"Censorship is a complex issue and it’s very easy to say that “Censorship is never the right thing to do.” In fact, it’s such an easy phrase that it’s been the motto over the last week following controversies over Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s localisation and Dead or Alive Xtreme 3‘s lack of a western release altogether. However, the situations involved are rarely so clear. There are cases where censorship merely seems to be the product of hypersensitivity by media ratings boards (shoutout to the Australian Classification Board) but then there’s also situations like these, where the publishers involved made the correct call, given the circumstances."
With Chronicles finished, it's time to return to the mechs and mysteries of Mira
Yes, I agree. We definitely need to retake Xenoblade Chronicles X which btw it left us on a cliffhanger suggesting there wiull be a XCX2 .... and im up for it.
I put so many hours into X, just please ad a music volume setting was going crazy walking around base and hearing
"UH UH... YEAH!.. YEAH!...YEAHYEAHYEEEEAAAAH!..U H UH!"
I can't believe they haven't done it yet, it's the Xenoblade game I'm most excited for, I would buy it in a heart beat.
It has been 10 years since Xenoblade arrived in the US, we look back at how the game almost never showed up if not for a group of dedicated fans.
I wish The Last Story would make a comeback.I played it years before I got around to Xenoblade. Mainly because of the scalping going on because of Xeno's limited run. It took me a few tries to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. A Wii hidden gem for sure.
I wish the Last Story get a Switch remaster or remake. That game deserves a second chance
Nintendo will be shutting down the eShop for the 3DS and Wii U completely in 2023. Makes sure to check out these games before they do.
If they're not important enough to be held on their own official storefront then they're not important enough to give your money to Nintendo.
Buy these, physically, used or simply emulate them.
This article comes off as nothing more than advertising games that Nintendo, themselves, don't care to offer you... buy now!
Wait hang on where all the outrage? I swear when Sony tried to do this with PS3 last year. There was outrage from all corners of the gaming universe.
Why does no one care Nintendo is doing it?
It's lame that it is shutting down. Now I feel rushed buying all the rpgs I missed out on the system.
You guys know that even archive.org has 3DS roms, and all other console roms. I'm downloading 846GB of 3DS roms and will add the best games to my soon to be soft modded New 3DS 😁. Might as well throw in DS and other emulators in there to. Guys this would be the best way to play and enjoy the 3DS. Just need to buy a bigger micro SD card and format it to FAT32, which you can if it's even 256GB or larger there are ways.
I'm not a fan of censorship unless it's an extreme case. People are way too sensitive these days.
While this was a well written article, I have to disagree with some of it. I'm a proponent of 'censorship is never right' and I don't think anything should be banned or, in this case, limited. We live in a world now where people want to not see things that are offensive to them and try to actively block anything of that nature. That is wrong and stifles creativity.
As gamers and as people, we should want to have MORE diversity, not less. These two games show that the vocal minority are winning the debate, even though many of the people complaining aren't even gamers or would have purchased these titles anyway. We can't allow censorship of this sort to continue if we want to play games that challenge us and make us see the world differently.
I'm not saying that Xtreme 3 is a revolutionary game or anything like that, but even a title like it deserves to be distributed to a wider audience and they can then decide if they want to buy it. Its release shouldn't be limited due to the outcry of a vocal few. Koei Tecmo should show some spine and stand up to these bullies (which is exactly what they are).
This was definitely common sense and the "WHOA NO SJWs WIN AGAIN" knee jerk response is annoying and quite ironic considering how those same people make SJWs out to be overly sensitive. Entertainment culture is very different in Japan vs EU/US, explicitly so when it comes to sexuality. This isn't a "vocal few" situation and to say so is ignoring many years of differences between the cultures. Be mindful of that instead of jumping so quickly to shade people with your ridiculous conspiracies.
"Not all censorship is worthy of outrage, sometimes it’s just worthy of a shrug and a “whatever.” And honestly, within the gaming climate of the past years, we need a few more “whatever” moments."
The writer of this article is a contradictory @sshole. If that's how you feel about it than take the same stance when something is not censored. You want us to agree to this nonsense only because it's censorship that makes sense to you and swings toward a view you agree with. Well to you I say eat sh!7.
Censorship to appease those who don't agree with particular artistic merits does not have a place in creative freedom. If you don't like something you don't buy it period. You don't put pressure on its creators to change it.
There is no form of censorship that is common sense. Soon censoring those disagreeing with the current political climate will be "common sense" oh wait...
