Lionsgate Q1 DVD, Blu-ray sales jump 47%

Lionsgate's fiscal first-quarter home-entertainment revenue jumped 47% on titles such as Rambo, The Eye and 3:10 to Yuma, allowing the studio to gain traction in a flattening DVD market while turning a profit.

Lionsgate's home entertainment revenue, which jumped to $152.2 million for the quarter ended June 30 from $103.8 million a year earlier, also "reflected significant and growing contributions from strong Blu-ray high-definition disc sales," the company said.

no one wants Blu-Ray......

eagle213328d ago (Edited 3328d ago )

At this point in the game, who would say anything against Blu-ray? Blu-ray is increasing FAST. It is already a success. :)

The Lazy One3328d ago (Edited 3328d ago )

The title was changed to say that. The only mention of blu-ray in the article is:

"reflected significant and growing contributions from strong Blu-ray high-definition disc sales"

Put up news objectively and let people decide how to tilt it ftlog. The title of this page is why I hate N4G.

edit: yea... disagree. I'm sorry your news isn't quite as PS3 positive when it's objective.

i smile :)!

the bots: but but i am bot what about DD??? its the future!!!

why so serious bots

ruibing3328d ago

Yeah, it is definitely becoming a mainstream media. I just hope they lower the cost a lil more now that the technology is improving. I would pay $20 for most of them, but $25-35 is a bit too high which makes me wait until holiday sales.

I buy most of my blu rays from amazon. Thie highest the sell there is like 27 bucks and i hardly by those. I am chilling on my blu ray spending already have like 30 blu rays lol and like 2 dvd's lol.

Only buying 4 more blu rays this yr. Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 and the eventual Batman Begins and Dark Knight Bundle.

Considering getting indiana jones and the temple of the crystal skull.

Still patiently waiting for lucas to bless us with star wars trilogy:D

Lionsgate movies are so mediocre.

ThatArtGuy3328d ago

For the most part I'd agree, but 3:10 to Yuma was really good. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale did great performances.

Oh look, it's an entire vineyard full of sour grapes...

The no holds barred violence factor. When Rambo turned the 50 cal on the guy sitting in the jeep ... sweeeeet!

Anyway, Blu-ray is really starting to take off. Iron Man and Dark Knight before Christmas.

EastCoastSB3328d ago

Sweet Jesus I can't wait for those two on Blu-Ray.

Oh and I agree with you about the Rambo thing.

morganfell3328d ago

Don't forget that Kill Bill 1 and 2 is out in September along with Bluray 4 disc edition of all 3 Godfather films. You get 3 movies and a bonus disk. The entire restoration and special edition process was overseen by Francis Ford Coppola.

Thoas3328d ago

I'm looking forward to Kill Bill too.

dro3328d ago (Edited 3328d ago )

and also due to the ps3 for including blu ray in every console,if that did not happen blu ray will not have been were it was today.
