1UP: "During the late 1990s, no trip to the arcade was complete without a few friendly games of NFL Blitz. And by friendly, I mean blood-blister-inducing epic battles for bragging rights. That proud tradition carried over to the PlayStation (and later the Dreamcast) pretty well at first. But even before the NFL signed its exclusive deal with EA Sports, the limitations that the league imposed on Blitz in the name of protecting its image significantly toned down the action, leaving the game a shadow of its former self. Much of that spirit returned when Midway rebooted the series without NFL-imposed chains in Blitz: The League. For the sequel, Midway plans to both take advantage of the power the PS3 and Xbox 360 offer and make some refinements to the game based on player feedback."
