How 'Vision Gran Turismo' is keeping Gran Turismo relevant

VVV: "Of course, the significance of the Gran Turismo series will rely hugely on the quality of the games. In recent years, Gran Turismo releases have been quite divisive with critics and fans, and it will be interesting to see if the in-the-works Gran Turismo 7 will be able to respond to the likes of Project CARS and Assetto Corsa.

But being so close to major brands in the automotive world should keep the Gran Turismo brand right at the heart of the industry. And if doing that isn't the most surefire way outside of the game development sphere of ensuring the significance of the series, then I have no idea what will keep the Gran Turismo series relevant in the motoring and gaming industries."

It's great to see support for Gran Turismo from a marque such as Bugatti, especially after Alfa Romeo and Bertone dropped out from the VGT project.

I just hope VGT gets carried over to GT7, got a feeling GT7 is gonna blow everything out of the water when it releases.

We'll find out soon enough (well 4-5 years time).

Agreed. The cars (premium) have enough detail for this gen. The physics are there to be expanded upon. Last gen was nearly 1080p @40-60 fps so will easily run at a full [email protected] this gen. Last gen we saw better weather and lighting in GT6 than in this gens Forza 6, adaptive tessellation ect. Okay so the PS3 hardware was modest, but these things will matter and make a world of difference on PS4. Cannot wait.

PS. Forza is good. I wasn't knocking it. But GT should exceed it. We all knowmthe differences-and similarities of the consoles.

Gran Turismo is to the auto industry what Polyphony Digital is to Sony:

Loyal, innovative, humble, and abundantly generous.

GT 6 will go down as one of the best of them all when it's all said and done.

...am I the only one also excited about the Hyundai N 2025 VGT that was also unveiled?

Dee_911181d ago

I think I might like that one more than the mazda lm55. I just love that these car manufacturers are going all out with concepts... except for bmw, that one basically a m4 with a bodykit... still gorgeous though

Polyphony Digital is doing a great job supporting GT6 even though the game is 2 years old on a last generation platform. Game has no paid DLC content, and the Vision GT cars are all free. It's stuff like this that makes me more willing to pay $60 on their next game.

guitarded771181d ago

Yup. I think the term "relevant" in the title is sensationalist BS. GT is still the standard for mass appeal sim racers. GT is of such quality and depth that it doesn't need a yearly release. If more games were like that, their series' wouldn't turn to crap.

GT is like GTA, Elder Scrolls and other huge series with non-annual releases. Quality over quantity makes these games relevant even after the next game in the series/IP comes out.

Allgravynolackin1181d ago

You'd think with all the extra time they take between games they could actually update the vehicle models and have decent engine sounds. In that respect, they definitely prefer quantity over quality.

scark921181d ago

Yeah no doubt! They are doing a phenomenal job!

S2Killinit1182d ago (Edited 1182d ago )

is that a Bugatti? I have to say I like it a lot more than the outgoing Veyron* assuming that's what this is.

bradleejones1182d ago

It is a veyron concept car.

Kiwi661181d ago

Bet you'd love to have that parked on your driveway

Dee_911181d ago

Not a veyron. Completely different design. If anything it's more of an indication of what the chiron will look like.

kraenk121181d ago

Actually no...it's the upcoming Veyron successor Chiron as a concept.
