, etc..he just stared at me like he was about to have total recall.

There are more products like this, Creative also has them

Maddens Raiders3686d ago

makes some decent Dolby licensed headphones, however having that switched on all the time in order to hear the highest clarity and fidelity is not a good sign of overall quality (let's way to see the review of the AX360 by engadget, etc..), they don't come with optical cables for the xbox360 and one other thing Creative doesn't have -- rumble. You know SNE's gotta be sittin' on somehtin' with rumble. It's just a matter of freakin' time.

TheMART3686d ago

Do you want rumble on your brain?

Think it would make me getting f*cking headackes..

Microgamer, ofcourse it can't replace a real 5.1 surround set, but if you don't want to disturb the people in your living room or your neighbours, this is the next best thing I guess!

MicroGamer3686d ago

With all the speakers gathered around your ears, you won't get much of a surround effect. The whole purpose of having all those speakers in a surround system is to spread them around the room to give the illusion that the sounds are coming at you from different directions. That would be like taking your surround speakers down from where they are and stacking them neatly in front of you in one place.

Yo Wassap3686d ago

i think it uses the new 'holographic sound' to give you a fully working sound package. I'm not a great fan of this style of headphones so i'll keep to my E5Cs.

TheMART3686d ago

Anyone knows a vendor for this in The Netherlands? I am building a 360 travelling suitcase with a 17 inch Sony HDTV, 360 and this would be nice to use, 2 of those headphones.

Especially the 2nd headphone is nice, Creative don't sell them seperate
