VRFocus reports on the reveal of the first prototypes for the HoloLens mixed reality (MR) head-mounted display (HMD) from Microsoft.
Turning into a product one step at a time.
OK VRFocus site has given multiple malware warnings via Chrome...WTF?
This is going to fail hard.
Its all depends on the price.
The fact that Microsoft are already limiting just who will have access to Hololens is actually a double edged sword in and of itself. Whether people accept this fact or not. Be it Big or small developers or Industries outside of gaming, what difference does it make if a small developer doesn't or isn't able to take advantage of the Hololens SDK!? Either way Microsoft has the control over what applications arise out the use of their technology. Meaning they have the final say so as to whatever uses a small developer is able to come up with as to if they want it on their platforms or not. Limiting who has access to the technology limits adoption as well as penetration! They are essentially shooting themselves in the foot, all because of price and to so call limit in essence an onslaught of possible shovelware. When all they have to do is say no to what doesn't fit their criteria or standards. By letting small businesses, small or Indie developers the opportunity to have access to Hololen, not only are they giving them the ability to become accustomed to the technology, they are in essence pushing the tech further towards the goal of mass adoption.
