NO Metal Gear Solid 4 for The 360 says Konami

The internet was aflutter with rumours this weekend, as reports speculated that the massive PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid instalment, Guns of the Patriots was stealthing its way over to Xbox 360 - rumours that Konami has since debunked to CVG.

Theres a fair bit of anger in you mate. Im not that bothered bout these sorta games to be honest, i get a bit bred of them after a while. But ive played both MGS and SC open mindedly (though the SC i played was a newer version then the MGS i played), but i thought they were more or less equally matched. Course it would be great for MS if MGS came to the 360, but in the defence of all the 'xbots', the next SC is exclusive to the 360 (i think). So all us 360 players will be able to play a great stealth game anyway.

I've played this game ever since it was released on nintendo 8 bit. This game as of recent has had great cinematrics and great game play. This game has a great devoted core of fans, because of the great story lines and characters. The weapons and gadgets are cool too. This game will be a great on the PS3. 360 has cool game's but the system does bore me sometimes with all the FPS games. It needs more games like this and God of War other games that you can get on PS3 and Wii. This latest installation of MG is sure to be one of the best if not the best of the series. This game has a over a 20year history so stop dissing and respect the longevity. If you can't do that you shouldn't even call yourself a gamer.

The fact that the muliplatform rumor has been debunked goes to show you can't put a price on loyalty. Konami and Kojima are loyal to their fans, and by looking at this article I can tell the Xbox360 crowd is not. The MGS series is too deep for most Xbox360 players anyway.

is that i want to PLAY a game. if i want to read a book, i'll read a book. if i want to watch a movie, i'll put in a dvd. play for 2 minutes, sit still while i talk to somebody for 3 minutes, watch 10 minutes worth of cutscenes, play for 3 minutes, sit still and talk to 4 different people for 6 minutes, watch 15 minutes of cutscenes, repeat. i don't care about this "great, deep story" that people keep chirping about. let me PLAY the damn game, not watch and listen to it. in splinter cell, i can talk to people and do things at the same time. i hide in the dark. i don't pull a cardboard box out of my @ss that magically becomes big enough for me to fit in. i can look around the entire area, not some small, fixed section like i'm wearing a neck brace. i don't have to sit through 85% cutscenes to progress the story, i play the story as it unfolds. if they want to bring the metal gear from the nes to the 360 i'll take it. it was the only good 1 in the whole series. way better than that garbage snake eater. this of course, is all MY opinion.

Thank you for proving my point. The MG series is not appreciated by the 360 crowd, so why port it. One of the main things I look for in games is story. It is what separates an expensive toy from something closer to an art form. I also find the move towards 'games must be realistic and nothing else' stupid. OMG he has a "!" over his head, that not realistic. Its a game, get over it. I love the MG story line. It's deep and moving, the writing can also be funny and witty. The charactersare also some of the most memorable in any game. People hound this game because it's part of a long series. Thats because the games you play get old quick and you always want something new. You connect more to a series like MG, like a series of books. You don't have to keep books, movies, and games in their own categories. If you blend them it makes for a more memorable experience. Everything else is quickly hailed and quickly forgoten for something new.

it has nothing to do with being part of the 360 crowd. i just don't like the style of the series. i don't like not being able to look around the entire area. i hate the fixed camera. i don't like not being able to move and accomplish tasks while i'm talking to someone. i don't like all of the cutscenes. just let me play. if every single metal gear was on an xbox system instead of playstation, i would still feel the same way. i'm the guy that has never played halo 2 multiplayer and traded the game in before i had it 2 weeks. i'm the guy that thinks gta is boring and repetative. i just don't like it regardless of platform. i prefer splinter cell. splinter cell does do better on xbox, but it was created for xbox. there are a lot of 360 owners that would like to see this title on the system. i'm just not 1 of them.

Publishers also know that the PS3 will sale once inventory picks up and that is more money for them. Both systems are good and will make publisers happy. in the next year it will not be all about the 360. Plus with both systems doing well all gamers will do well.

metal gear solid has super gameplay, super story, and super fun...man i can imagine it on my ps3 right now rolling on snakes back w/ motion sensing, and crawling w/ my camo ..man. hideo kojima is gonna make this game stellar on the PS3 w/o rumble..i've been playing final fantasy 12 on my ps2 w/o rumble and this thing is hoootttt ... as long as the game is sweet. man... snake is splinters cells father you have to agree.

I wouldn't say thats a confirmation. They are just saying that it's not outside the realm of possibility they they would make a port, which has been the trend. MGS went to GameCube, about 3 or 4 years after the original. MGS2 went to Xbox when they did a redux version, it was the most lack luster of the series, whice may explain the distaste of the series by the Xbox crowd. Correct me if im wrong but I don't think MGS3 was ported to any other system, which might show a reverse in the trend.

I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Metal Gear Solid / PS1. It's not my taste. Too corny , waayyy to much talking for a stealth action title.

Pretty much the first time I hid under a table to enjoy a 15 min. converstion with some chick and asked her out while hiding from armed assault troops I turned it off.

I would not be buying this game. I just feel this is another Assassins Creed as far as being a PS3 "exclusive."

It's a definite split between "No, Konami's lying" and "I don't want to play it anyway." The Playstation-Metal Gear relationship has been going on for quite some time and, despite some experimentation with Xbox hardware and outsourcing to Silicon Knights for a remake, there's no reason to throw it all away.

Kojima could easily find another publisher, so it's not like Konami can easily sway him.

What do you spect them to say? Let's pretend that this is true and they will be making this game for the 360; do you know how this would affect the PS3? Why don't they say, "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear to the 360 [ever]. From the Pics seen of this game it was and is no where near finished. All of the Demos Released for this game was done on PS2 hardware. Don't be surprised if this game appears on ps2 first.

I've been forcing myself to get used to no rumble, and it really doesn't take too long to get used to. I wont miss it that much because if its a good game I'll be more focused on the action then wether or not I can feel a rumble. I think about halfway through 07 though Sony will release a rumble/tilt controller. MS might do the same.
