Famitsu this week unveils Valkyria: Azure Revolution, a new entry in the Valkyria Chronicles tactical RPG series, as well as a remaster of the original Valkyria Chronicles for PlayStation 4.
Nice to hear that this series is finally returning to consoles
Lot of great series are making a comeback. Dragon Quest, Nier, etc. PS4 - savior of JRPGs.
OMG this is the best news I've heard since the FFVII remake! Valkyria Chronicles is the best strategy RPG I've played in ages and it has been grievously needing a proper sequel for over 7 years. (the PSP games don't count) I never thought Sega would do it though. I remember them saying that the PC version sales of VC were way beyond their estimates. Maybe that's what finally got their collective rears in gear?
I am ashamed to admit that I never finished the original VC :( Love the game and I got fairly well into it (couple of chapters right after you discovered something game-changing about Alicia *wink* *wink*). I still have the PS3 game but, as penance, I think I'll start the story over again on my PS4 :)
one of the Gems of the PS3 library, now with trophies...
Yes. It's one of the PS3 games I wanted trophies for the most. So excited for this Japanese game lineup on PS4, it's like i'm dreaming or back in time when Japanese games really made their mark on this industry. I really hope this does well and will spur SEGA to have the confidence to get one of their teams to remaster Shenmue I & II.
O wow! Unexpected! Can't wait.
Yes, yes, yes! Day one buy for both games if Sega translates both games into English.
Another day, another PS4 JRPG announced....is this real life? is this some sort of dream? lol Own it on PS3, own it on PC...will now own it again on PS4 ,day 1! I had a feeling that copyright claim for a game called Valktria had something to do with SEGA now doing a sequel to the series! HAPPY ITS ON CONSOLE TOO! This is such a sleeper megaton to many JRPG fans lol.
now we wait for new suikoden wild arms valkyrie profile legend of dragoon
I might give that list the classic "lolz" but at this point, FFVII, Shenmue 3, Valkyria Chronicles getting a sequel AND remaster.....anything can happen and nothing is out of reach this gen in terms of those happening. I'm right now prepared for any game announcement! (Seriously Square or Sega need to just buy Konami's IPs, they don't even deserve them lol) Exist Archive is pretty much a Valkyrie Profile successor, but expect Square to try to bring that series back as they stated they are seeking to bring a older series back, could be that series, could be even Parasite Eve (if they sort through that whole copyright thing)
i think Suikoden series dont come back to any consoles... because its Konami's IP Konami....
just gonna add dark cloud and shadow hearts
Indeed it is my good sir. I fervently requested Valkyria Chronicles remaster on Gio Corsi's list and I did not think I'd be getting both. I don't know if Sony's influenced this happening or not, but Sega truly seems to be turning around. I can't wait for this game as well as the various j-rpg and other genres flowing down the pipeline. This gen for Playstation is priming to be quite remarkable.
i wish man i wish someone buy suikoden from konami a pokemon and game of throne in one game is like a dream
Man I agree with this.Hopefully someone did buy Suikoden ip from Konami.
Hell yes! Don't like much turn based strategy but this game I really enjoyed
Very well ! More JRPG for everyone ! That's good new.
Never thought I would see the day... Please comes west I will throw a lot of money at a CE lol
What!!!!! I must be dreaming!!!...it is 4am atm. Nice, great to be a ps4 owner
Damnz im shocked :0 Sega has been turning around lately just like Square
Sega's been that way for a whole gen now. They've been doing some ace moves, buying up Relic, Creative Assembly, Atlus, doing series like Yakuza, getting teams like Platinum to make IPs like Vanquish and Bayonetta. Even titles like Valkyria Chronicles. Sega did a fine job last gen and that sound publishing is why they are still here to even make a sequel to it. Many might have not liked that they made the sequels for PSP and didn't localize the last one, but they still need to make money to keep the company a float. If anything, Square this gen is taking the Sega route with seeking more conservative development methods ie PS only. The one thing I liked about Sega and still do, is they stated Japanese, they never seeked to change their IPs to fit the west. Square and Capcom did and look where it got them in the end. Now both Square and Capcom have recently stated they inteed to make many PS titles as suppose to making all titles on all platforms. This is them actually doing what Sega has been doing for a while. Sega goes multiplat if they can afford to and it fits the game, they go 1 console or even 1 region if they feel they can't make that money back. Many might not like that, but this sound strategy might be why they had enough money to still exist and buy ace teams like Atlus. Yet Capcom was open to a buy out things where so bad and Konami is leaving AAA game development. Many again might not like how Sega does things, but at least they are careful enough to still be around, I'd rather they stay humble and true, then try to go and seek this COD fame that many keep trying to go after. Shame on Capcom and Square's reckless behavior last gen lol
Yakuza 5 is the one reason I havent packed away my ps3 yet, Infact I still need to finish Yakuza 4, bought the physical copy earlier this year, need to do so after the small matter of Fallout 4
Yea hope we get a western release we should because of costs i think they have the voices done
BRING TO WEST. THE REMASTER AND THE NEW GAME
Great to hear that valkyria chronicles getting a remaster. Been wanting to play this game for a while, since it's coming to the PS4 with supposedly trophy support would be great for the jrpg community. And shout out to Sega for doing this, just waiting for that Shenmue HD collection announcement. More importantly, We gamers stand with Paris.
Dreams do come true!
Yes yes yes Keep them coming. Love Japanese games.
Why do I get the impression that this is going to be an action-RPG...?
Perhaps because of this quote from VGU: "By the sounds of it, this new entry seems to move away from the more strategic aspect of the previous 3 games in the Valkyria series, and moves towards a real time battle system." http://videogamesuncovered.... I'm not sure I like the sound of that. I like having the time to carefully think my way through a level without feeling rushed.
Yeah, I already don't care about this. Another SRPG series getting the Shining Force treatment. SEGA can screw off.
Hope it gets localized.. Part 2 remastered should be included w the original in 1 package! Thats pushing it but you never know..
Awww yessssssssss. The series just wasn't the same on the PSP. Can't wait.
Please have English subs. Would like to see Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 in there as well.
