Game idealist takes a look as to whether or not Back to the Future: The Game 30th Anniversary Edition is worth buying on the PS4 and Xbox One.
look, I get that this month it's the 30th Anniversary of Back to the Future, but that is the MOVIE. Giving the title of 30th anniversary edition for a game that released in late 2010 / early 2011 just sounds dumb to me.
but it's based off the movie that just hit 30 so it's fine.
lol, I get that, but my problems are the game is actually not based off the movie at all. I mean all of the episodes have things that none of the 3 movies show. Basically each episode is like it's own mini movie. Obviously the label was thrown on the box to attract people to buy it.
Really? Has the world just gotten that stupid, why is common sense always so difficult Its BACK TO THE FUTURE THE GAME part of the BTTF FRANCHISE...Back to the Future the FRANCHISE is celebrating its 30th anniversary...Has nothing to do with the game, they are exploiting the anniversary of THE FRANCHISE
exactly. But since the game has nothing to do with the original movies, what is the point of calling it a 30th anniversary? Each episode in the game is completely unique and independent of the movies. Clearly I said in my original comment that I recognized that this month is the 30th anniversary of the movie. You are preaching about common sense but clearly reading comprehension is not a specialty of yours?
I know it doesn't follow the story of the movie, but how can you legitimately say Back to the Future: The Game, has "nothing" to do with Back to the Future?
Obviously it is borrowing characters and settings made famous from the movie, I'm not completely blind here. Back to the Future is definitely up there on my movie franchise lists. Tell me once when you have seen a game take an anniversary date from a movie and slap it on the box? To me personally it means that they didn't feel confident in just releasing the game on PS4 and XB1, so they had to slap that tag on it to try to help sucker in some extra sales.
Technically it's a fourth movie in video game form, written by Bob Gale himself.
"what is the point of calling it a 30th anniversary?" This is the 30th anniversary of the franchise existing, and this version of the game commemorates that. Really simple. Not the 30th anniversary of the game. 30th anniversary of BttF. Is there something more complicated that I'm missing?
nope, but using an anniversary for a movie and slapping it onto the game for marketing PR sounds a little desperate doesn't it? I get that the movie is 30 years old, I saw part 2 in theatres as a kid, but I have never seen a game borrow an anniversary tag from a movie that it is based off of before. I am surprised Alien Isolation didn't have a 25th Anniversary Edition slapped onto the packaging to commemorate the movie being released in 1979. See what I mean?
No I'd say just buy it on one system. It's going to be the same game on PS4 and X1 so don't think it's worth buying on ps4 and xbox one /s Seriously though, Yes. Great franchise and I'm looking forward to the game
I'll be getting it for sure.
Havent played it yet and telltale make great games. So yea, will buy it. Another reason to buy it is that the whole game will come out at once and not in episodes like the rest of their games. Most importantly, easy platinum trophy.
Has it really been 30 years? Dang. Still, it's an enjoyable trilogy (movies). I haven't played the game though.
It's a great game, you wont regret it.
Have it on PS3 and PC, have pre-ordered it on PS4. Just finished watching the 30th anniversary Blu-ray's as well, my fave films of all time.
I liked the movies when they first came out but It does not do anything for me now nostalgia meh.
Some of the greatest films ever even now, and the game isn't the best in the world but still an enjoyable few hours, played on PS3 and I'll be grabbing again for ps4, gonna get a physical copy this time tho.
I might pick it up as I didn't play it when it first came out. Though I may just get it digitally on the 360 or something.
Beat this game twice on PS3, once digitally and then fracked the physical copy down to beat it again. Loved it a lot, so I'm definitely getting it on ps4. I'll play through it with a Pepsi Perfect in hand while waiting to go see the trilogy in theaters again. October is BTTF month and I love it!
