Star Wars Battlefront review for DICE's reboot of the well known Battlefront series. Bringing the game to a purely online multiplayer space with epic large scale battles.
"The biggest issue here is lack of content, for the price of a full game you're not getting the value out of the game. Sure it's got some fun online action, but this becomes stale very quickly having to play on the same maps over and over again." "It feels like a Battlefield re-skin with some poorly designed heroes thrown into the mix." So in conclusion, overpriced, low content, feels like Battlefield. I feel bad for those who will pay 120$ for the Ultimate Edition. People need to be smart and know what they are paying for before they shell out money for it.
Exactly.Gonna wait for the full experience next year.
Someone or should I say some site is going to get blacklisted by EA. Don't believe review embargoes up yet but better to wait to read reviews from the big reputable sites tomorrow.
dikdady, not really. I don't think the embargo will follow those who played via EA Access. So EA will not do anything to those with reviews via EA Access since it was the full game.
H2o if that's the case I wouldn't trust a review that was written based off of 10hrs of play for a multiplayer title. That's not even enough time to level up to unlock some of the more impactful elements of the game better cards, weapons and abilities.
Not sure if those big sites are all that reputable. I'll take gamers over the media any day of the week.
idk, i am not paying more than 60$ for it but i played ove 30 hours on the beta and loved every second and want more!
Well this is one of those games that it's better to just wait for the sequel when they include all the features Battlefront 2 had. Like... Galactic Conquest Instant Action AI Mass Assortment of vehicles(There were 37 useable) Space Battles 32vs32 PvP Etc... I usually buy games to support them but after the beta and EA Access I can say that I'm either waiting for the Complete Edition OR just waiting for the sequel in 2-3 years. Where they add the features the game needs.
EA - Its in the Game! Gamers: No, its not.
Its in the Season Pass!
Lol, I almost forgot that slogan of there's...damn now it's just sadly cruel.
Yeah, sadly those words confirm what I didn't want this game to be...I loved BF1 and 2, but I'll wait a little while on this.
So are you going to comment and tell people 'to be smart' in every average or low scored review for this game even if you don't seem 'interested'? I just can't wait for this game and I do know it many hours of great fun even for the standard edition,
So because i criticize the game and want it to be better and don't want the Devs to become greedy and sell us small content means i am not interested? I so wanted to get this game but their 50$ season pass and no campaign made it impossible for me.
It's a DICE game if it had a campaign it would be crap... Therefore it's not needed. The game does seem to have a lack of content but if you enjoy the game and will play it a lot does it matter? People WILL buy this and enjoy it. People brought BF3 and BF4 also brought premium so people will get the pass for this. Also does the fact that because BF3 and BF4 had a campaign make a season pass worth 50$? as I don't remember people complaining half as much when premium was done for those games.
'So because i criticize the game and want it to be better and don't want the Devs to become greedy and sell us small content means i am not interested? ' No that has nothing to do with it. You claimed a few times it made it 'impossible' for you to get this game (whatever that means) so you ve been saying your not interested in buying the game, I m not guessing anything. I just think you made your point clear enough in many previews and such so I was asking if you d keep going on. Your comment seems fair enough but I never understand why gamers keep going on and on in comments about games they supposedly dont want. Many games I dont like for whatever reason and I just move on instead of wasting my time on and on in the comments. You got to admit if many gamers think as you do, many also loved the Beta and will have a blast with this game so if its about telling people what they should like or not like (or not buy) that s kind of annoying. Respectfully, happy gaming.
I wanted to buy this game my friend by the problem is simple, it doesnt have half the content of Battlefront 2 had at launch. And they want to charge 110$ for the full experience? If that is not greed, then i dont know what is.
Ok we get it, OB1Biker, you love Star Wars...
Hope more sites are honest about the score. We need to show EA that they've ruined Battlefront and this kind of shit shouldn't be allowed. It's lacking so much content that it's last instalment had over 10 years ago....10 YEARS, come on. Even the generic set up the multiplayer has now, Battlefront II had such a great structure, why ruin that.
I doubt anyone will mention how small and boring the content is. Very few website did that with Evolve, do you think this will be any different? I am expecting an 8 or a 9 from IGN.
"Why ruin that" I'm honestly hoping sometime soon the most recent build of Battlefront 3 will leak. Once it does and people get their hand son it, we'll finally have the sequel the series deserves. @Dark Ocelet They gave it a 7
But the excuse will be :- "But who cares it is star wars"
Hit reply on the wrong post. >.<
Happens to me, don't worry about it :D
Thats EA for you.. Dice are great devs but EA is behind them cracking that whip.. DLC and the season pass??? Nope! Maybe if a GOTY or a complete edition releases for a decent price.. @ Ocelet, your right but i mean a version with all the content they want you to pay for..
I doubt Battlefront will win a GOTY.
im NEVER touching this game just cuz of the $50 DLC. FOH!
This game seems like a 7 game when it is all said and done. Oh well, waiting for it to drop to $20 before buying it on Steam now. Edit below: you are correct, it is on EA origin. Well, waiting for the digital copy to be $20 then.
Its probably not gonna be on steam for a while, its EA so its on their origin platform.
A SALE on Origin?? Hahaha, don't make me laugh. "Was £59.99. Now £59.89"
Well then, I just wait for the inevitable EA Access freebie in 6 months then. LoL
I called it. Its gonna be mild fun for a bit till the movie releases and then bam gone. I am gonna buy it when its bam. 10 bucks hopefully
From my 10 hours with it I'd rate it about the same.
This is the way I look at games. Every hour of gameplay can cost $5. I use that figure because movie tickets are around $10 and the movie can be anywhere from 1.2 to 2.5 hours. If I get at least 30 hours or more out of a game the $60 is justified.
Spoken like a true salesman. We want to play games and get great content not discuss figures and how many hours played.
Give this man a Bells! This summarizes exactly how I feel about MGS V.
Well said. My logic follows yours in that if you play 60 hours its 1$ an hour and if you play 120 hours, this becomes 50 cents an hour. However, hardline I only netted 53 hours which means in Canada ~$80/53=$1.51 for each hour played. In BF4 I have played 153 hours so ~($80+$50)/153=0.85 cents for each hour played. In BF3 I have played 387 hours so ~($80+$50)/387=0.34 cents for each hour played. In essence, if you go anything below 3$ an hour I think the purchase is justified.
But 2.5 hours of a game is like 1 hour of interesting stuff and 1.5 hours of running, loading screens, menus, matchmaking, and respawn times. It's not the same quality as a movie, of which 90% of it stays in your head forever.
If people support this then it's the future of gaming. Getting charged for a disc with basic content only to pay extra and get much more than what's on the disc. It's a clear rip off so I hope everyone considers buying this after a discount
Some people will use the same excuses like, "games cost more to make now so they have to make their money from somewhere else". I stand by what i said back when EA got the rights to license Star Wars games, they only got those rights so they could milk the fanbase. They don't care about making good Star Wars games, they just want people's money.
EA the last ten years have been terrible and they never learn. They see money signs not fans.
'they have to make their money from somewhere else' I got into a heated debate with my best mate who used the same tagline in his text when I said it will be a 7/10 at best and its lined up for DLC milking. not sure if we're still friends now lol
It Already is. Ea made more off DLC last quarter than from game sales. EA will destroy gaming with this stuff.
Looks like a 20 Dollar game for me...
Yep... Would hit that price pretty quick. I suspect by January mass trade ins are going to happen. There going to be a huge front load of sells, then when fans realize how shallow the game is, trade in time.
They're copying the Destiny model. Destiny had little content on release and you needed it's DLC for the complete version.
Which is why Destiny is a dangerous business model. It has a strong fanbase, it's also angered other gamers, but if that model continues to succeed as it has, then it won't take much for other game developers to dip their feet into the darkness. Big games influence the competition. Call of Duty is an example, all of the other shooters that tried to either copy or implement it's formula resulted in many "meh" experiences for gamers. Destiny is potentially the new prime example of what's to come.
Ill buy it...I have plenty of money to throw away...so Ill give it a shot
Can you throw some my way sailor? ;)
I work 60-70 hours a week. Im single with no kids and have a really good paying job and title. I am fortunate and I am thankful for that. I am single with no kids. My money goes in the bank and I rarely spend money unless I have to. Ill go try it out and see what its about. I havent bought a game in a good while anyway and Christmas is coming up. Ill buy a few games and get caught up. .....and I dont sail....lol
Good thing I didn't buy this.
Well, i'm glad i bought BO 3. And i will buy Fallout 4 and BloodBorne the old hunter.
I'm playing it right now on EA access and 5 hours in I've pretty much covered everything in the game. The biggest problem is that it teases you, some of the solo missions start off amazing, beautiful environments, amazing music, you feel like you're about to get into an epic mission...then 5 minutes later you realize it's a small restricted map and enemies just spawn from each side of the map in order. It's extra disappointing. Secondly the gameplay just doesn't translate well in game form I feel. The shooting looks amazingly accurate to the movies, but that's exactly the problem. In gameplay they feel like toy laser weapons, there's barely any kickback. In comparison to Halo's laser/plasma weapons which feel visceral, the satisfaction of shooting a gun just isn't there for me. Overall it's a lot of fun, but it's not the best shooter and the content is really short.
I don’t what critics were thinking when they handed out E3 game of show to Titanfall, Evolve, and Battlefront the past 3 years. 3 games that will not live up to the hype
