The new boss definitely is not the same as the old boss.
He seems to have more of a finance background.
Well there goes getting someone younger and is up yo date with the gaming industry to help get them up to date
Sony seems to be doing great with the old people still on the helm. So lets give the guy a chance, he could do good by the company.
But they had old people at the helm and it hasn't been working out. The difference is Sony is up to date with what gamers want while Nintendo aren't....they are still living in the past half the time
Agreed. It makes no sense to assume anything about what direction he'll take Nintendo.
PS4 is doing great. Sony is not. Not Vita, not Sony software, not most of there divisions. Just PS4
You're right, not only that but he is not the one making the desicions, hes the guy who will sign off on it. He wont be in charge of game development.
The problem here is Sony has never been out of touch as far as console gaming goes. Even at their worst, they still sold 85million consoles.
Maybe that man could change that. They are really out of touch yes but it can change.
Nitnendo is plenty up to date, they release games that actually work. DLC that is not nickled and dimed, and other things.
They're online is in the Stone ages compared to MS/Sony They'd rather give us something like Metroid Prime: Federation Force instead of a main game people have been asking for years for They spend too much time trying to capture the glory days of the Wii (money wise) instead of just giving games better hardware, new IPs and a better online. Still haven't got a trophy/achievement system. Not something which breaks a console but it does add a little replay value for those who like to aim towards something. Another small thing which again isn't going to break them is how they don't do many collectors editions. I mean some of their franchises could have fantastic ones and they'd earn a little more on the side but they don't do them often. Hardly no games on their store. Lack of Gamecube games is amazing, I just can't believe they haven't gotten them on yet so many years on from the Wii U's release. Still waiting for this gens big Zelda game and even Mario (if you don't count Super Mario 3D World). Even though they had a year head start before the PS4/Xbox One Third party support is terrible. Don't seem to know what fans want. They are living in the past man. You can't say they aren't because they are.
"They're online is in the Stone ages compared to MS/Sony" Free, works, which I cannot say for their online most of the time "They'd rather give us something like Metroid Prime: Federation Force instead of a main game people have been asking for years for" So that means we are not getting Star Fox? Xenoblade X? Mario Maker? one game does not wipe away tons of great games every year. "They spend too much time trying to capture the glory days of the Wii (money wise) instead of just giving games better hardware, new IPs and a better online. " Better hardware does not lead to better games, look at ds/wii, nintendos most prolific time. New IP? Splatoon? You do not speak in fact, you take one thing, and blow it up, ignoring everything else. "Still waiting for this gens big Zelda game and even Mario (if you don't count Super Mario 3D World). Even though they had a year head start before the PS4/Xbox One " Who would not count Mario 3D World? You eeven had the critically acclaimed New Super Mario U, and Maker just launched. We got Pikmin 3, Xenoblade X, Star Fox, DK, and so much more. Harping on a single title is so silly.
@RPGrinder Foxtrot has a point with his opinions.. Its not about having better hardware, its about having something similar to their competitors for a better competitive environment, it would help them first for third party support and for the first party games to be better. I know im going to get dislike for saying this but the New Star Fox looks terrible, some textures look awful like a n64 game just HD. And lets be honest they thought they could capture the Casual audience again with the Wii u and they didnt. So i dont know why they keep pursuing that idea. The 3DS is not where it should be to many versions of the system. The new 3DS has only one exclusive (xenoblade) and no more exclusives yet, every game releasing its 3DS compatible with all versions. 3rd party support for the handheld its poor compared to the Orignal DS. It may be because of smartphones games but Nintendo's hardware on home consoles and handhelds are not where they need to be.
^ He has no point. 3DS has the best library now. No question. "3rd party support for the handheld its poor compared to the Orignal DS." Yet more support than most systems right now. You are looking for things to criticize, just for the sake of it.
You really never have anything good to say do you? You know nothing about this guy and are already talking down about him. You have no way to tell how in touch he is just because of his age.
I don't care....I just do not care At least I can stay on topic with the article
He's a troll. I don't post here often because of all the fanboy garbage, but I read enough to know that at least. There's obviously no reason to assume anything about how this guy is going to run Nintendo. But, people love to bash Nintendo, so they'll do it any chance they get.
@JLynn943 Oh look another person who dosen't even know how to use the troll word correctly ". But, people love to bash Nintendo" Yeah because "Nintendo can't do no wrong" huh...I mean they've done everything correctly and are a perfect company so people bash them for "no reason" right.
@ Foxtrot Hm. Guess I missed the part where I said Nintendo can do no wrong. I was merely pointing out that they're getting criticized for doing something wrong when what they're doing has had no time to produce any results. Go back to your cave.
I don't think it has anything to do with being young or old. You don't have to be young to know what the competition is doing or where the trends in tech are going. Nintendo has realized their mistakes and I am sure they are acknowledging the competition of Sony and MS now not to mention what gaming community of the world is asking for, not just their fans and gamers in Japan. There is no way that the NX won't at least have advantages and also cater to a wider 3rd party development teams.
As long as Nintendo delivers best in industry software, It does not matter much. They are doing pretty good right now, he just needs to keep it going. Nintendo is poised to have a monster Holiday this year.
>They are doing pretty good right now source? Last time i checked they made a profit this year since 2011, so i don't think they are doing good. Hope the new leadership makes changes in the company for a better future for them.
3ds should do well, but Wii U is going to get destroyed this coming Holiday season.
Wii U is going to be destroyed with fatal frame, mario tennis, xenoblade, star fox and more with the best lineup? Destroyed? Really? haha. It is going to sell.
I'll wait for a nintendo direct or two to decide if he's a good fit or not
It would be nice to see some good changes, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Nintendo has disappointed me too many times. While their handheld game is strong, their consoles leave something to be desired as a hardcore gamer, to say the least. I know other people think differently and I don't honestly care because whatever you say isn't going to convince me. Nintendo needs to convince me with their actions, and so far, they haven't.
I agree, i am really disappointed at them. For their next console i am going to wait to see if it delivers.
People want Nintendo to change but they don't want to change themselves by buying multiple consoles instead of staying on one. Don't try make other change if you can't change yourself.
Meanwhile, Super Mario Maker takes a royal crap on just about everything released this year.
I was hoping for someone young and fresh. HOWEVER, this guy has a lot of experience and if he's more business savvy he may be making better decisions i.e. not alienating customers with things like the Wii U.
