I hated the gameplay at first.It left a very bad impression on me until Story Mode rekindled my love of Persona 4 and hit me with a new, interesting storyline. But if I look past those nostalgic memories, the entertaining visual-novel type story, and my existing love of the songs, I’m not sure how much I like dancing to the rhythm. In a way, it feels like little more than hitting buttons in a sequence. With the exception of a few songs, I’m not sure the rhythm and music sync in a way that gets you into it, deep down."

Yes rhythm games involve hitting buttons in a sequence. If you don't like that then you don't like any rhythm game not just this one.
