Brave New Genre: Huxley, the MMOFPS

An MMOFPS? Many scoff at such a feat. A cross-platform MMOFPS? Many more join in. A cross-platform MMOFPS with the name of Huxley? Everyone dies of laughter. Korean-based Webzen is developing the Massive Multiplayer Online First-Person Shooter, Huxley (what a mouthful!) with battles up to 120 people participating in a persistent online world. Webzen plans to couple the hectic and fast-paced FPS with more traditional MMORPG elements, like leveling and questing.

Looks interesting - it can either be amazing or the worst thing in the world. It also looks like you need a badass computer to run it.

Well nope, just a 269 Euro/299 Dollar 360 is enough :P

I Love Xbox 3603780d ago

PS3 games look better than xBOX games, they also run better than their Xbox counterparts, even after significant optimizations for the Xbox's architecture the games still look and run inferior. Therefore, the PS3 is more powerful based on the simple evidence that games look and play better on it than the Xbox 360.

Technically, we know that the PS3's GPU is more powerful than the Xbox's. Also, the PS3 uses unified shaders and memory and this allows the video to have access to the whole 512mb of RAM on the system , unlike the Xbox which only allows the GPU to use an insufficient 256mb. Also the Xbox's Dashboard uses far more memory than the PS3's firmware, which does far more than the Blade for less. This allows more memory to be used for gaming than rather for non gaming processes. Then we must look at the famous CELL processor, which has been proven that it is an superior processor for games because of the nature of its much touted SPEs, whose capabilities are unlimited. Compared to the Xbox 360s 3core processor and its multithreaded architecture, the PS3's processor simply put is far superior for gaming applications.

What we can deduce from these facts is that the PS3 is the most powerful gaming console ever created.

What makes it really simple is to just compare the games, which system runs the games better and which system has the best looking games.

The answer is the PS3.

But with the advances being made into the competition i hope they can have something like the touted dynamic objective system because as i stated in the normal zone i think things will get to hectic if its only a fragfest. Also i heard that the 360 version would only be a singleplayer campaign with limited online capabilities however since i have no evidence since i forgot the link lets hope it was a fake and they can deliver the whole experience to the 360.

Didnt mean it as a reply sorry about that.

The story sounds a bit blah but the gameplay looks like unreal tourny gone huge dont know if thats good thing or a bad thing since unreal was a bit to hectic for me adding more people into them mix is questionable.

mikeslemonade3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

The unreal engine 3 isn't meant for mmo games so the game is going to look like crap. There's already plenty of generic looking unreal engine 3 shooters.

DaKid3780d ago (Edited 3780d ago )

I agree unreal is really quick, I couldn't imagine what it would be like with 60 or even 120 player matches. I think I would spend around %90 of the match dead, and %10 wondering what the hell is happening

Planetside and Neocron did it first afaik. Judging from the Korean beta, Huxley still has a loooooooong way to go.

Greysturm3780d ago

Else it will lose some if not most of its appeal.

supahbad3780d ago

kind of seems to me like it will try to take away some of the light from Fallout3
