IGN review of Sonic The Hedgehog

Lucas M. Thomas writes for IGN:

"So, on the whole, this little 8-bit, step-down conversion of SEGA's flagship mascot platformer is just curious and unique enough to merit both your consideration for download, and taking up its own space alongside the original in Nintendo's Wii Shop. It's lucky to get that space, too -- because, if today's been any indication, it doesn't even matter if you've put out an official press release to reserve your spot." (Sonic the Hedgehog, Wii) 7.5/10

It's sad really.
Because they could do great things on that system. Golden Axe was missing two characters on the SMS, but it played GREAT!
