Black Ops 3 Matchmaking Will Prioritize Network Quality Over Skill, Says Treyarch Director

MP1st - If you’re a subscriber to the belief that skill-based matchmaking was at the root of all evil in last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s online multiplayer experience, you’ll be happy to hear what Treyarch Director Dan Bunting recently had to say about matchmaking in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

The story is too old to be commented.

They say this every year...and yet I and others will still be teleporting around the spot or running in the same spot like im on some kind of loop.

Its embarrassing that for all they money they make they still dont provide dedi servers..

SourtreeDing1124d ago

just means your connections sucks i never have problems with any game including PSN.. thats all i run a wired 50/50 connection

Masterchief_thegoat1124d ago

@SourtreeDing you playing the wrong game. the game we playing teleporting around the spot

FlexLuger1124d ago

I also run a wired connection.I also happen to play mostly online with friends on lots of different games... COD is the only game I play that has a shitty connection. Halo, titanfall, BF...never give me those problems. only COD.Even the battlefield beta was more stable than what I have experienced in COD at times. Its not always particularly bad for me but it certainly has its days. and all my other shooters play just fine online.

They just need to stop cheaping out...funny how the other games I mentioned run on dedi servers and perform better over my connection...maybe it has something to do with them running on dedicated servers...I dunno...

I don't think I've had that bad of issues in my experiences. I have had it on occasion but it's never a big deal.

Unreal011124d ago

Yeah, it's never been a huge issue to me either and I've played Call of Duty games for a long time. Not to say there isn't an issue at all but I do think people blow this issue way out of proportion, a lot comes down to your own internet connection.

TeamLeaptrade1124d ago

Yeah with COD it's never been too big of a problem. I don't have the best ISP either, and I don't have a ton of problems with lag or anything.

XtraTrstrL1124d ago

What makes it worse, is you know the connections are gonna start degrading over the months very very quickly. As soon as the new content comes out and the player pool starts getting fragmented, it's basically over for those that don't buy all the $$$$ DLC.

That's why what EA does with PVZ, Guerrilla Games does with Shadowfall, and now Capcom with SF5 - is the way to go. It's really just the old PC way, of allowing the content to also be gotten free or with in-game money. So the playerpool never gets split up, and that encourages everyone to stick around the community and play the game for longer.

I dont ha e problems witb visual lag its the whole hidden lag that kills me in c.o.d. on my screen i run across a hallway, head around the corner and up some stairs then i die and his killcam shows me in the hallway still. First game to introduce this was Crimson Skies on OG Xbox and its the worse thing to happen to online gaming. They just simply mask 75% of the lag.

Immorals1124d ago

If they really wanted to prioritise network quality, they'd drop P2P connections. It's just embarrassing.

ThunderPulse1124d ago

That's why I stopped playing Shooters with P2P.

neocores1124d ago

Im soo glad AW did it by skill so it did not give 2-shits of ur connection

totalrecoilzz1124d ago

i thought bops 3 beta connections were awesome and it did have dedicated servers at times and that is why u had a 25 ping

81BX1124d ago

Towards the end of the beta it got better. Its 2015 and its the biggest shooter. It has p2p with host migration.... unacceptable.
