DLC Done Right

"You know what's bull****? A few days after Soul Calibur IV's release, downloadable content was made available. New headgear and costumes to use in the character creator for 100 points. The kicker is that reportedly the download's size has led gamers to the conclusion that you're simply paying for a "key" to unlock content already on the disk. Rumor has it that Vader is on the disk as well and the DLC will be treated in the same fashion. F*** it.

DLC done right is what Burnout has done or what DICE are doing with Bad Company, FREE.

I think B:BC Free Conquest should have been there from the start, but I do give them props for responding and doing it anyways. Most just shove it aside.

i'm with shadow. i love what DICE is doing with bad company. i loved gold rush and continue to play it, but not as much as before. when conquest is released i'm sure i'll be back playing that constantly for awhile. same with burnout paradise. it gives the games legs as opposed to giving it all in one big package. as long as it's free, i'd rather developers did it this way because when conquest does get released, there'll be an influx of players as well and the online community will thrive for it.

i thought that the point of DLC was for developers to charge for assets for their game, and that these assets have been in development for a month or 3, guess i was wrong.

I don't mind paying for dlc if its good and if it isn't on the disc!

The only things i have payed for are the two Warhawk expansions and i thought they were worth it but if Yoda is made availiable for the PS3 in Soul Calibur 4 and he is already on the disc then screw Namco Bandai! I just hope Tekken 6 isn't treated in the same way

It is bull, but no-one is forcing you to buy it. I've yet to buy any DLC on Live. its Juts a game to me and the extra contents usually aren't worth my money once I finish the game.

On ps3 $1.49 means $1.49
on xbox360 $1.49 means a 100m$ points & that means $2.00
for 160 m$ points & that means $4.95 a month to use xboxlive to download it.
now you have 60m$ points loaned to m$. 60 m$ points means about .79 cents.
its gets more expensive the larger the purchase to download & to your hardrive.

my calculation sais 50 bucks for the year. since i dont dlc. that was easy..

what a dumb a$$ crying foul over a dollar and change, but yet baught a pos3 at launch for 600 when it had no good games. kid even if i did dlc i would rather pay a low amount over time then to hurt my bank account in 1 swoop. if you are crying over .79 cents you should not be gaming buddy.

Nobody is forcing you to buy this junk. Would you rather see companies not offer this stuff at all? Out of site, out of mind? Then you're going to say "It should have been on the disc in the first place". Well, genius, how would you even know about it if it was never offer as DLC or on the disc in the first place. We're complaining because we want it, but not for 15 bucks for some old songs. However, 2 bucks for some costumes for character creation isn't that bad, assuming it's at least 10 or 20 pieces.

Why complain about them selling us stuff that we already bought, hence why it's on the disc? Because we already paid for it, sans the stupid keys to unlock that stuff.
If I sold you a car and then, after you bought it, told you that in order to unlock the full power of the engine, you have to pay me again, wouldn't you be pissed? It's just like this right now with some developers, just on a smaller (in terms of pricing) scale.

I'm tired of that kind of comments ... dlc WERE there before people charged them ... those were called Freebies , bonuses when greedy devs and publishers didnt charge for them , or included them in actually lenghty addons .

the whole DLC thing means that once you had guys like blizzard who developped a few freebies like new heroes units and maps in warcraft 3 . NOw with the current market and state of mind of sheep players , they would be fools to deny that money , and would charge instead for those new units and maps .

And you're lucky if they do usefull stuff like those maps and units i mentioned and not instead some model painting like oblivion's house .

i hate dlc... it gives more reason to devs to be lazy on a game, give us less content for our money, and then tease us with new little add-ons, which we need to pay, to complete a little more the gave itself. F*ck the devs who do that.

Why does the soundtrack cost as much as a decent game?
It would be justified if the music was put in your music folder and could be enjoyed outside the game, but that is not the case.

Namco is trying to take advantage of the consumer.
