Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been delayed to August 23, 2016, Square Enix has announced. The game had previously been due to release on February 23, 2016.
That's a big delay ;_;
Well given how Spring is loaded with more games than this holiday season, it figures that some would eventually be pushed back to avoid getting lost in the shuffle. Considering how Deus Ex: Human Revolution was very noticeably rushed to market however, I think giving Mankind Divided more time in the oven can only be a good thing. The game has looked great in every gameplay demo so far so even more care put into it on top of that can only be a good thing, right? It's certainly preferable to the alternative, at least.
How DigitalFoundry going to debunk DX12 myth if multiplatform AAA games that use DX12 on X1 keeps getting delay?
Indeed! As an Xbox gamer so many games til' Dues Ex launches. @Game4next ...whaaa?
DAMN !!! This is not nice at all. The new release date is pretty terrible. I will never, ever play a game like that during the summer ...
every year more and more games keep getting delayed. this industry has no control at all. it's hilarious.
@moldy But when they don't get delayed they can end up lacking in features or with glitches. It's a double edged sword.
But it's good that they want to make it even more fantastic instead of rushing it. Also lots of games coming early next year anyway :)...
Absolutely. It's among my most anticipated for 2016.
It is a big delay, but I can see where they're coming with this, I'm all for a better more stable maybe more content complete game, a 6 months delay is plenty of time to get their game complete. And on a personal note, Deus Ex: Human Revolution was for me one of the better games of the last generation, was really surprised at how good it was, wasn't anticipating that game at all (got it on Ps+), but i'm definitely anticipating this one.
Square don't went to get stung by the same bee that got Tomb Raider. Overcrowding is a big issue.
I really hope not :( The game looks wonderful and it would be a shame to see it scaled-back like so many others.
It's not going happen. But i do understand your fear, i blame Ubisoft for their excuse of Watch Dogs. I can not forget how Downgraded Watch Dogs was.
I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me
holy jesus polygon
I never asked for this.

Perfect response. Lol.
Was reading over on GAF, that they're using the 'Hitman' engine and things aren't progressing as foreseen, hence the now 6 month delay.
That's weird if so, because I would have thought that they'd stick with Unreal Engine. It's bizarre how many franchises have moved away from that, and I have to wonder if it's even worth it. Dishonored 2 won't be using Unreal Engine like the original game either, the developers for that are jumping over to IDTech 5/6 for the sequel, and I'm paranoid that so many developers jumping over to brand new tech rather than sticking with what they know is only going to cause problems down the line. It's particularly worrisome for me since Dishonored 2 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are two of my most anticipated games.
Eidos Montreal annouced back in December last year that they were using their in house engine called Dawn to develop Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Dawn engine is based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 engine.
Damn thats quite a delay :/ was really hoping it would come out in February. With both Mirror's Edge and this delayed my February is now pretty empty.
Considering the amount of games releasing at that window, i am not surprised its delayed.
We still got SFV, Firewatch, XCOM2, Far Cry Primal etc, its still pretty packed.
Well if it's worth the wait, I will not complain.
In other words, the demos they've been showing off is hyping up unrealistic expectations, and you shouldn't expect it to actually happen.
what is coming out in february?
Well for me I'm getting SF5 and Star Ocean though for Star Ocean I don't know if that date is set in stone or just the Japanese release date. I think XCOM 2 may have been delayed from February a bit too, could be wrong on that though. Anyways those are the only other games I'm personally looking forward to playing with a February release
lol, what isn't. Gravity Rush remaster, SFV, Mighty No 9, Far Cry Primal, Firewatch annnnnnnnd I'm poor. lol
Possibly trying to steer clear of Uncharted 4
Well that sucks, I guess I can finish up Fallout 4 and Rise of the tomb raider then.
This hurts. Deus Ex HR was one of my favs last gen. Was really excited for this. But I guess this'll give me a chance to through everything I have and will have come spring.
Surprise, surprise another game delayed.
Holy smokes, I love it! Whenever a company delays a game, I'm actually extremely happy. This means they've realized there are issues and are willing to put in more time to fix those said issues. Kudos to them man. SE usually drops the ball, but this is some great news.
Didnt their infamous preorder program state the game would release 4 days early if enough people preordered? What would they have done/said if that target had been reached before they canned the preorder? Released it?
4 days early, but six months late. Their new pre-order program.
Watch Dog downgrade incoming!!!!!
Last gen pretty much every game had a 2 to 3 year development cycle (few exceptions). Developer after developer are now learning that it's just not enough anymore. After Assassin's Creed Unity i think everyone took a mental note that don't force your game out half finished. I really don't mind, and it's looking like 2016 is a pretty evenly paced year. So it's nice to have games on those phantom months too.
Parts must have been quite sub-par and very buggy to under estimate the time to complete the game by an entire half year.
This is good because i doubt anything else will release in August. DEHR also released around that time of year and it meant i could focus solely on that
I say take all the time you need. I want a complete game. I want as much content they can have in as possible. I bet if they released early that content that was "missing" would have been sold as DLC. that equates to a "yuck" from me. I'm a fan of Human Revolution and I bought that game 3 years after its release. I was planning on buying this one the day it came out to make up for it.
Ah the 2016 delays have truly begun then... winter is coming.
August 23, 2011 is when HR released.
