Play: Prince of Persia Preview

There was a glut of remakes of old games on the PS2, most of which pointlessly and thoughtlessly dragged their source material from the 2D plane on which they belonged, to a 3D plane that fit them about as comfortably as a pair of pants with a lobster in. But the best of the bunch, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, did things differently. It took just enough from the original Prince Of Persia to make it familiar and recognisable – its setting and its blend of action, puzzles and platforming – then added a whole bunch of its own ideas to make it work as an exciting, fresh 3D game in its own right.
