FIFA 16 remains unchallenged to claim a second All Formats No1 - UK Charts

Chart Track:
FIFA 16 (-74%) remains unchallenged to claim a second All Formats No1 crown this week.

A Tuesday launch for ‘Lego Dimensions’ leads Warner’s new Toys to Life title to a debut at No2. Despite being the third Interactive Toys launch of 2015 and the second in two weeks, ‘Lego Dimensions’ debut sees it comfortably surpass week 1 sales of both ‘Disney Infinity 3.0’ & ‘Skylanders Superchargers’.

In the sector as a whole it’s the third best launch week, behind both ‘Skylanders Giants’ and Skylanders Swap Force’. Take 2 also enjoy a strong debut with another Tuesday release ‘NBA 2K16’ entering the chart this week.

Week 1 sales for the franchise are up by more than 53% over last year’s entry, which makes this week’s No3 the best week 1 seller in the series to date.

With two new arrivals in the Top 3, ‘Destiny: The Taken King’ (-20%) and ‘Forza Motorsport 6’ (-32%) are both down two places to No4 and No5.

Or perhaps they like the game and don't agree the alternatives are better.

SniperControl3122d ago

Really? Dont you think the better game would sell better?

FIFA is the better seller because it offers a more complete package, FIFA has PES beat on menu presentation, graphics, licences, commentary, in-game presentation, career mode.

PES' overall presentation is p155 poor, not even a fabled option file can change that.

While i admit PES plays the better game of football, FIFA is not that far behind, 16 is leaps and bounds better than 15.

Casual gamers far outweigh us hardcore gamers these days, darn you Wii sports and Wii Fit.

FUT has a massive following. Regardless of whether the game is great or not, people will flock for it. Plus, it's hard for people to abandon what they are comfortable with...and that's FIFA. PES is a game that opens up after several games. There are nuances that you just don't see/get with a couple of games. (unless you really dedicate yourself to just mastering moves in training...even then it's different against opponents and player to player)

It's too late to overthrow FIFA. It's so far gone.

This is one of many games the media can't change people's views on.
Fifa is too big a brand now. So, handing out lower scores or bias one liners isn't going to change a anything lol.

I'm use to the FIFA formula, and it is where the majority play including my friends. I'm not about to revert to PES.

Fifa claiming number one spot is the natural order of things :D

iceman063122d ago

In that sense, it's like CoD. It doesn't really matter how good or bad it is. It will sell like crazy. (not saying that FIFA 16 is bad, just that it wouldn't really matter to many if it was because it has become the default, go-to for the sport)

Fifa always go well in europe.

RosweeSon3122d ago

Prob didn't help I imported my Lego Dimensions from France for a good 25% off.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter329d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig329d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast329d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g329d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka329d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

Step Aside MultiVersus, Lego Dimensions Is The Better Warner Bros. Crossover Game

DualShockers Writes :It's not the best of times to be a MultiVersus fan. Following a 99% player base drop over the course of eight months, the game's online features will soon be shutting down to allow Player First Games to get a full release ready for 2024. It's not quite died in the way I thought it might, but it's certainly entering a period of stasis that I don't think it would undergo if there hadn't been such a mass exodus."
