Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 has some really sleek menus, and today they were shown during a livestream, alongside quite a few options, including new ones.
Not a big fan of how this menu looks. Cant wait to play it soon though! Just two more weeks!
Really? I think it looks perfect. It's got that Indiana Jones vibe with the color scheme, and maps in the background.
I think it's "XoxOX"
This is how the menus look in uncharted 2&3 at least!
Do Twitch streams like this one get archived? I missed it but I'd love to check it out at some point. The motion blur option is a nice touch for sure. Can't wait to relive this series, I've held off on my annual replays for the past couple years in anticipation. Wish the demo were closer but I'll take what I can get.
Lol. What's up with those disagrees? Yeah they archived it, stream title is Uncharted Moments.
Haha I guess I have a couple disagreeing stalkers, either that or 2 people have strong feelings about motion blur. Thanks for the info, I never seem to be able to catch these streams when they're live!
It is archived. Just click on "Naughty dog" and then on "Past broadcasts"
Thanks for the heads up, finally got around to watching it. Quick question (or comment if you don't have the time to reply), what did you make of the comment about their desire to bring back Eddie Raja at the 24:00 mark during the archive? Scherr mentioned it & quickly shut himself down saying he's "trying to avoid spoilers", do you think he was talking about spoiling DF which is an 8 year old game, or could he have been more likely alluding to an inclusion at some point during A Thief's End? Taken in conjunction with the idea of tying up loose ends of the series it was kinda interesting to me. I've thought for sure that we would take control of Sam during a section of UC4 like we did young Drake in UC3 or Ellie in TLOU, or if not there then potentially during the dlc, do you think maybe we meet Raja in the past as Sam or that Sam had some connection to him possibly that could include him in some section of UC4?
It is not a remake, it is a remastered. The upcoming Ratchet is a remake. Cool looking menu screen btw.
Yes its a remaster.
Why so many disagrees? Surely those people should know the difference between a remake and a remaster.
Yah, but why even bring that up in the article? Its the freaking menus for christ sake!
Game is a remaster, but the menu is a remake? :D
Nice, mothion blur options are always welcome.
Where's the "30fps Cap" option? What if we like playing at 30fps? I know I would use that option.
''muh cinematic 30fps experience''
60 fps > 30 fps
I don't understand the disagrees.. most of the ps4 exclusives of this gen when they run for 60 frames or so they have an option in the settings to lock it at 30fps. I don't see how having this option is a negative because some people can become really nauseous with 60 frames and locking it to a lower frame could allow the game to do more graphically(take the Last of Us remastered and inFamous Second Son for example). I for one don't think every game in every genre needs to be 60fps, but if it could.. then why not.
For some reason, I think bluepoint could make this game stick around high 50's. Therefore not really needing a 30fps option. however, we never know what kind of 60fps it is and it would be a good option if this game hovers around 40-50's a lot.
I think the idea of the option in the ps4 titles is allowing for a locked frame rate instead of a variable one, and for those games it is easiest to lock at 30. This collection will come already locked at 60. A lower frame rate can allow for more graphically but that would have to be developed as such from the beginning. I'm honestly glad they didn't take this remaster too far in adding new elements because eventually it could diminish ND's hard work on the titles. Bluepoint are great at remastering, but no one touches Naughty Dog at the pure development level. Better for them to clean up what isn't broken as opposed to trying to fix something that doesn't need it. I do agree that every game doesn't need to be 60 for my personal tastes though, as long as its locked I'm happy. The demo should be a good tester for you to see how you feel about the 60, hopefully it only helps the experience for you, I know I'm interested to see it myself.
What if I like 30fps? It's what I'm used to and it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is a frame rate that fluctuates from 60 to 30 to 45 to 50 to 60... that's distracting. If the frame rate is consistently over 30fps, then just cap it at 30 so we can enjoy a solid frame rate for such masterpiece games. Is it too hard to put an option in there?
Is motion blur a good or bad thing?
Really depends on the player preference, I like motion blur cause it gives a sense of motion but for others it might give them motion sickness/hesdaches
Options are a good thing, I would say.
motion blur can be quite nice if done right. However, that isnt the case most of the time. Also many gamers like clarity more than anything else, so bluring the screen would make them cry because it ruins the screencaps they take :D anyway, its always good to have options.
So can you choose different kinds of motion blur? couldn't think of any other reason to list "Object" as an option rather than just "On/Off"
Menus look nice.
So much I waited for this HD version of the Uncharted series, I'm imagining the train section of Uncharted 2 in HD and 60 fps gives me goosebumps! :D
Doesn't look like much effort was put in the menu screens.
And what would you have done differently, out of interest?
Fine wit it, really don't care what menus look like, looking forward playing the games.
I tried this at PAX, it was definitely fun. Particularly great for people who have never played the games. Once agian though, it is just another HD collection. Don't get me wrong, I love playing some of my old favorites on the newer systems. But it is the new games, particularly the new IP's, that will get me to buy the systems.
Looks like a menu! Wow!!
I will plat this for sure right before 4 drops if I can get myself to stop playing Fallout 4.
Dualshockers calling the collection minus multiplayer and 3D support a "remake"? Big shocker.
