Game companies are always looking to open up new revenue streams from their online games. In the past, this was normally done through the use of subscription fees, but now that the online world has totally changed over to the free mmo model, they have to recoup those now lost subscription fees through other means. A lot of games do this by selling cosmetic items and other consumables that give temporary boosts to players. However, a more recent phenomenon has been the selling of various mmo packs. These packs can take on various forms, such as mmo founder's packs that guarantee beta access or bundled packs that are released after the game launches. The prices for these packs can vary considerably, from roughly twenty dollars up to several hundred (and beyond!). The question is: how much is too much for mmo packs?
