What's the Future for MGS, Kojima, and Konami?

Another week, another Twinfinite Discusses. Welcome back to the show where we answer the questions and topics that you send us in through Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. This week, Ed, Ish and Sharon discuss a wide variety of hot button gaming issues. Like what the future holds for the major parties behind Metal Gear Solid V. What will Konami do with the MGS franchise? Do they have the guts do a MGS game without Kojima? Speaking of MGS, we thumb up thumb down whether or not Quiet’s reason for running around naked is a cool one (spoiler alert!) and also try to figure out a worse day for Mad Max to release (we can’t).

For MGS and Konami : piles of doodo
Kojima : great games no matter where he goes.

Konami is screwed , their best IP is basically dead and that sucks , MGS is my favorite series and they managed to fuck it up, PES hasn't been good since 09 and all their other IPs were killed .
And their CEO is such a douche that I hope they burn .

EdMcGlone3138d ago

Hopefully Konami gets it together. Wondering if they willing to still make more MGS without Kojima. Probably a reboot if anything.

scark923138d ago (Edited 3138d ago )

Well other publishers did come back after bad publicity, but it was like Konami wanted to be hated xD

NeoGamer2323138d ago

The problem with Kojima is that he takes a long time to create his games which increases their costs substantially. I am sure he will signup somewhere, but I don't know if he will have the financial and time freedom he did developing for Konami. Which may affect the quality of his next title.

freshslicepizza3138d ago (Edited 3138d ago )

konami - likely to make a lot of money making games on mobile while playing it safe on consoles with future games like pes.

kojima - likely to either go to kickstarter to help fund his next project or start a new indie team. there is no way he is going to finance his own games if he wants to make big titles. his ability to budget is a lot like his ability to edit his cutscenes.

my money is on konami being more stable than kojima. without mgs kojima has an uphill battle. without kojima konami still has a lot of value in its ip's (including mgs) and mobile can make a lot of money.

JokerBoy4223138d ago (Edited 3138d ago )

The only MGS we'll be seeing out of Konami will be pachinko machines and mobile games. Both of which will probably never make it out of Japan because the new CEO of Konami wants to keep all activity, outside PES, to be kept within Japan.

TheUberAsian3138d ago

Err... Konami releasing the missing chapter and including the missing content!

MysticStrummer3138d ago (Edited 3138d ago )

MGS is pretty much over with now that Kojima is gone.

Konami is pretty much over with, for me anyway, now that MGS and Silent Hills are gone.

I rescued Kojima from the Soviets so he's on my team now and we're both waiting for MGS Online.

ZeekQuattro3138d ago

Pachinko machines from the looks of it.

specialguest3138d ago (Edited 3138d ago )

Kojima will always have a future in gaming. I'm sure there are many big development companies that would love to hire him for proejcts. MGS is dead, except maybe in the form of those Pachinko machines. Konami will fade into obscurity.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan174d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara174d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus174d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow174d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga190d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19190d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19190d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq190d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger190d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder190d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils190d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder190d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85190d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac190d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420190d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim190d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo189d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
