IGN:
The new Hitman is taking an unconventional approach to release and rolling out incrementally. But the devs haven't shown why that's good for us.
The month of October is going to be filled with excitement as the Hitman franchise is commemorating its 25 years of being in the business.
It’s the 25th anniversary this year?
I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.
Super lacklustre
Cultured Vultures: With the World of Assassination Trilogy wrapped up, here's our thoughts on the best and the worst in the series.
From PSU: "Ten years ago, the Hitman franchise was in a transitory state. Blood Money had become something of a classic and with Hitman Absolution there was a clear decision to push IO Interactive’s assassination sim series to a whole new level. That experimental, often divisive, entry turned out to be pivotal in what would follow.
Elements of Absolution, such as its accessibility and player-created content, would be mixed with the more traditional Hitman games’ sense of murderous creativity to birth the Hitman Trilogy 0f 2016-2021. A series that would take its creators on a turbulent journey of publisher changes, independence, and the eventual triumph of being handed the tantalizing 007 license."
Any new hitman release is good for gamers. It is a question of whether they keep the stealth kills and all out gun blazing balace or not.
This episodic crap is stupid, just release the full game when its ready and working flawlessly.
if it's good i will buy it when the full game comes out on physical media. right now they want us to pay $60 and keep waiting every month for new content. They call it free content but if it's really free than release a core game which is 15-20 hours long than add more free content
but instead what we will get is episode 1 for $60 plus tax. It's like when they say $30 for season pass but we don't know what its gonna be but trust us
do we or can we trust Square Enix?
as much hate as hitman absolution got, it was a pretty good game. The developers are stuck on what to do, should do make future hitman games like absolution and possibly reach a bigger audience or should they make it like old school hitman games and target a much smaller fanbase
game development is becoming more and more expensive. i hope this new hitman is not like old school and not like absolution but somewhere in the middle where it pelases the old fans and the ones newer coming to hitman games
Is Hitman's Release Plan Good for Gamers?
No. They are asking full price for less that half a product that will be finished one day...maybe...
So all this talk about "episodic" I mean...who confirmed this?
What the team states- "Is HITMAN episodic now?
We think the word ‘episodic’ sets up the expectation that we will sell individual content drops for individual prices but that’s not something we're planning to do"
http://www.rockpapershotgun...
So I'm pretty sure no one has confirmed such a thing for the game. Also that podcast didn't even cover anything regarding why it would be good, bad etc.
They merely talk about its release date now.
Its not early access as its not unfinished as the game works.
Its not episodic as the contracts being added are due to what gamers are asking for based on what they are frequently playing ie they could add extra contracts on a map due to its popularity etc.
The story is the only part which they state they will add stuff to over time. Those who want it on disk...can wait, those that don't want to participate in the live events....can wait for the disk version.
BOTH the DISK and digital version are getting all the content, beside the DISK version clearly not having the live events as they've passed.
The concept of them adding contracts to areas gamers like the most or vote for etc can't really be put in day 1...its being added based on response.
