Forza Motorsport 6 vs Project CARS handling comparison

TeamVVV writes: "Alan is using a controller for this comparison and it becomes apparent early on that the handling model in Forza Motorsport 6 is very sensitive which sends Alan sideways very easily on a number of occasions. There was a definite gap between the grip levels in Forza Motorsport 6 and Project CARS, the latter having much more available hence the faster lap times."

I understand you put assists on for both but lot of those turns in project cars shouldnt even be possible so cleanly at that speed.

Look at 3:11 ...did you activate the nitrous from need for speed to move you back to the track?

Forza 6 at 3:29 is pretty much what actually is suppose to happen when you go into the dirt like that.

In fairness, PC is a brand new IP and is far from being a bad game. But that is not to take away from the fact that FMS6 beats it in every single category, as it should for a game that keeps upping the bar with each new release. Still have to take hats off to turn10 for doing all of this with what PS4 fans like to refer too as an underpowered machine (XB1). It does everything better than Project Cars on PS4. Just goes to show better specs on paper is not the full story.

MeliMel1100d ago

Bubble for you kind sir.....lol

@Bigpappy

"FMS6 beats it in every single category, as it should for a game that keeps upping the bar with each new release"

Really?!!

PC-dynamic weather (ALL tracks)
FM6-button switch (only 6 tracks)

Winner - PC

PC - dynamic lighting
FM6 - baked lighting

Winner - PC

PC - dynamic day/night cycle (ALL tracks)
FM6 - button switch day/night (only 5 tracks)

Winner PC

Only some categories in which PC is far better than FM6.

As regards your part with "upping the bar with each new release".

Can you tell me what was upped in FM6 in comparison with FM5.

Apart from the button switch to change the weather and the time of day, FM6 looks 90% the same as FM5. Even Digital Foundry came to this conclusion.

KionicWarlord2221099d ago

gfk342 im sorry but the visual comparisons ended here :

http://n4g.com/news/1792573...

Its pretty much open and shut. The game in that video also is the ps4 version of project cars.

Forza 6 has quite a lot of superiority there over project cars.

Its hard to deny this when you see a up close rundown of both.

gfk3421099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

@Kionic

You are kidding, right....

There is nothing in that video makes FM6 superior than PC.

Look at how sterile the track from FM6 looks.

Compare the headlights and you'll see how better they look in PC.

Not to mention that the cars in FM6 do not look real, especially in the rain where the colour of the cars are way too saturated.

No, FM6 does NOT look better than PC.

If you see differently please explain why.

WinAttLife1099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

@gfk342

Have you played PC and FM6? If you haven't played both how are you so sure one is superior? Having played both myself I can say PC holds up very well for a new title, but FM6 is more polished and fun to play in every way. I encourage you to try both and then form your opinion. If you have and still prefer PC then that's just personal preference.

boodi1099d ago

this topic it's about the handling..shouldbe

APexGamer451099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

LOL @BigPappy

You do know Forza 6 is relying on pre baked lighting stuff that was only used in last gen...

Forza 6 is a great game, but let us not try to use the game as beating every technical achievement and somehow an example of X1 closing its power gap.

Its just funny comparing game using PRE BAKED LIGHTING!! and button switch of baked lighting. LOL....

Project cars turning seems a bit too arcade like.

butchertroll1099d ago

LOL! No! How about the opposite, hm...?

FordGTGuy1100d ago

The amount of traction you get in Project Cars is completely unrealistic, you can actually feel a car in Forza gain more traction as the tires warm up. Project Cars might as well glue the cars to the road in comparison.

I just drove the same car on the same track and unlike Allen I did it with simulation steering and no assists and managed to keep the backend under control on the same corners.

A game's physics shouldn't be blamed because the drive can't control the car.

TheCommentator1099d ago

Exactly. I face palmed when he said assists were on. He's comparing two sims with the sim physics off... wtf sense does that make?

Thefreeman0121097d ago

I disagree, I have both games with a Thrustmaster TX and Forza 6 loses grip instantly around corners and the cars dont have any weight to them either. I did a test and my tires slid out while taking a corner at 35 mph

PistolsAtDawn1100d ago

...cause Forza 6 is more realistic. Case closed.

FordGTGuy1100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

You can't tell Project Cars fanboys this, what do you expect from a community that threw hundreds of dollars towards the development of a game?

Project Cars basically has free astro-turfers just by having their community drop money for the game to exist and they need to defend their investment at all costs.

Project Cars allows you to get away with unrealistic amounts of traction around corners, racing slicks aren't magical and if they were we wouldn't need downforce.

Clunkyd1100d ago

There's no such thing as "Project cars fanboys" more like PC fanboys. You know, because they dont have anything else that can compete with these console racers.

butchertroll1099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

You were banned on GAF, now you spreading bullshit here?

PCARS fanboys! LOL!

Anyway, Forza fans WILL NEVER admit that there is better racer than Forza. NEVER! Assetto Corsa eat Forza in physics.

starchild1099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

@Clunkyd

I don't really see that at all. It seems the majority of people propping up Project Cars in comparison to Forza are Sony fanboys more than anything else. Usually they use PC and Drive Club combined to try to "beat" Forza. You can see several examples of that in this comment section.

That said, Project Cars is a pretty good game and there are quite a few good racing games on PC. I don't feel the need to get defensive about it.

Spotie1099d ago

@starchild: Several? Where? Don't just go making things up.

starchild1099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

@Spotie

Go read the comment history of people like gfk342, butchertroll, thatPSguy and Keltech and tell me if they are PC fanboys or Sony fanboys. There you'll have your answer.

I just don't understand why PC fans are being criticized or blamed when I don't see any PC fans in this comment section trying to downplay Forza.

kraenk121099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

LOL you know what..We didn't throw money at the game. The game earns money for us..We are investors. I just got payed over 50€ of revenue.

FordGTGuy1099d ago (Edited 1099d ago )

@butchertroll

I'm actually not even banned on GAF right now.

@kraenk12
"LOL you know what..We didn't throw money at the game. The game earns money for us..We are investors. I just got payed over 50€ of revenue."

That's even worse as now you even have a reason to shill.

Finally a comparison of something that actually matters in a racing game (the physics of racing) with two racing games that should actually be compared. This is much better than comparing whose rain looks better on a windshield.

I am loving f6. I have Pcars too and overall I like it but it has some issues. the sim is a little weird and the controller setups are really tedious as you have to do one for every single car you use and when it updates the software they all get wiped out.

Forza has the better sim of the two and more polish, both as a game and graphically to boot.

FlexLuger1100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

"Finally a comparison of something that actually matters in a racing game (the physics of racing) with two racing games that should actually be compared. This is much better than comparing whose rain looks better on a windshield."

^^THIS!

At the end of the day, a sim, lives and dies on its handling model. As such forza is the best there is. These cars DO punish you in real life and driving them at the limit is a balancing act at all times. And that is the thrill of driving/racing...not hopw pretty your raindrops is or how many times your game engine can change weather during a 10 lap online race (which is NOT realistic btw...How many times does the weather change when you are watching F1, touring cars, indy etc.?)

Kudos to team VVV for giving us the comparison that we as forza and as sim fans REALLY care about. And kudos to T10 for capturing the thrill of driving.

"I think a lot of the issues Alan gets with Forza 6 is the lift-throttle oversteer caused by the strangely low stock deceleration setting on the differential"

I agree. Its a known fact that if sudden inputs upset a car when approching a corner. Thats why you dont jump on the trottle, slam on the brakes, or yank at your steering wheel, suddenly. all these things upset the cars forward momentum. That is how it is real life. Anybody who is even a remotely talented driver learns this fast. thats how it is in real life..and thats how it is on forza.
